During these tests there shall be no visible indication of leakage from the valve. 13 Tests of sealing rings or other elastomeric type seals Sealing rings and other elastomeric type seals shall comply with AppendixB of BS2494:1976.BS667

、5:1986 6 BSI 08-1999 Appendix A Method for the determination of the rate of flow A.1 Principle The flow rate test determines whether the servicing valve under test delivers water at a minimum rate in accordance withTable 1. A.2 Apparatus A.2.1 A cold water system, consisting of a water supply which,

、 at the running pressure specified inTable 1, is capable of delivering a quantity of water not less than50% in excess of the minimum flow rate of the servicing valve under test when the outlet of the supply pipe is open to atmosphere. A.2.2 A pressure gauge (manometer), graduated with a suitable sca

、le and having an accuracy of 2% at the test pressure. NOTEA suitable scale is one indicating one-thousandths of a bar. A.2.3 A flow meter (or other means of measuring flow), graduated with a suitable scale and having an accuracy of 2% of the test flow rate. NOTEA suitable scale is one indicating one

、-hundredths of a litre per second. A.2.4 A pressure take-off tee, the inlet and outlet being suitable for22mm pipe in accordance with BS2871 as shown in Figure 2. A.2.5 A 22 mm control valve, capable of regulation to achieve a0.1bar accuracy in accordance withA.3.3. A.2.6 Copper pipes, complying wit

、h the requirements of TableX of BS2871-1:1971 to be connected to the servicing valve under test, and having the following features: a) 22 mm outside diameter copper pipe for the general construction of the rig up to the inlet connection of the pressure take-off tee. Dimension A shall be250 2mm as sh

、own in Figure 1. b) 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm and 22 mm outside diameter copper pipes adapted to suit the outlet connection of the take-off tee, and the inlet of the servicing valve under test. Dimension B shall be2502mm as shown in Figure 1. c) 10 mm, 12 mm, 15 mm and 22 mm outside diameter copper pipes

、adapted to suit the outlet connection of the servicing valve under test. Dimension C shall be250 2mm horizontal and1202mm vertical as shown in Figure 1. A.3 Procedure A.3.1 Connect the test circuit, as shown in Figure 1, to the cold water supply. A.3.2 Connect the servicing valve to be tested to the

、 test apparatus as shown in Figure 1. A.3.3 Open the servicing valve to the fullest extent and adjust the water supply so that the pressure gauge (manometer) indicates the required0.1bar running pressure. Appendix B Information to be supplied by the purchaser When enquiring about or ordering servici

、ng valves that comply with this British Standard, the purchaser should provide the manufacturer with the following information: a) the nominal size; b) the required end connection(s); c) whether dezincification resistant valves are required see3.1 e) andf) and clause5; d) the means of operation of the valve (see6.2); e) whether the valve is required to be plated (seeclause11).BS6675:1986 BSI 08-1999 7 NOTE 1The lettered references are explained in A.2.6.
