、ARD (CGSB), under whose auspices this National Standard of Canada has been developed is a government agency within Public Works and Government Services Canada. CGSB is engaged in the production of voluntary standards in a wide range of subject areas through the media of standards committees and the

、consensus process. The standards committees are composed of representatives of relevant interests including producers, consumers and other users, retailers, governments, educational institutions, technical, professional and trade societies, and research and testing organizations. Any given standard

、is developed on the consensus of views expressed by such representatives. CGSB has been accredited by the Standards Council of Canada as a national standards-development organization. The standards that it develops and offers as National Standards of Canada conform to the criteria and procedures est

、ablished for this purpose by the Standards Council of Canada. In addition to standards it publishes as national standards, CGSB produces standards to meet particular needs, in response to requests from a variety of sources in both the public and private sectors. Both CGSB standards and CGSB national

、 standards are developed in conformance with the policies described in the CGSB Policy Manual for the Development and Review of Standards. CGSB standards are subject to review and revision to ensure that they keep abreast of technological progress. Suggestions for their improvement, which are always

、 welcome, should be brought to the notice of the standards committees concerned. Changes to standards are issued either as separate amendment sheets or in new editions of standards. An up-to-date listing of CGSB standards, including details on latest issues and amendments, and ordering instructions,

、 is found in the CGSB Catalogue, which is published annually and is available without charge upon request. More information is available about CGSB products and services at our Web site www.ongc-cgsb.gc.ca. Although the intended primary application of this standard is stated in its Scope, it is impo

、rtant to note that it remains the responsibility of the users of the standard to judge its suitability for their particular purpose. The testing and evaluation of a product against this standard may require the use of materials and/or equipment that could be hazardous. This document does not purport

、 to address all the safety aspects associated with its use. Anyone using this standard has the responsibility to consult the appropriate authorities and to establish appropriate health and safety practices in conjunction with any applicable regulatory requirements prior to its use. CGSB neither assu

、mes nor accepts any responsibility for any injury or damage that may occur during or as the result of tests, wherever performed. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this Canadian standard may be the subject of patent rights. CGSB shall not be held responsible for ident

、ifying any or all such patent rights. Users of this standard are expressly advised that determination of the validity of any such patent rights is entirely their own responsibility. The principal objects of the SCC are to foster and promote voluntary standardization as a means of advancing the national economy, benefiting the health, safety and welfare of the public, assisting and protecting the consumer, facilitating domestic and international trade, and furthering inte

、rnational cooperation in the field of standards. A National Standard of Canada (NSC) is a standard prepared or reviewed by an accredited Standards Development Organization (SDO) and approved by the SCC according to the requirements of CAN-P-2. Approval does not refer to the technical content of the

、standard; this remains the continuing responsibility of the SDO. A NSC reflects a consensus of a number of capable individuals whose collective interests provide, to the greatest practicable extent, a balance of representation of general interests, producers, regulators, users (including consumers),

、 and others with relevant interests, as may be appropriate to the subject in hand. It normally is a standard, which is capable of making a significant and timely contribution to the national interest. Those who have a need to apply standards are encouraged to use NSCs. These standards are subject to

、 periodic review. Users of NSCs are cautioned to obtain the latest edition from the SDO, which publishes the standard. They are intended for use in spark ignition engines under a wide range of climatic conditions. 1.2 This standard is not intended to apply to the mixing of oxygenated gasolines and gasolines, either at the point of retail sale or after the point of retail sale. 1.3 Gasolin

、e specified in this standard may contain limited concentrations of aliphatic ethers and alcohols. 1.4 Provincial and federal regulations control some parameters included in this standard. Where such regulations establish more restrictive limits than those given in this standard, the regulated limits

DEFINITIONS The following definitions apply in this standard: 3.1 Antiknock Index The average of the Research ( RON) and Motor (MON) octane number for the fuel, i.e. (RON + MON)/2. 3.2 Benzene Emissions Number (BEN) This is an estimate of the evaporative, running and tailpipe b

B1.6). 3.3 Closed Loop Side Stream Sampler A sample line connected to a storage tank or pipeline capable of extracting a sample and re-injecting any excess back int

It is designed to ensure good vehicle performance relating to time-to-start, stalls, hesitations, stumbles, surges and backfiring. It is defined as TTTDI9050100.35.1 where: T10, T50, T90= temperature

、s (oC) at 10%, 50%, and 90% evaporated, see par. 6.15. 44、ents of CAN/CGSB-3.511. 3.8 Point of Retail Sale The location where the end user takes delivery of the product. 3.9 Primary Supplier For gasoline that is (a) manufactured in a refinery, the manufacturer; (b) imported, the importer; and (c) blended, the blender. 3.10 Primary Terminal A distribution f

、acility that i is connected directly to a refinery or ii can be supplied by pipeline from a refinery or iii receives imported product directly or iv is located on the Great Lakes and can be supplied by ship. 3.11 Proportional Sample A sample made by combin ing samples from different batches in volum

、etric proportion. 3.12 Recirculation Loop Piping and a transfer pump c onfigured into a loop and used to mix the product in a storage tank by recirculating the product from one part of the tank to another. 3.13 Sample Integrity No significant change in the detailed requirement being tested, i.e., be

、tween the sample point and the analytical equipment. 3.14 Volume Weighted Average The arithmetic average of results for samples taken from different gasoline batches, weighted to account for the volumes of the batches. 3.15 Yearly Pool Average The volume weighed average of a parameter in the gasolin

、e supplied by a primary supplier during a calendar year. 4. CLASSIFICATION 4.1 The gasoline shall be supplied in the following grades, as specified (par. 8.1). 4.1.1 Grades Grade 1 Regular Grade 2 Mid-grade Grade 3 Premium Grade 4 Super-Premium 5. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS 5.1 The gasoline shall comply w

、ith this standard at the point of retail sale except for the volatility requirements specified in par. 5.2. 5.2 Volatility Requirements The requirements for vapour pressure, distillation, and driveability index are adjusted by geographic zone of intended use and time of year. The zones are described in Table 2 and shown in Figures 1, 2
