    31、essdesignforthe overallprocess.Theoverallcosts,includingtheinvestmentandoperatingexpensesforthecontrolsystemwith respecttovarioustreatmentalternativesshouldbeestimatedandcheckedatthisstage.Accountshallbetakenof thefact,thatasophisticatedcontrolsystemrequiresskilledandtrainedpersonnelformaintenance.T

    32、hereforeitis mainlydependentontheplantsizeandprocesscomplexitywhetherasophisticatedcontrolsystemorsimple controlsarerequired. Thedesignshalltakeintoaccounttherequiredmanagementinformationsystem.Incertaincasesitcanbe advantageoustoincorporatethecontroloftheseweragesystem. Thecontrolandautomationconce

    33、ptshallbespeciallydesignedforeachwastewatertreatmentplantdependingon thetreatmentprocesses,manninglevelsandskills.Itshouldalsoallowcompliancewiththerequirementsfor reliabilityandtheoperationinspecialsituations,e.g.incaseoffailureofsomecomponents. Controlandautomationsystemsshouldbeconfiguredasanetwo

    34、rkofseveralintelligentsubsystemswhichare servedandoperatedbyoneormorecentralcontrolstationsinahierarchicalclientserverarchitecture.Thedesign ofsuchnetworksshallcomplywiththerequirementsondatatransferrate,transmissionprotocolsandthefunctions ofthesubstations.Thecontrolandautomationsystemshouldsupport

    35、thecommunicationviainternet,e.g.itshouldEN1225512:2003(E) 6 bepossibletoimplementthewebserverfunctionalitytopresentonlinedataaswellasarchivalinformationinthe webcompatibleformatsviatheweb. Basedonthesebasicconsiderationsforthedesignofcontrolandautomationsystems,inthefollowingclauses requirementsonth

    36、enecessaryinformationwithrespecttothesystemdesignandfurthermoretothehardwareand softwarefeaturesofthesystemarecompiled.Afundamentalconceptisgivenforsimpleplants,whichcanbe upgradedtoanetworksystemapplyingtomorecomplexprocessdesign. 5 Designrequirementsandautomationconcept 5.1 Inputdataforthedesignof

    37、theautomationsystem 5.1.1General InadditiontothegeneralspecificationsandrequirementsaccordingtoprEN1225511thecustomershallsupply furtherrequirementsasbasisfortheevaluationoftheappropriatedegreeofinstrumentationandtheselectionof therequiredcomponentsofthecontrolandautomationsystemaswellasforthedesign

    38、ofthecontrolroom equipment.Theextentofthedataneededvarieswiththerequirementsonplantoperation,onthelevelof automationaswellasonthedocumentstobeproduced,pilingofoperationaldatainlistsorbalances. Theseadditionalrequirementsrefertotheinstrumentationandautomationsystems(see5.1.2)andtheplant operatingcond

    39、itions(see5.1.3). 5.1.2 Instrumentationandautomationsystems Thecomplexityoftheplantdesignrelatestothesophisticationofinstrumentationandautomationsystem. Thereforethefollowingrequirementsshouldbespecified: a) Thelevelofinstrumentationforprocesscontrol,e.g.: flow,level,pressure,temperature; forchemica

    40、lparameterssuchaspH; conductivity,redox,dissolvedoxygenandturbidity; morecomplexonlinemonitorsforammonia,nitrite,nitrate,phosphate; formixedliquorsuspendedsolids(MLSS). b) strategiesforprovidingdefaultvaluesincaseofmalfunctionorfailureofthetransmitters,e.g.incontrolloops. c) thecontrolloopdesignfora

    41、erationfacilities,nitrification,denitrificationandphosphorusremovalcontrolaswell asrecirculationandsludgetreatment. d) advancedcontrolsystemsasmodellingorfuzzycontrolforthedosageofprecipitantorflocculationagents. 5.1.3 Plantoperatingconditions Inadditiontothebasicprocessdesigntheoperationalcondition
