3、hat in several CEPT member countries, the services alarm call and malicious call identjcation are offered, which may involve the feature automatic number identjcation (ANI); - that in the future, other services as well as the setting up and charging of a call which provides a homogenous digital path

DEFINITION Automatic number identiJcation (ANI) is defined as the ability of an exchange to identify the teleph
5、one number of a subscribers line connected to it. 2. DESCRIPTION 2.1. 2.2. This number can be: The exchange must be capable of identifying the telephone number of a calling or called subscriber line. - registered in the appropriate form according to specific requirements; - sent to another exchange
6、involved in the call, by means of appropriate inter-exchange signalling - printed or displayed; - sent to a specialised centre, e.g. an administrative centre. protocols ; 2.3. For certain types of call, e.g. in connection with some supplementary services, it may be necessary to identify in an exchan
7、ge the numbers of both the calling and the cailed line; this can be accomplished by means of automatic number identification for the locally connected line, and may require an inter-exchange signalling protocol for the remote line. In the case of a private automatic branch exchange (PABX), the autom
8、atic number identification performed by the public exchange is limited to the directory number of the PABX. Moreover, an additional automatic number identification could be performed by the PABX concerning the extension involved and sent to the public exchange by an appropriate signalling protocol.
9、2.4. 3. TECHNICAL CHARACIERISTICS The exchange should provide %he means for receiving and storing international telephone numbers. The exchange identifies the telephone number of a subscribers line by investigating correspondence between equipment numbers and telephone numbers. Note: The studies on
10、this series (T/CS 20) of Recommendations for the features in an analogue environment has now been terminated. A continuation of the studies has started with the aim to amend these existing features, where necessary, and to specify new features for the ISDN. These Recommendations will be gathered in

UTILISATION Automatic number identification is used in combination with other features for a number of services. A special subscriber procedure may be used to initiate
12、 a sequence of actions, whose ultimate result would be a print-out or display of selected data concerning the call in which the subscriber is involved.
