Immediately after the completion of the fifth cycle, the DC leakage, capacitance, and dissipation factor shall be measured and shall meet the initial requirements of this standard. 2.19 Case Insulation (if applicable): Capacitors wi

    11、th outer insulating sleeves shall be tested in accordance with Method 13, Insulation Resistance Test, of EL4 Standard RS-186 with the following details: a) The capacitor shall be wrapped tightly with two turns of thin metal foil over the insulating sleeve. The foil shall be no closer than 1/4” from

    12、either end of the capacitor. b) Three turns of AWG size 18 bare copper wire shall _ be wound around the center of the foil. _ - EIA 395 71 W 3234600 0076072 7 ls118 RS-395 Page 14 c) Insulation resistance shall be measured between the capacitor terminations shorted together and the foi wrap at 500 f

    13、 10V DC with an electrification time of one minute +O, -1 5 seconds. 2.19.1 Under these conditions, the insulation resistance shall not be less than 1 O0 megohms. 2.19.2 Insulation Withstanding Voltage: Within five minutes following the test in paragraph 2.19.1, the capacitor with foil wrap retained

    14、 shall be tested for insulation withstanding voltage. A voltage of 2000 f 1% VDC shall be applied between the capacitor terminations shorted together and the foil wrap. This voltage shall be applied by increasing it from zero to 2000 VDC at a rate not exceeding 500V per second. 2.19.2.1 Under these

    15、conditions, there shall be no evidence of breakdown of the case insulation. This shall be determined by removing the foil wrap and examining the case insulation for evidence of burning, charring, or arcing. 2.20 Coupling Impedance for Multi-ection Capacitors (if applicable) : 2.20.1 Whether or not t

    16、his test shall be a requirement is a matter of agreement between the manufacturer and his customer. When performed as below the coupling impedance shall not exceed .O15 ohm or other value as agreed between the manufacturer and his customer. 2.20.2 The common coupling impedance shall be determined by

    17、 passing a 60 Hz current of between 100 to 500 milliamperes through the input section of the multi-section capacitor and measuring the voltage developed across the second, third, or fourth section as below: Using this method, the coupling impedance is calculated from the following expression: (The v

    18、oltmeter lead on the common connection should be made at a separate point on the mounting ring than the power lead to eliminate the possibility of measuring the contact resistance of the power lead o the mounting ring.) EX 10-3 z= 1 where: Z = coupling impedance in ohms I = RMS input current in mill

    19、iamperes at 60 Hz E= Developed voltage across the section involved as measured by a VTVM. 2.21 Seal Test (Applicable to Type 1 Only): 2.2 1.1 Capacitors of Type 1 only shall be capable of meeting the following container seal test: a 2.21.2 Subject capacitors to two temperature cycles in circulated a

    20、ir in accordance with the foilowing schedule: a) Place capacitors in an oven maintained at the capacitor maximum rated temperature f 3C. and hold for 15 minutes. b) Remove from oven and al10.w capacitors to cool to room temperature. c) Place capacitors in a cold chamber maintained at -20C f 2C and h

    21、old for 15 minutes, d) Remove from chamber and allow capacitors to attain room temperature. 2.21.3 Immerse capacitors in hot water maintained at 90C f 5C for a period of three minutes. During immersion, there shall be no chain of repetitive bubbling from any part of the capacitor. 2.22 Characteristi

    22、cs at Minimum and Maximum Temperatures: 2.22.1 The measurements in Table V shail be made in the order shown. Capacitors under measurement shall be brought to thermal stability at each step of testing. Thermal stability will have been reached when no further change in capacitance (or impedance) is ob

    23、served between two successive measurements taken at 15 minute intervals.     25、ts shall be a matter of agreement between the manufacturer and his customer. 2.23 Surge Test: 2.23.1 Capacitors shall be subjected to the applicable rated surge voltage shown in Table 1. Multiple section capacitors shall have the surge voltage applied to the first filter section only. Voltage applic

    26、ation shall be at normal room temperature and through a series resistor of value: Rated Capacitance Below 2500 pF 2500 pF and up Value of Series Resistor 100 f 10% ohms 25 O6 C f 10% ohms R= where C = rated pF Surge voltage application shall be for a period of 30 seconds followed by 4-1/2 minutes du

    27、ring which each capacitor is discharged through the charging series resistor (or separate resistor). The test shall continue for 120 hours. 2.23.2 Following the above test, the DC leakage current and DF shall meet the initial requirements of this standard and the capacitance shall not be less than 8

    28、0% of the initial measuremen t. The capacitor shall show no evidence of mechanical damage or leakage of electrolyte. NOTE: Condensation on the terminals or cover, without free flowing (droplets) electrolyte is permitted. 2.24 Life (Operating): 2.24.1 Capacitors shall be tested in accordance with the

    29、 procedures of Method 12, Heat-Life Test, of EIA Standard 186. They shall be mounted by their normal or supplemental means and be subjected to continuous rated DC voltage at maximum rated temperature. 2.24.2 For Type 1 capacitors, the length of the life test shall be 2000 hours. Upon completion of t

    30、his test, the DC leakage current shall not exceed the limits specified in paragraph 2.10.3, Table II. The capacitance change as compared with the initial reading shall not exceed 20%. The dissipation factor shall not exceed 1.5 times the limits specified in paragraph 2.12.1. 2.24.3 For Type 2 capaci

    31、tors, the length of the life test shall be 1000 hours. Upon completion of this test, the DC leakage current shall not exceed the limits specified in paragraph 2.10.3, Table II.     32、hfl 2 II 2.25 3.1 RS-395 Page 17 The dissipation factor shall not exceed 1.5 times the hits specified in paragraph 2.12.1. 2.24.4 In addition to meeting the requirements of paragraph 2.24.2 and 2.24.3, capacitors of both types shali show no evidence of mechanical damage or leakage of electrolyte. NO

    33、TE: Condensation on the terminals or cover without free flowing (droplets) electrolyte is permitted. Shelf Life (Accelerated): 2.25.1 To demonstrate shelf life capability, capacitors shall be subjected to maximum rated temperature for 250 k 8 hours for type 1 and 100 f 8 hours for type 2, during whi

    34、ch time no voltage shall be applied. Within 24 hours after completion of the test, the capacitors shall be measured at standard atmospheric conditions for DC leakage, capacitance, and dissipation factor and shall deet the limits below. 2.25.2 The DC leakage current shall not exceed twice the value s

    35、hown in paragraph 2.10.3 of this standard. The capacitance shall not change more than 10% from the initial measured value. The dissipation factor shall not be more than 1.5 times the value shown in paragraph 2.12.1. 2.25.3 Capacitors shall show no evidence of mechanical damage or leakage of electrol

    36、yte. NOTE: Condensation on the terminals or cover without free flowing (droplets) electrolyte is permitted. SECTION THREE - APPLICATION NOTES AC Ripple: Where application requires testing to be conducted with an AC ripple voltage superimposed on the DC bias voltage, the amount of ripple voltage or r

    37、ipple current, ripple frequency, ambient temperature, sections of multi-section capacitors which will have ripple applied, length of test, and allowable changes in measured values after the test shall be a matter of agreement between the manufacturer and his customer. 3.2 Cleaning Solvents: The use

    38、of halogenated hydrocarbon solvents associated with the cleaning of aluminum electrolytic capacitors may adversely affect the capacitors performance.
