This standard has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 144 “Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry” (Secretariat: AFNOR, France), Wo
5、rking Group WG 3 “Mobile machines and trailers”. The responsible German body involved in its preparation was the Normenausschuss Maschinenbau (Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee), Section Landtechnik. Amendment of the European Machinery Directive has made it necessary to review the previousl
6、y valid standard, EN 14018:2005, in terms of the essential requirements of the new European Machinery Directive, 2006/42/EC. This standard contains specifications meeting the essential requirements set out in Annex I of the “Machinery Directive”, Directive 98/37/EC, (valid until 28 December 2009) an
7、d the “revised Machinery Directive”, Directive 2006/42/EC, which takes effect on 29 December 2009, and which apply to seed drills that are either first placed on the market or commissioned within the EEA. This standard serves to facilitate proof of compliance with the essential requirements of the d
8、irectives. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive (“presumption of conformity”). The European Standards refe
9、rred to in clause 2 and in the bibliography of this document have been published as the corresponding DIN EN or DIN EN ISO Standards with the same number. This standard makes reference to documents which were valid as of the publication of the European standard. Since then, the standard EN 294:1992

The machinery concerned and the extent to which hazards, hazardous situations and hazardous events are covered are indicated in the scope
30、 of this European Standard. These hazards are specific to seed drills. Significant hazards that are common to all agricultural machines (self-propelled, mounted, semi-mounted and trailed) are dealt with in EN 1553:1999. When provisions of this type C standard are different from those which are state
31、d in type A or B standards, the provisions of this type C standard take precedence over the provisions of the other standards, for machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this type C standard. DIN EN 14018:2010-02 EN 14018:2005+A1:2009 (E) 5 1 Scope This European St
32、andard, applied together with EN 1553:1999, specifies the safety requirements and their verification for design and construction of mounted, semi-mounted, trailed or self-propelled seed drills, including the seeding function of combined seed and fertilizer drills, used in agriculture and in forestry
33、. In addition, this European Standard specifies the type of information on safe working practices (including residual risks) to be provided by the manufacturer. When requirements of this European Standard are different from those which are stated in EN 1553:1999 the requirements of this European Sta
34、ndard take precedence over the requirements of EN 1553:1999 for machines that have been designed and built according to the provisions of this European Standard. It does not apply to: fertilizer distributors designed only for solid fertilizer application (dealt with in EN 14017); seed drills with in
35、tegrated and inseparable powered soil working tools (see 3.2). NOTE Powered soil working tools are dealt with in EN 708:1996 and EN 708:1996/A1:2000. This European Standard deals with all the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to seed drills, when they are used as intended
36、 and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer (see Clause 4), excepting the hazards arising from: electrostatic phenomena; external influences on electrical equipment; failure of energy supply; failure, malfunction of control system; inadequate visibility from drivers/operators position; tr
37、avelling functions (drive, braking etc.); break-up of parts rotating at high speed; equipment for loading seeds (and fertilizer). It is not applicable to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) nor to environmental hazards (except noise). These aspects are covered by EN 13740-1:2003 and EN 13740-2:2003
38、for combined seed and solid fertilizer drills. This European Standard is not applicable to seed drills which are manufactured before the date of its publication as EN.
