All surfaces which may be included in the sample obtained by sawing shall be cleaned by scratch-brushing, and finally by soft brushing to remove the loose surface contaminants. c) Sampling of the selected ingots. In the case of recta

20、ngular shaped ingots they shall be placed side by side and a line drawn diagonally from the top of the first ingot to the bottom of the last. A saw cut shall be made with a hand saw with fine teeth(18 to the inch), in the side of each ingot at a point opposite that at which the diagonal cuts the cen

In the case of ingots in the form of a number of linked circular sections, sampling shall be carried out by sawing along a diameter as far as the centre of one of the sections from each ingot.

22、The circular section chosen should be such that each position within the type of ingot is represented approximately an equal number of times in the final sample. All sawings shall be collected and mixed thoroughly, any iron contamination being removed by means of a powerful magnet. If any oil is pre

If the sawings are of uniform small size, no further treatment is necessary other than thorough mixing and sampling by coning and quartering.
