    17、 the UNI, which is used to mapthe service of the Service Specific Connection Oriented Protocol (SSCOP) to theneeds of the UNI layer 3 protocol (e.g., ITU-T (formerly CCITT) RecommendationQ.2931). This function is called Service Specific Coordination Function (SSCF) forsignalling at the UNI.The ATM A

    18、daptation Layer (AAL) is defined to enhance the services provided by theATM layer to support the functions required by the next higher layer. Different AALssupport various protocols to suit the different needs of a range of AAL service users.One particular type of AAL service user is the signalling

    19、AAL (SAAL) comprises AALfunctions necessary to support such a signalling entity. The structure of the SAAL isdefined in ITU-T Recommendation Q.2100. The SAAL is divided into two sublayers:a Common Part Convergence Sublayer (CPCS) and a Service Specific ConvergenceSublayer (SSCS). The common part pro

    20、tocol is used as a basis for the service spe-cific part for signalling and is defined in ITU-T Recommendation I.363.5. The SSCS isfunctionally divided into two parts. The Service Specific Connection Oriented Proto-col (SSCOP), which provides an assured data transfer service and the Service Spe-cific

    21、 Coordination Function (SSCF). The SSCOP is defined in draft ITU-TRecommendation Q.2110.The SSCF at the UNI performs a coordination function between the service requiredby the signalling layer 3 (Q.2931) user and the service provided by SSCOP. This rec-ommendation describes for the SSCF at the UNI t

    22、he mapping of primitives from layer3 to signals of the SSCOP and vice versa.The current revision of this standard was made to indicate that the American NationalStandard for a B-ISDN ATM adaptation layer service specific coordination functionfor support of signaling at the UNI is the ITU-T Recommend
