    12、of bayonet lamp-caps, lampholders and lampholder-plugs (B.C. adaptors) for voltages not exceeding 250 volts. BS 354, Photometric integrators. The British Standard for exciter lamps for35mm projectors, prepared under the authority of the Cinematograph Industry Standards Committee in response to a req

    13、uest from the Cinematograph Exhibitors Association, was first published in1942. In this revision the range of lamps has been extended to meet the current requirements of the manufacturers of16mm as well as35mm projectors, whilst some of the lamps in the previous edition, now no longer in current use

    14、, have been omitted. Approximate dimensions of the filaments are now included, and the requirements relating to the position of the filament when burning have been clarified and amplified. As all British Standards on cinematography are to become eventually Sections or Subsections of BS5550, this Sta

    15、ndard, which was confirmed (as BS1015) in1977, has been renumbered as BS5550-7.1.1. BSI Sectional List1, obtainable free from BSI Sales Department, catalogues the British Standards on cinematography. The latest edition of SL1 should be referred to particularly in view of this development. A British

    16、Standard does not purport to include all the necessary provisions of a contract. Users of British Standards are responsible for their correct application.     18、his British Standard covers exciter lamps for16mm and35mm motion picture projectors, as shown inTable 1. 2 Definitions For the purposes of this British Standard the following definitions apply: 2.1 batch all the lamps of one type put forward at one time for test 2.2 inspection test quantity (I.T.Q.)

    19、 the number of lamps to be tested to determine whether a batch satisfies the mechanical and physical requirements 2.3 rating test quantity (R.T.Q.) the number of lamps to be tested to determine whether a batch satisfies the requirements for initial readings 2.4 life test quantity (L.T.Q.) the number

    20、 of lamps to be tested to determine whether a batch satisfies the requirements for life and for lumen maintenance 2.5 light centre length the distance from the geometrical centre of the filament to a specified position on the cap 2.6 lumen the unit of luminous flux. The flux emitted in a solid angle

    21、 of one steradian by a point source having a uniform intensity of one candela. (Abbreviation: lm) 2.7 initial readings the photometric and electric measurements, made at the end of the ageing period 2.8 life the number of hours a lamp operates to burn-out or to any other criterion of life performanc

    22、e under the conditions laid down in this British Standard 2.9 specified life the life in hours given in the appropriate schedule 2.10 lumen output maintenance the light output of a lamp at a specified time in its life expressed as a percentage of its initial light output 2.11 rated voltage the volta

    23、ge marked on the lamps 2.12 rated amperage the amperage marked on the lamps 2.13 axis of lamp a line coincident with the axis of the cap or the pre-focus flange 2.14 vertical plane of lamp for a lamp with a bayonet cap, the plane containing the axis of the cap and passing through the centre line of

    24、the cap pins. For a lamp with a pre-focus flange, the plane containing the axis of the flange and making an angle of37 with the plane which passes through both the axis of the flange and the centre of the locating notch 2.15 horizontal plane of filament the plane which passes through the geometrical

    25、 centre of the filament and is at right angles to the axis of the (transverse filament) lamp Section 2. Requirements 3 General When exciter lamps are supplied as being in accordance with this British Standard, they shall be taken from a batch which has been found to satisfy the conditions of Section

    26、 4 of this Standard. Alternatively, by arrangement between purchaser and manufacturer, the lamps shall individually comply with the requirements of Clauses4 to 9 inclusive as well as being taken from a batch which has been found to satisfy the conditions of Section4 of this Standard. 4 Standard exci

    31、 be as given in Columns10, 11and12 ofTable 1, and, with the lamps operating, the filaments shall be located in accordance with the requirements given in a) and b) below: a) Lamps with transverse filaments. The vertical plane of the lamp shall bisect the filament within the amounts given for dimensio

    32、n C inFigure 3a and Table 2. No part of the axis of the filament terminating at the ends of the coil shall depart from the horizontal plane of the filament by more than dimensions D and E inFigure 3a andTable 2, nor shall it lie outside vertical planes at90 to the vertical plane of the lamp and dist

    33、ant from the vertical plane by the amounts F and G inFigure 3b and Figure 3c andTable 2. Table 2 Tolerances on location of transverse filaments b) Lamps with axial filaments. The filament shall lie within a cylinder which is coaxial with the axis of the lamp and which has a diameter of2mm. 7 Bulbs T

    34、he bulb shall be clean, uniform in shape and free from detrimental defects. 8 Caps The cap on the finished lamp shall comply with BS52 1) . The caps shall be so constructed and attached to the bulbs that they will withstand a torque of10lbf in, using the appropriate special holders detailed inAppend

    35、ix B. This torque shall not be applied suddenly, but shall be increased continuously from zero to the amount specified. 9 Microphonic noise Care should be taken in the design and production of the lamp to avoid such characteristics as may leadto microphonic noise. 10 Marking Each lamp shall be disti

    36、nctly and durably marked with the following information: i) Rated voltage. ii) Rated amperage. iii) Trade mark. iv) Type designation (seeTable 1). Section 3. Batch testing procedure A. Test quantities 11 Principles of sampling The lamps for test shall be selected so as to ensure proper representatio

    37、n of the total. 12 Inspection test quantity (I.T.Q.) There shall be selected an I.T.Q. consisting of5per cent of the batch with a minimum of35and a maximum of70lamps 2) . 13 Rating test quantity (R.T.Q.) From the lamps which comprised the I.T.Q. there shall be selected at random an R.T.Q. consisting

    38、 of five-sevenths of the I.T.Q 2) . 14 Life test quantity (L.T.Q.) From the lamps which comprised the R.T.Q. there shall be selected at random an L.T.Q. consisting of one-half of the R.T.Q. 2) B. Conditions of test 15 Position of operation For photometric readings the lamp shall be operated in the v

    39、ertical position cap down. In the ageing and life tests the lamp shall be operated in the position for which it is designed to be used, as given in Table 1; lamps with axial filaments shall be operated with the filament supporting frame below the filament. 16 Ageing Before the initial readings are t

    40、aken, the lamps shall be aged at the rated voltage for1hour. Type of lamp C D and E max.     41、 voltages not exceeding250volts”. 2) In the case of a fraction resulting from this calculation the next higher whole number shall be taken.BS5550-7.1.1:1980 BSI 12-1999 5 17 Photometry Readings shall be taken at the rated voltage with a suitable integrating photometer. NOTEA suitable integrating pho

    42、tometer is specified in BS354 “Integrating photometers”. 18 Life test a) Supply. The lamps shall be tested on alternating current at a nominal frequency of50cycles per second at the rated voltage. b) Voltage control. The test voltage throughout the life test shall not depart from the rated voltage b

    43、y more than1per cent and there shall be no significant departure of the average value throughout the life test period from the rated voltage. Records shall be kept throughout the life test by a recording voltmeter. c) Switching on and off. Lamps on life test shall be switched off twice daily for per

    44、iods of not less than15minutes, such periods not being considered as part of the life of the lamp. d) Accidentally broken lamps. Lamps which are accidentally broken before the completion of the life test shall, when necessary, be replaced to ensure that the required number of lamps complete the test

    45、. Any such replaced lamps shall be neglected in calculating the results.     46、 of the specified life. Section 4. Requirements for compliance 20 General A batch shall be considered as satisfying the requirements of Section 3 of this standard if the requirements contained in Clauses21 and22 are fulfilled. If the batch fails to satisfy the requirements of either of these clauses

    47、, it shall be deemed not to comply with the standard. 21 Mechanical and physical requirements The number of lamps failing shall not exceed the qualifying limit shown in the table below: 22 Initial readings a) The number of lamps whose amperage is above the maximum value specified in Column3 ofTable

    48、3 shall not exceed the qualifying limit shown in the table below: b) The number of lamps whose light output is below the value specified in Column4 ofTable 3 shall not exceed the qualifying limit shown in the table below: 23 Lumen output maintenance The lumens output at50 5 per cent of the rated lif

    49、e shall comply with the requirements of Column5 ofTable 3. 24 Life performance Any lamp failing to satisfy the lumen output maintenance figures shown inTable 3 shall be deemed to have failed at the life hours when measured.
