The concept and the principles of ISDNs are described in Recommendation T/GSI 01-02. The Recommendations in the T

、/GSI 02 series cover the aspects of the Telecommunication services suppor- ted by ISDNs. The T/GSI 03 series of Recommendations deals with the aspects relating to the overall network and to network functional entities. 1.2. The purpose of this Recommendation is to provide a method for the characteri

、zation of Telecommunication services and Network Capabilities in an ISDN. 2. AXTRIBUTE METHOD 2.1. Outline of the Method This characterization should be made by using a set of attributes (see Figure 1). An attribute is defined as a specified characteristic of an object or element whose values distin

、guish that object, element from others (T/GSI 01-03: Definitions 208, 207, 315). Particular values are assigned to each attribute when a given Telecommunication Service or Network Capability is described and specified. Characterization by attributes should be used in the ISDN series of Recommendatio

、ns when appropriate. 2.2. Basic Rules - Each attribute is assigned a name and definition. - A given attribute should have the same name and denition in all Recommendations. - Some attributes may apply to only one object, others may be applicable to several objects. In this case - A given value shoul

、d have the same name and the same definition in all the Recommendations. - Depending on the nature of the object described, a particular attribute may need to be used more than the same attribute name is to be used. once.
