    9、3377: 1969-05, 2007-10, 2015-01 DIN 53377:2015-04 4 1 Scope This standard specifies a method to determine dimensional changes in plastic films, which may be the result of various treatments, an example being the action of heat. NOTE 1 The test method can also be used to determine dimensional change

    10、in so-called “shrink films”. NOTE 2 The type of treatment to determine dimensional change is dependent on practical requirements. 2 Normative references The following documents, in whole or in part, are normatively referenced in this document and are indispensable for its application.     13、f this document, the following term and definition applies. 3.1 dimensional change change in dimensions relating to length or width as a result of a certain treatment of the plastic film 4 Test apparatus and materials 4.1 Callipers with a linear scale and vernier or digital callipers. Alternatively,

    14、 a linear gauge with appropriate graduations can be used, possibly in combination with a 6 times magnification magnifying glass, or other suitable optical measuring instruments. The optical measuring instrument used shall allow 1/10 of the permitted dimensional change to be read off and 1/20 of the

    15、permitted dimensional change to be estimated. 4.2 Base that is covered with polyester (PES) unwoven fabric (as specified in DIN EN ISO 105-B06). 4.3 Heating oven, as specified in DIN 12880. NOTE 1 Attention is drawn to the fact that when conventional heating ovens are used, opening of the door can c

    16、ause overshooting which can affect the test temperature to such an extent that the dimensional change is substantially falsified. NOTE 2 Because short storage periods in the heating oven are common, it shall be taken into account that the air flow settings (exhaust air or circulated air) as well as

    17、the type of base (heat transfer) can have a significant influence. 4.4 Press knife, square-shaped, as specified in DIN 16906, with an inside length of (150 null 1) mm or an appropriate template and a suitable cutting blade. 4.5 Indelible marker pen. DIN 53377:2015-04 5 5 Sampling Take samples as des

    18、cribed in Table 1 from the full width of the plastic film. The number of specimens to be taken from these shall be the subject of agreement.     20、d is not creased. The specimens, measuring 150 mm 150 mm, shall be cut out of the sample parallel to the machine direction by placing the press knife (see 4.4) on the grained side, provided that the sides are distinguishable from one another. NOTE The use of larger specimens, e.g. 300 mm 300 mm, can

    21、 be necessary for certain applications, primarily to improve the precision when the dimensional change is minimal. If measurements are to be taken on film of width 150 mm, specimens smaller in width may be used provided this does not increase the measurement uncertainty. In any case, specimens with

    22、divergent dimensions shall be agreed with the client in advance. 6.2 Using an indelible marker pen (see 4.5), lines and measuring points A, B, C and D are to be drawn on the sample, resulting in a square of side lengths (100 1) mm (see Figure 1). If a specimen with other dimensions is to be used, e.

    23、g. 300 mm 300 mm, a square should be drawn on the sample with a distance of (25 1) mm from each edge. If a specimen with a width less than 150 mm is to be used, the distance from each edge should not be less than (10 1) mm. DIN 53377:2015-04 6 Dimensions in millimetres Figure 1 Arrangement of lines

    24、and measuring points on the specimen 7 Conditioning of specimens Unless otherwise agreed, measurements shall be taken before and after treatment without any conditioning. 8 Procedure 8.1 On each specimen, the distances AB, CD, AC and BD shall be measured with the callipers (4.1). Measurements shall

    25、be taken at a temperature of (23 2) C. In cases of dispute, measurements shall be taken in a standard atmosphere according to DIN EN ISO 291. A deviation from the relative humidity of 5 % instead of 3 % is permitted. 8.2 The base (see 4.2) shall be placed in the centre of the heating oven and the he

    26、ating oven (see 4.3) shall be preheated to the testing temperature. 8.3 The specimens are to be placed on the base (see 4.2) with either the grained side, the upper side or the coated side facing upwards in the centre of the preheated oven. 8.4 At the end of the specified heating time, the specimens

    27、 shall be removed from the oven and measured immediately (no later than 5 min after removal). The distances between the points are to be measured according to the description in 8.1. DIN 53377:2015-04 7 9 Evaluation The dimensional change SL, in %, is to be calculated using Equations (1), (2) and (3

The mean value of the initial length L1, limited by the points ABCD on the specimen, is to be calculated as follows using Equation (1): 1=(1+1+1+1)4(1) where a1is the value for the dimension AB (see Figure 1), measured before the test; b1is the value for the dimension BD (see Figure 1), measured

    29、before the test; c1is the value for the dimension CD (see Figure 1), measured before the test; d1is the value for the dimension AC (see Figure 1), measured before the test. The mean value of the length after the testing L2, limited by the points ABCD on the specimen, is to be calculated as follows u

    30、sing Equation (2): 2=(2+2+2+2)4(2) where a2is the value for the dimension AB (see Figure 1), measured after the test; b2is the value for the dimension BD (see Figure 1), measured after the test; c2is the value for the dimension CD (see Figure 1), measured after the test; d2is the value for the dimen

    31、sion AC (see Figure 1), measured after the test; The percentage linear dimensional change SL is to be calculated using Equation (3): L=(21)1 100 (3) where L1is the mean value of the initial length, calculated using Equation (1); L2is the mean value of the length after the test, calculated using Equa

    32、tion (2). The dimensional change can have both positive and negative values. NOTE When necessary, the dimensional change can also be evaluated specific to direction (lengthwise and crosswise). DIN 53377:2015-04 8 10 Test report The test report shall contain the following information: a) reference to

    33、 this standard; b) type and designation of the product tested; c) shape and dimensions of specimens; d) number of specimens and position of specimens in film; e) measuring instruments used; f) dimensional change (individual values and mean values) in %, appropriate to the precision of the measuring instrument used; g) any deviation from the conditions specified in this standard; h) the test date.
