Together with BS EN 12952-1:2001, BS EN 12952-2:2001, BS EN 12952-3:2001, BS EN 12952-5:2001, BS EN 12952-6:2002, BS EN 12952-7:2002 and BS EN 12952-11:2007, it supersedes BS 1113:1999 which remains current and obsolescent. The obsolescent status means that the standard will no longer be update

This status is given to BS 1113:1999 on the basis that there are numer- ous boilers throughout the world with long expectations of life that will require use of this standard for service and repair, enabling justification of continued service of the boilers. The UK participation in its preparatio

    4、n was entrusted to Technical Committee PVE/2, Water-tube and shell boilers. A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on request to its secretary. This publication does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users are responsible for its correc

    27、devicewhichshallensureagainstexcessivepressure.Thetotalcerti fieddischargecapacityofallsafetydevicesmountedontheboilershallbeatleastequaltothemaximumcontinu ousrating(MCR)oftheboiler.Thesuitabilityofthesafetydeviceshallbedemonstratedbyahottestontheas sembledboiler. The number and type of safety devi

    28、ces to be installed shall be specified by the manufacturer and shall meet the requirementsofthisclause. Atleastoneofthefollowingsafetydeviceshallbeconsideredsuitable: a) directloadedsafetyvalvesinaccordancewithprEN12681or; b) assistedsafetyvalvesinaccordancewithprEN12681or; c) supplementaryloadedsaf

    29、etyvalvesinaccordancewithprEN12681or; d) pilotoperatedsafetyvalve(POSV)inaccordancewithprEN12681orprENISO41264,consistingofamain valve,controlledbysignalsfrom3pilotvalves; e) controlledsafetypressurereliefsystem(CSPRS)inaccordancewithprEN12685,consistingofamainvalve, controlledbysignalsfrom3sensingl

Thesizeandpositionofthepressuresensinglinesshallensurethattheriskoflossoffunctionisr

    31、educedtoa minimum. Themechanicalandelectricalpartsofthepilotandcontrolunitwhichareusedtoactuatethemainvalvesshall stillbefunctionallyfiteveninthecaseofanassumedindividualdefect. Itshallbepossibletoprovethereliabilityofthesafetypressurereliefdevicebyfunctionaltestingontheplant. Incaseofassisted,suppl

    32、ementaryloadedsafetyvalves,POSVandCSPRSshallbeallowedtocontroloneormore mainvalvesbythesamecontrolunit. 5.1.2 TheminimumflowdiameterofsafetyvalvesormainvalvesofPOSVorCSPRSforboilerswithavolume 10litresshallbeatleast6mmandforvolumes10litresshallbeatleast15mm. 5.1.3 Inthecaseofboilerswithoutsuperheate

    33、r(s)thesafetyvalvesormainvalvesofPOSVorCSPRSshallbe connectedtothesteamspace. NOTE Ifthetotalrequireddischargecapacityis q m andthedrumspaceissimultaneously protected by n safety devices (n1)thedischargecapacityofeachofthemshouldbeatleast q m /(n+1). 5.1.4 Inthecaseofoncethroughsteamgeneratorsthesaf

    34、etyvalvesormainvalvesofPOSVorCSPRSshall belocatedatthesteamoutletoftheboiler. 5.1.5 Inthecaseofsuperheatersthatcannotbeisolatedthefollowingshallapply: 1) Safetydevicesinaccordancewith5.1.1locatedatthesuperheateroutletshallbeofsufficientcapacitytopre venttheallowablewalltemperatureofthesuperheaterfro

    35、mbeingexceeded. 2) Safetydevicesinaccordancewith5.1.1a),b)andc)ratedforatleast75%orinaccordancewith5.1.1.d)or e)ratedforatleast25%oftherequireddischargecapacityshallbelocatedatthesaturatedsteamspaceof theboiler.Nosafetydevicesneedbeinstalledatthesaturatedsteamspaceifthecapacityofthesafetydevice inac

    36、cordancewith5.1.1d)ore)locatedatthesuperheateroutletcorrespondstothetotalsteamquantitytobe dischargedandatleastonepressuresignalistransmittedtothecontrolunitfromthesaturatedsteamspace. 3) The superheater safety device shall be so set as to respond, in the case of natural and forced circulation boile

    37、rs,beforethesafetydeviceonthesaturatedsteamspace. 5.1.6 AsuperheaterthatcanbeisolatedshallbeequippedwithatleastonesafetyvalveormainvalveofPOSV orCSPRSatthesuperheateroutlet.ThesafetyvalveormainvalveofPOSVorCSPRSshallberatedforatleast 20%oftherequireddischargecapacityoftheboiler.Thesafetyvalveormainv

    38、alveofPOSVorCSPRSlocated onthesaturatedsteamspaceofthesteamgeneratorshallinthiscaseberatedforthemaximumcontinuousrating. Ifthesuperheatercanbeisolatedprecautionsshallbetakentopreventoverheating. 5.1.7 EveryreheatershallhaveatleastonesafetyvalveormainvalveofPOSVorCSPRSwithatotaldischarge capacityofno

    39、tlessthanthemaximumsteamflowforwhichthereheaterisdesigned. 5.1.8 There shall be no shut off devices between the boiler and its protective safety devices or between the safetydevicesandtheirpointsofdischarge. 5.1.9 Directloadedsafetyvalvesshallbeinstalledintheverticalposition.Thelineleadingtothesafet

    40、yvalve (inletpipe)shallbeasshortandstraightaspossibleandshouldnotbelocatedoppositetoothernozzles. Safetydevicesshallbesafeguardedagainstdamagingexternalinfluences,e.g.theweather,whichmayimpair the functionalcapabilityofthesafetydevice.Thetransferofvibrationsontothesafetydeviceshallbeavoided. Safetyd

    41、eviceoutletpipesshalldischargetheeffluentsafely.Noliquidshallbeallowedtoaccumulateintheoutlet system.Wherethepipe is endangered byfreezing, itshall be protectedaccordingly. Taking into account the local operating conditions, the pipes shall be so dimensioned and laid out so as to safely withstand th

    42、e static, dynamic (reactionforces)andthermalloadings.     43、dingtothesafetyvalveormainvalveofPOSVorCSPRS(inletpipe)shall notbelessthanthesafetyvalveormainvalveofPOSVorCSPRSinletcrosssection. The outlet pipe crosssection shall not be less than the safety valve or main valve of POSV or CSPRS outlet crosssection.
