    29、ftheproduct.Theexaminationconsistsof: a) locatingandevaluationofdiscontinuitybycomparingtheamplitudeofthediscontinuityechowiththeamplitude oftheechoofflatbottomedholeofagivendiameterandlocatedatthesamedepthasthediscontinuity; NOTE Onlythosediscontinuitiesgivinganechoamplitudeequaltoorgreaterthanthat

    30、obtainedwiththereferenceflat bottomedholearetakenintoconsideration. b) determiningtheareaofthediscontinuityaccordingtothe6dBbeamwidthtechnique.Thewidthofthe discontinuityshallbedeterminedperpendiculartotherollingdirection.Thelengthshallbedeterminedinthe rollingdirection. Theexaminationiscarriedoutwi

    31、thadoubletransducerprobeduringthefirstultrasonicscan(firstbackwallecho) andfromonesideonly. 6Procedure Theinspectionisnormallycarriedoutintheplaceofproductionoronthepremisesofthesupplier.Ifspecifiedon theorder,theinspectionmaytakeplaceinthepresenceofthepurchaserorhisrepresentative 1) . Ultrasonictes

    32、tingshallbeperformedinaccordancewithawrittenprocedure.Wherespecifiedintheenquiryor order,thewrittenprocedureshallbesubmittedtothepurchaserforapprovalpriortotesting. 1) Inthiscase,allstepsshouldbetakentoensurethattheproductionprocessisnotdisturbed.EN10306:2001(E) 6 Thiswrittenprocedureshallbeinthefor

    33、mof: a) aproductspecification;or, b) aprocedurewrittenspecificallyfortheapplication;or, c) thisEuropeanStandardmaybeusedifitisaccompaniedbyexaminationdetailsspecifictotheapplication. Theprocedureshallcontainthefollowingdetailsasaminimumrequirement: a) descriptionoftheitemtobeexamined; b)reference do

    34、cuments ; c) qualificationandcertificationofexaminationpersonnel; d) stageofmanufactureatwhichtheexaminationiscarriedout; e) examinationzonesspecifiedintermsoftheapplicableQualityClasses; f) anyspecialpreparationofscanningsurfaces,ifapplicable; g)couplant ; h) descriptionofexaminationequipment; i) c

    35、alibration; j) scanningplan; k) descriptionandsequenceofexaminationoperations; l) recordinglevels; m) characterisationofdiscontinuities; n) acceptancecriteria; o)examination report. 7Personnel qualification Itisassumedthatultrasonictestingisperformedbyqualifiedandcapablepersonnel.Inordertoprovethis

    36、qualification,itisrecommendedtocertifythepersonnelinaccordancewithEN473orequivalent. 8 Ultrasonictestequipment 8.1Instrument TheinstrumentformanualtestingshallfeatureAscanpresentationandshallcomplywiththerequirementsof EN126681.EN10306:2001(E) 7 8.2Probe 8.2.1General Thedoubletransducerprobestobeuse

    37、dformanualtestingshallconformtotherequirementsofEN126682. Additionally,othertypesofprobesmaybeused.SuchsupplementaryprobesneednotcomplywithEN126682 requirements. 8.2.2 Nominalfrequency Probesshallhaveanominalfrequencyintherangefrom2MHzto5MHz. 8.2.3 Typeofprobe Thegreatesttransducerdimensionshallbein

    38、therangefrom9mmto25mmunlessotherwiseagreed. 8.3 Calibrationblocks CalibrationblocksshallconformtotherequirementsdetailedinEN12223. 8.4Reference blocks Referenceblocksshallbemadefromamaterialhavingsimilaracousticpropertiestotheproducttobeexamined. Thesurfaceconditionofthereferenceblockshallberepresen

    40、trysurfaceandfreefrompitsor scoremarksthatsignificantlydegradeitsultrasonicreflectivity.Thetolerancesonthediameteroftheflatbottomed holeorwidthofrecessshallbe5%. 8.5Couplant Thecouplantusedshallbeappropriatetotheapplication.Thesametypeofcouplantshallbeusedforcalibration, settingsensitivity,scanninga

    41、ndevaluationofdiscontinuities. Afterexamination,couplantshallberemovedifitspresencecouldadverselyaffectlatermanufacturingor inspectionoperationsortheintegrityoftheproduct. NOTE Waterisnormallyusedbutothercouplingmediamaybeusedatthediscretionofthesupplier. 9 Routinecalibrationandchecking Thecombinede

    42、quipment(instrumentandprobes)formanualtestingshallbecalibratedandcheckedin accordancewiththerequirementsdetailedinEN126683. 10 Stageofmanufacture Ultrasonictestingshallbeperformedinthedeliveryconditionunlessotherwiseagreedatthetimeofenquiryand order.EN10306:2001(E) 8 11Surface condition Theproductsa

    43、renormallyexaminedwithoutanyspecialsurfacepreparation.Scanningsurfacesshallbefreefrom paint,nonadheringscale,drycouplant,surfaceirregularitiesoranyothersubstancewhichcouldreducecoupling efficiency,hinderthefreemovementoftheprobeorcauseerrorsininterpretation.Thesurfaceconditionshallbe consideredacceptableprovidingthespecifiedqualityclasscanbeachieved. 12 Sensitivitysetting Calibrationoftheultrasonictestequipmentforuseparticularlyrequiresthatthetimebase,powerandamplification bedeterminedaccordingtoEN5832.
