    3、e treestands. This practice alsoapplies to climbing sticks which shall meet the same require-ments as the steps to ladder and tripod type stands. Terminology3.1 The terminology and defin

    6、itions in the referenced docu-ments are applicable to this practice.3.2 Definitions:3.2.1 climbing sticka device to assist climbing a treeparticularly to a fixed position treestand. A structure that issecured to the tree and allows the user to support his weightand climb to a desired height on the t

    7、ree.3.2.2 ladder treestanda treestand that is secured to thetree at an elevation where the platform is located. (The laddertreestand may be secured to the tree at other locations and hassteps that are used to reach the platform or hunting position.)3.2.3 platformthe horizontal structural area of a t

    8、reestandon which the user stands, sits and/or places their feet.3.2.4 treestanda device designed to be affixed to a tree orits branches so as to permit an individual to sit or stand thereonfor the purpose of attaining an elevated position from which toobserve, photograph or hunt.3.2.5 tripod or towe

    9、r standa tripod or tower stand isconstructed to be self-supporting and is not required to besecured to a tree.4. Summary of Practice4.1 This practice provides guidelines for the selection oftests for the evaluation of the load capacity of ladder tree-stands, tripod type treestands and climbing stick

    10、s in accordancewith manufacturers capacity rating, particularly for qualityassurance and adequacy of safety factors including:4.1.1 Static load test.4.1.2 Stability test.4.1.3 Repetitive loading test.NOTE 1Steps only.4.1.4 In the event of a repetitive load failure, manufactureris to submit two addit

Significance and Use5.1 This practice is provided to develop and maintainuniformity for the evaluation of the load capacity of ladder andtripod type stands and climbing sticks, particularly with regardto quality assurance and safety factors.5.2 It is

Procedure6.1 The following methods are recommended for individualunits and situations:6.1.1 An individual test unit of the specified model shall beselected at random.6.1.2 The test units shall first be visually inspected f

    16、or anyflaws and defects, missing parts, etc., and any discrepancies arenoted. The test unit shall also be checked, and so noted, toassure that instructions are included with the unit.6.1.3 A test shall be performed to determine the static loadcapacity of the platform, steps, and seat (when present).

    17、 Testsshall be performed on the platform, seat section (when present)and 25 % or a minimum of one of the steps in accordance withTest Method F 2126. Deflection measurements shall not beperformed on the steps.6.1.4 A stability test on the platform shall be performed ingeneral accordance with Test Met

    18、hod F 2125.6.1.5 A repetitive loading test shall be performed on at leastone of the stands steps with the test subject assembled and inplace against the test pole in accordance with Test MethodF 2128. The steps shall be selected at a location approximatelytwo-thirds of the total assembled vertical h

    19、eight. The totalnumber of load cycles shall be the number of steps multipliedby 500 (based on the usage of cycle up and down with eachuse, 25 days per year for 10 years).6.1.6 This section applies to test subjects that are designedto be used by two people at the same time, and thus have higherrated

    20、loads to include the weight of two people. Static testingat twice the rated load and stability testing at one times therated load shall be performed on the platform section, inaccordance with Test Methods F 2126 and F 2125 respectfully.However, static and repetitive testing at one times the ratedloa

    21、d shall be performed on the step according to Test MethodF 2128 since only one person can stand on the ladder step at atime.7. Failure Criterion7.1 During all testing yielding permanent deformation,cracks or other structural defects shall be cause for failure.Visual inspection shall be the main insp

    22、ection method; how-ever, other non-destructive test methods may be used todetermine if yielding has occurred.8.
