    3、 Scope*1.1 This specification covers chlorinated poly(vinyl chlo-ride) (CPVC) threaded Schedule 80 pipe fittings. Included arerequirements for materials, workmanship, dimensions, andburst pressure.NOTE 1The CPVC fittings covered by this specification were coveredpreviously in Specification D 2464.1.

    4、2 The products covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanuf

    5、acturers do not allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 2Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious saf

    6、teyhazards should a system fail for any reason.1.3 The text of this specification references notes, footnotes,and appendixes which provide explanatory material. Thesenotes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shallnot be considered as requirements of the specification.1.4 The values

    16、 Classification4.1 GeneralThis specification covers threaded Schedule80 CPVC pipe fittings, intended for use with threaded Iron PipeSize (IPS) outside-diameter plastic pipe.4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings, unions, bushings,caps, ni

    17、pples, etc., shall be molded or machined from extrudedstock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by backwelding are not included inthis specification.NOTE 3This specification does not include requirements for pipe andfittings intended to be used to vent combustion gases.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This spe

    18、cification covers CPVC pipe fittings made fromcompounds meeting the requirements of Class 23447 asdefined in Specification D 1784.NOTE 4Mechanical strength, heat resistance, flammability, andchemical resistance requirements are covered in Specification D 1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers sha

    19、ll use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 The dimensions and tolerances of the fittings shall beas shown in Table 1 and Table 2 when measured in a

    20、ccordancewith Test Method D 2122. Minimum dimensions have zeronegative tolerances. Bushings shall have thread lengths appli-cable to the corresponding sizes. Counterbore, which is op-tional, is not shown in Table 1, and is not included in thecenter-to-end or end-to-end dimensions.6.1.2 Fittings Not

    21、IllustratedAll fittings, whether illus-trated in Table 1 and Table 2 or not, shall have wall thicknessesand thread dimensions conforming to 6.1 and 6.2.6.2 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F 1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.4.6.3 Burst Pre

    22、ssure:6.3.1 The minimum burst strength of the fittings shall be notless than that calculated for the size and wall thickness of thepipe with which it is to be used, when calculated from thefollowing equation:S 5 P Do2 t!/2 t (1)where:S = hoop stress, psi (or MPa),P = internal pressure, psi (or MPa),

(or mm).Fittings tested in accordance with 8.5 shall withstand theminimum burst pressure shown in Table 3.6.3.2 Pressures shown are minimum burst pressures and donot imply rated working pressures. The burst pressure shall

    24、beused only as an indication of quality.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homogeneous throughout and freeof cracks, holes, foreign inclusions, or other defects. Thefittings shall be as uniform as commercially practicable incolor, opacity, density, and other physical pro

Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5 % rel

    31、ative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to test in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D 618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the Standard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73.4 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 5%relative humidity, unless otherwise specified

    32、 in the test meth-ods or in this specification.8.3 SamplingA sufficient quantity of fittings as agreedupon between the seller and the purchaser shall be selected atrandom from each lot or shipment and tested to determine thatthe basic design is in conformance with this specification.NOTE 5For indivi

    33、dual orders or specifications where supplementaltests are required, only those tests and numbers of tests specifically agreedupon between the purchaser and seller need be conducted.8.4 ThreadsAll taper pipe threads shall be gaged inaccordance with Specification F 1498.8.5 Burst PressureDetermine the

    34、 minimum burst pressurewith at least five specimens in accordance with Test MethodD 1599. Join the fittings to the pipe sufficiently strong and insuch a manner that no failures shall occur in the assembly at apressure less than the pressure requirement given in Table 3.The time of testing each assem

    35、bly shall be between 60 and 70s.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, the tests(s) shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed,

    36、 or modified, nor shall specification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) does not meet the requirements of thisspecification.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe markings shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that

    37、 they remain legible undernormal handling and installation practices.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Fittings shall be marked with the following:10.2.1.1 Manufacturers name or trademark,10.2.1.2 Material designation CPVC for CPVC 23447,10.2.1.3 The seal or mark of the laboratory making theevaluation

    47、product is marked with this designation,F 437, the manufacturer affirms that the product was manufac-tured, inspected, sampled, and tested in accordance with thisspecification and has been found to meet the requirements ofthis specification.SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTSGOVERNMENT/MILITARY PROCUREMENTTh

    48、ese requirements apply only to Federal/Military procurement, not domestic sales or transfers.S1. Responsibility for InspectionUnless otherwise speci-fied in the contract or purchase order, the producer is respon-sible for the performance of all inspection and test require-ments specified herein.
