Theminimumignitionenergyisafunctionofthedust/airmixturedynamics/turbulenceandthedustconcentration.The minimumignitione

    37、nergyshallbemeasuredattheoptimumdustconcentrationandthelowestturbulencelevel experimentallyattainable.Theturbulencelevelisreducedbyextendingtheignitiondelaytimeuntilaslongadelay timeasisfeasiblefortheapparatusisdetermined. Theoptimumdustconcentrationandthelowestturbulencelevelcannotbeobtainedinonest

    38、ep.Thereforean iterativeprocedureisrequiredofwhichthemainstepsareasfollows: Step1 Startwithavalueofignitionenergythatwillreliablycauseignitionofagivenconcentrationinairofthedustbeing tested.Reducethesparkenergyinsteps(e.g.by50%)atthegivendustconcentrationuntilthedustclouddoesno longerigniteinanyof10

    39、testsatagivenenergy. Step2 Continuetheprocedurevarying thedustconcentrationatthelowestenergyfoundinStep 1.Ifforanydust concentrationanignitionoccurs,thenrepeatStep1atthatconcentration. Step3 Repeattheprocedurebythiscombinationofsparkenergyanddustconcentrationvaryingthedelaytime(turbulence) untilthem
