    1、A-A-55276A December 16,1999 SUPERSEDING May 05, 1995 A-A-55276 COMMERICAL ITEM DESCRIPTIONS SWEATPANTS The General Services Abstration has authorized the use of this commercial item description for all Federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This document covers the requirements for a sweatpant used by Air Forc

    2、e personnel as a component of the Physical Conditioning Uniform and by Army personnel as a component of the Physical Conditioning Uniform. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The sweatpants shall be in the following classes and sizes: Class 1 - Air Force; Physical Conditioning Uniform Class 2 - Army; Physical Conhti

The fleece sweatpants (see Figures 1, Air Force and Figure 4, Army) shall have a 1- 1/4 inch wide covered elastic waistband with 4 rows of stitching and a concealed drawcord and a straight cut bar type buttonhole with ends securely tacked on inside of c

    6、enter fiont of the waistband. The sweatpants shall have two side pockets, opening shall be 6 (+/- 1/4) inches with a depth of 7 (+/- 1/4) inches. The top and bottom of pocket opening shall be securely tacked. The sweatpants shall have 1/4 inch wide covered elastic at the cuff of each leg opening. Th

    7、e ARMY sweatpants shall have lettering “ARMY” (see Figure 3) screen-printed down left leg. The lettering for Class 2 sweatpants shall be Black and beginning 12-1/2 inches below top of waistband centered between seams (see Figure 3). The AIR FORCE sweatpants shall have the logo (see Figure 2) printed

    8、 on the left fiont centered and positioned as outlined in Table 1. The screen print shall match Navy blue shade 35048 of FED- STD-595, for the Class 1. Table 1 Screen Print Location For Air Force (below bottom of waistband, inches) 3.2 Basic materials. The sweatpant shall be fabricated fiom Jersey K

    9、nit type fleece fabric having 55 (+/- 5) percent cotton with the remaining percentage polyester. The fleece fabric shall weigh 9.0 (+/- 0.5) ounces per square yard when tested in accordance with ASTM-D-3376, and have a minimum of 20 wales per inch and a minimum of 27 courses per inch when tested in

    10、accordance with ASTM-D- 3887. The material shall have a minimum bursting strength of 75 pounds when tested in accordance with ASTM-D-3787 and shall not shrink or elongate more than 10 percent when tested in accordance with AATCC Method 150 using normal machine cycle. The material shall match the sta

    11、ndard sample for shade (see 7.3). 3.2.1 Matching The color of the finished cloth shall match the standard sample when viewed under filtered tungsten lamps that approximate artificial daylight and having a correlated color temperature of 7500 (+/- 200K), with illumination of 100 (+/- 20) foot candles

    12、, and shall be a good match to the standard sample under incandescent lamplight at 2300 (+/- 200K). 3.2.2 Pocketing material. The material for the pocketing may be fleece or Jersey material. When fleece is used it shall match the basic material. The Jersey material shall have 55 (+/- 5) percent cott

    13、on and the remaining percentage polyester. The material shall weigh 5.5 (+/- 0.5) ounces per square yard have a minimum of 30 wales per inch and have a minimum of 45 courses per inch when tested in accordance with ASTM-D-3887. The Jersey material shall have a minimum bursting strength of 75 pounds w

The material shal

    15、l closely match the basic material. 3.3 Thread. The thread for seaming and stitching shall be 2-ply cotton covered polyester or spun polyester. The color shall be light gay, or a good match to the basic material and show good colorfastness to laundering. The thread shall have a breaking strength of

    16、1.8 lbs minimum and shall be tested in accordance with ASTM-D-2256. 3.4 Drawcord, The drawcord shall be 3/16 inch diameter 100 percent filament nylon. The nylon shall be bright, regular or high tenacity polyamide having a 840 normal denier and having a minimum breaking strength of 150 pounds. The dr

    17、awcord shall be basket weave with no core. The drawcord color shall approximate the basic material and shall show “good” colorfastness to home laundering. 3.5 Labels. A commercial-type label is acceptable, provided that an additional printed cloth label containing the contractors name, contract numb

    18、er, size and National Stock Number (NSN is caught on the stitching of the commercial label. The commercial label shall include fiber and laundering information. The labels shall be placed in the back seam caught in stitching approximately 2 1/2 inches down fiom bottom of waistband. 3.5.1 LabeVtag. E

    19、ach item shall be individually bar-coded with a paper tag for personal clothing items. The paper tag shall be standard bleached sulfate having a basis weight of 100 pounds. The paper used for the tags shall have a smooth finish to accept thermal transfer and direct printing. The tags shall have a ho

    20、le and shall be attached to each item by a fastener, clearly legible and readable by a scanner. The bar codmg element shall be a 13 digit National Stock Number (NSN). The bar code type shall be a medium to high code density and shall be located so that it is completely visible on the item when it is

    21、 folded andor packaged as specified and so that it causes no damage to the item. 3.5.2 Marking. The ink for screening printing “ARMY” to the sweatpant shall be black thermal plastic base ink (withstandmg temperatures to 300” F) or equal. The black “ARMY” markings shall be screen printed on the left

    22、leg of sweatpant as shown in Figure 2. Letters shall measure 5/8 (+/- 1/16) inch wide and 3 (+/- 1/16) inches in height (see Figure 2). The printing shall have a rating of “4” after 15 launderings when tested as specified in AATCC-6 1. 3.6 Sizes and measurements. measurements in Table II. The sweatp

The basic material shall conform to the rules and regulations of the Flammable Fabrics Act without the application of a flame retardant finish to the material or to the end item. 4.2 Recycled,

    28、 recovered, or environmentally preferable materials. Recycled, recovered, or environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible provided that the material meets or exceeds the operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle

The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this commercial item description, and shall conform to the pr

    30、oducers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. 5.2 Visual examination Each sweatpant shall be examined for the defects listed below 5.2.1 Defects. Any hole, cut, or tear; color not as specified;

    31、 needle chew, mend, or thin area; slubby yarn any loose knitting causing sleaziness, pulled or snagged stitches, any part shaded; any spot or stain (outside); raw edges, open seams, thread ends not removed, or loose tension resulting in loose seams; any material defects, waist and angle not smooth,

    32、has pleats, twisted, or stretched, drawcord not securely tacked, distorted parts or poor workmanship; any component part omitted; any component not as specified, logo or lettering incorrect, not positioned correctly, printing smeared, label missing, incorrect, or illegible; measurement of item not a

    33、s specified; bar code omitted or not readable by scanner; human-readable interpretation 0 omitted or illegible; bar code not visible on folded, packaged item; bar code causes damage to the item; any items not packaged in accordance with the contract or purchase order. 5.3 Acceptance criteria. Accept

    34、ance criteria shall be as specified in the contract or purchase order. 6.
