、CSA C22.2 No. 140.2 UL 984 4133 Vibration test33.1 If routing or protection of wiring or both, as required by Clauses 12.3 to 12.5, cannot be determined by visual examination, the motor-compressor shall be subjected to a Vibration Test. Following vibration, the wiring or its supplementary protection

、, either of which is subject to possible damage, shall withstand, for 1 minute without breakdown, the application of a 60 Hz potential of 2500 V.33.2 The motor-compressor sample shall be representative of production assemblies and may include an oil charge if one is provided at the time the motor-co

、mpressor leaves the manufacturers plant. The test sample shall be provided with openings that allow observation and adjustment of the wiring, or its supplementary protection or both, during the vibration period. The sample shall be mounted on a base that will maintain the motor-compressor in its int

、ended up-right position. Except that electrical connections are to remain intact, the wiring or its supplementary protection or both shall be arranged, as permitted by the design, so that it bears against any surface, edge, or part that it is likely to contact and thus cause abrasion. The wiring sha

、ll be allowed to move to its natural position during vibration.33.3 The test apparatus shall consist of a vibration table that provides synchronous motion with a total displacement of 25.4 mm (1 in). This motion is to be circular in the vertical plane with the table level at all times. The test samp

、le shall be positioned on the table but not secured in place except that it may be loosely restrained to limit the area of travel. The speed of the apparatus shall be adjusted so that the vibration frequency generates 1.6 mm (1/16 in) vertical displacement of the motor-compressor from the table.33.4

、 During the test, the motor-compressor shall be rotated 90 from a previous position so that four positions of the sample are subjected to vibration, each for a period of 105 minutes. At each change of position, wiring or its supplementary protection shall be arranged in accordance with Clause 33.2,

、if necessary, and the speed of the test apparatus adjusted so that the motor-compressor is displaced as indicated in Clause 33.3. If, during the test, any internal springs or tubes break or come loose, the test shall be discontinued and a new sample tested.33.5 After completion of vibration, dielect

、ric voltage shall be applied in accordance with Clause 33.1 at points of possible abrasion. For wiring, the conductor and metal foil wrapped around the insulation surface are to be used as electrodes. For supplementary protection, such as sleeving, the electrodes are to consist of a conductor(s) ins

、erted into the protective means and metal foil wrapped around its outer surface.34 Motor-compressor enclosure strength test34.1 Parts of a motor-compressor enclosure that are exposed to low-side or high-side pressure shall withstand, without leakage or rupture, a pressure equal toa) five times the m

、inimum design pressure for the refrigerant as shown in Table 45.1; or b) five times the design pressure assigned to the assembly, whichever is greater.34.2 A motor-compressor employing a bypass valve that relieves high-side pressure into the low-side at a predetermined pressure differential may requ

、ire the enclosure to be tested at a higher pressure. The test shall be conducted at a value of three times the pressure developed while the valve is relieving.34.3 Two samples of the enclosure shall be tested to determine compliance with the requirements of Clauses 34.1 and 34.2. The test medium sha

、ll be any inert liquid, such as water. The test samples shall be filled with the test medium to exclude air and shall be connected in a hydraulic pump system. The pressure shall be increased gradually until the required maximum pressure is attained. This pressure shall be maintained for 1 minute, du

、e Designation and Safety Classification of Refrigerants, ANSI/ASHRAE 34, as A1 or A1/A1, leakage at a gasket or seal is acceptable, provided that the leakage occurs at a pressure greater than 40 per cent of the required test pressure. The motor-compressor enclosure shall withstand the required test

、pressure even though leakage occurs at gaskets or seals.Exception No. 2: If a rupture member is employed as an integral part of a motor-compressor enclosure intended only for use with refrigerants classified in accordance with the Standard for the Designation and Safety Classification of Refrigerant

、s, ANSI/ASHRAE 34, as A1 or A1/A1, the rupture member may open, provided that it occurs at a pressure greater than 40 per cent of the required test pressure. The motor-compressor enclosure shall withstand the required test pressure even though the rupture member opens. If necessary, samples for use

、during the full required pressure test shall be prepared without the rupture member employed, so that the full required test pressure can be applied to the remainder of the compressor enclosure.34.4 Leakage, as referenced in Clauses 34.1 and 34.3, is to be determined visually; such as, by examinatio

、n of the sample for release of the test medium, or by a decreasing hydrostatic gauge pressure.35 Motor protective device strength test35.1 A motor protective device located within the motor-compressor enclosure shall withstand an external pressure equal to that applied to the motor-compressor enclos

、ration Check Test Motor Protective Device, Section 36.35.2 Two samples of the motor protective device are to be tested. The test medium shall be any nonhazardous liquid, such as water. The test samples shall be placed in a container filled with the test medium to exclude air. The container shall be

、connected to a hydraulic system whose pressure shall be increased gradually to the required test pressure, and then maintained at that pressure for 1 minute.36 Calibration check test motor protective device36.1 Both the cutout and cutin temperatures of an internal motor protective device, measured a

、fter the hydrostatic strength test mentioned in the exception to Clause 35.1, shall be within either 5C (9F) or 2.75 per cent of the temperatures in C, (or 5 per cent of the temperatures in F), whichever is greater, of the temperatures measured prior to the test.Update No. 2C22.2 No. 140.2-96April 2
