3、description for all federal agencies. 1. SCOPE. This commercial item description (CID) establishes the government acquisition requirements for person weighing scales with a minimum capacity of 300 pounds. 2. CLASSIFICATION. The scales shall be of the following types: Type I - High beam, person weigh
4、ing, platform scale with a measuring rod. Type II - Automatic-indicating platform scale, analog display Type III - Person weighing, platform scale with a measuring rod, digital display Type IV - Automatic-indicating platform scale, digital display 3. SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS 3.1. All scale types. 3.1
5、.1. Weight range. All types of scales shall have a weight range of zero to no less than 300 avoirdupois pounds (lbs). 3.1.2. Other requirements. Unless otherwise noted, all types of scales shall meet the requirements stated in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Handbook 44 “Specif
6、ications, Tolerances, and Other Technical Requirements for Weighing and Measuring Devices”. 3.2. Type I scale. Type I scales shall consist of a platform, a notched main beam and a fractional beam, a base, a column, and a height rod. The scale shall be sensitive to within 4 ounces (0.25 lbs). Provide

The platform shall be metal or other rigid material and shall have an integral non-skid surface or a mat or some other non-skid material secured to the top surface. The mat shall
8、be rubber or similar water resistant material. The platform shall be at least 10 inches wide by 13 inches long. 3.2.2. Beams. The main beam shall be graduated from zero to at least 250 lbs with 50 lb notched graduations. The fractional beam shall be smooth and have a 50 lb capacity with 0.25 lb grad
9、uations. The total weight measured shall be the sum of the two beams. The beam bars shall be graduated on both sides of the bar in such a manner that the markings for the measured weigh are visible. The center of the beam shall be at least 52 inches above the platform. 3.2.3. Base. The base shall be
10、 metal or other rigid material and shall not tip or rock on a flat surface. 3.2.4. Column. The column shall be metal or other rigid material and shall enclose the linkage mechanism connecting the beam to the platform. 3.2.5. Height measuring rod. The height measuring rod shall be telescoping and be
11、designed to measure the height of a person standing on the platform. The measuring rod shall measure heights from 30 inches to 78 inches and shall have a tolerance of 0.125 inch. 3.3. Type II. Type II scales shall have an analog weight display. 3.3.1. Weight display. The weight display shall consist
12、 of a reading face and an indicator. The indicator shall be parallel to the graduations on the reading face. The reading face shall be covered by a window of transparent material. The reading face may be fixed with a moveable indicator or the reading face may move with a fixed indicator. The reading
13、 face shall be graduated in 1 lb divisions. At a minimum, each 20 lb graduation shall be marked with its numerical value. Each 5 lb graduation shall be longer than its adjacent 1 lb graduations. The weight display shall be readable by a person on the scale. 3.3.2. Tolerance. The scale tolerance for
14、zero to 200 lb shall be 2 lb. The scale tolerance above 200 lb shall be 1 percent. 3.3.3. Zero adjustment. There shall be a zero adjustment mechanism operable from outside the scale to allow display to be reset to zero. 3.3.4. Base. The base shall be metal or other rigid material and shall have an i
15、ntegral non-skid surface or a mat or some other non-skid material on the top surface secured to the top surface. The mat shall be rubber or similar water resistant material. 3.4. Type III. Type III scales shall consist of a base, a column holding the display unit, and a height rod. The scale shall b

The base shall be metal or other rigid material and shall have an integral non-skid surface or a mat or some other non-skid material secured to the top surface. 18、display no less than 0.25 lb increments. The weight display shall be at least 30 inches above the platform and readable by a person on the scale. 3.4.3. Column. The column shall be metal or other rigid material and shall contain the weight display, and required connections between the base and displ
19、ay. 3.4.5. Height measuring rod. The height measuring rod shall be telescoping and be designed to measure the height of a person standing on the platform. The measuring rod shall measure heights from 30 inches to 78 inches and shall have a tolerance of 0.125 inch. 3.5. Type IV. Type IV scales shall
20、have a digital weight display. 3.5.1. Weight display. The weight display shall consist of a digital display. The display shall display no less than 1 lb increments. The weight display shall be readable by a person on the scale. 3.5.2. Tolerance. The scale tolerance for zero to 200 lb shall be 2 lb.
21、The scale tolerance above 200 lb shall be 1 percent. 3.5.3. Base. The base shall be metal or other rigid material and shall have an integral non-skid surface or a mat or some other non-skid material on the top surface secured to the top surface. The mat shall be rubber or similar water resistant mat
22、erial. 4. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE. 4.1. Certification. The contractor shall certify that the product offered meets the salient characteristics of this description and conforms to the producers own drawings, specifications, standards and quality assurance practices, and is the same as the product sold in
23、 the commercial marketplace. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance prior to the first delivery and thereafter as may be otherwise provided for under the provisions of the contract. 4.2. Market acceptability. The product offered must have been previously sold on eithe
24、r to the government or on the commercial market. 5. PACKAGING. 5.1. Packaging. The scales shall be preserved, packed, and marked in accordance with the domestic or overseas requirements of ASTM D 3951, “Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging”, or as specified in the acquisition order (see 6.2.c.
