    3、ts for multilayerpipe type 2 and compression fittings for hydronic heatingsystems, with a maximum pressure/temperature range of 1000kPa (145 psi), at 82C (180F).NOTE 1Multilayer Pipe Type 2Construction-based pressure ratedpipe comprising more than one layer in which at least 60 % of the wallthicknes

    4、s is polymeric material.1.2 Multilayer pipe type 2 is produced using a butt-weldedaluminum pipe as a core, with an extruded inside layer ofcrosslinked polyethylene (PEX). An adhesive layer is used tobond the inside layer to the wall of the aluminum pipe. Anouter layer of polyethylene (PE) and an adh

    5、esive layer areextruded to the outer wall of the aluminum pipe.1.3 Multilayer pipe type 2 is produced in Configurations 1and 2, as shown in Fig. 1.1.4 This specification includes compression fittings, whichare referenced in Fig. 2.1.5 Specifications for threaded or solder adapters for usewith pipe a

Classification4.1 Multilayer pipe and compression fittings produced un-der this specification shal

    21、l be suitable for hydronic heatingsystems at specified pressure ratings and temperatures.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 Specification for Material and Manufacture of Multi-layer Pipe Configurations 1 and 2:5.1.1 Polyethylene (PE), shall meet the requirement pro-vided in Specification D 3350 and sha

    22、ll equal or exceed aminimum cell classification of 234233 B or 345442 B. Colorand form of the material shall be in accordance with theagreement between purchaser and supplier under SpecificationD 3350.5.1.2 Crosslinked Polyethylene (PEX), shall equal or ex-ceed a minimum cell classification 344543 A

Form of thematerial shall be in accordance with the agreement betweenpurchaser and supplier under Specification D 3350.5.1.3 Adhesive Polymers, shall be modified low molecularweight PE with a minimum density of 0.915 g/cm3anddifferent levels of comonomer for adhesion to aluminum andother substrate

    24、s. The melting point shall not be less than 120C(248F). Density shall be determined in accordance with TestMethod D 1505 and melting point in accordance with TestMethod D 3418.5.1.4 Aluminum PipeMechanical PropertiesMinimumtensile strength shall be 80 MPa (11 600 psi), minimumelongation shall be 22

    30、er PipeF 1987 01 (2006)26.1.1 Outside DiameterThe outside diameter shall meetthe requirements of Table 1, when measured in accordancewith Test Method D 2122.6.1.2 Wall ThicknessThe wall thickness of composite pipeshall meet the requirements of Table 1 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D 21

The wall thickness andthe outside diameter of the aluminum pipe shall be determinedprior to the next manufacturing steps.6.1.3 Average Thickness of Inner and Outer LayersTheaverage thickness of the inner and outer layers of the multilayerpipe will be calculated as follows:6.1.3.1 Average Thickne

    32、ss of the Outer LayerThe averageoutside diameter of the multilayer pipe minus the averageoutside diameter of the aluminum pipe multiplied by 0.5.6.1.3.2 Average Thickness of the Inner LayerThe averagewall thickness of the multilayer pipe minus the average wallthickness of the aluminum pipe minus the

    33、 average wallthickness of the outer layer.6.1.4 LengthThe pipe shall be supplied in coils or instraight lengths in accordance with the agreement betweenpurchaser and seller. The tolerance shall be +100 mm for coiledlengths, and +10 mm for straight lengths.6.2 Compression Fitting/DimensionsCompressio

    34、n fittingsshall meet the requirements of Table 2 when measured inaccordance with Test Method D 2122.6.2.1 Compression ToolThe compression tool shall meetthe requirements of Table 3 when measured in accordance withTest Method D 2122.6.3 Minimum Burst PressureThe minimum burst pressurefor multilayer p

    35、ipe and compression fittings for hydronicheating systems shall be as given in Table 5.6.4 Sustained PressureThe multilayer pipe and fittingsshall not fail at the test pressure and temperature given in Table6 when tested in accordance with 8.1.6.5 Thermal Cycling TestThe multilayer pipe and fittingss

    36、hall not fail when tested in accordance with 8.2.6.6 Excessive Temperature/Pressure CapabilityIn theevent of a waterheating systems malfunction, the multilayerpipe and fittings shall have adequate strength to accommodateshort-term conditions, 30 days at 100C (212F), 1200 kPa(175 psi) until repairs c

    37、an be made. Tests will be made inaccordance with 8.6.7. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance7.1 Workmanship for Multilayer PipeMultilayer pipemust have a smooth inner and outer surface, free fromirregularities such as cracks, bubbles, pin holes or otherimperfections. There shall be no evidence of dela

    38、minationduring testing or assembling of multilayer pipe and the selectedfittings.7.2 Workmanship for Compression FittingsCompressionfittings for multilayer pipe shall be suitable for the intendedapplication and free from defects. The selected fittings shall besmooth and free of any sharp-edged groov

    39、es, which coulddamage the pipe.8. Test Methods8.1 Sustained-Hydrostatic-Pressure TestMultilayer pipeand fittings shall be tested in accordance with Test MethodD 1598. Tests shall be performed at 1 h and 1000 h inaccordance with Table 6. No failure shall occur for the durationof the tests.8.2 Thermal

    40、 Cycling TestThe multilayer pipe and fittingsshall be tested in accordance with ISO 10508, referring to Fig.4. There shall be no leakage from pipes, fittings, or joints aftercompletion of 5000 cycles, each with a duration of 30 6 2 minat a constant internal pressure of 1000 6 50 kPa (145 6 7.25psi).

    41、 Each cycle shall comprise 15 min of cold water at 20 62C (68 6 3.6F) and 15 min of hot water at 90 6 2C (1946 3.6F).8.3 Water Hammer TestMultilayer pipe and fittings shallnot fail when subjected to 10 000 cycles. Tests shall beperformed at room temperature, pressure cycles alternatingbetween 100 6

    42、50 kPa (14.51 6 7.25 psi) and 1500 6 50 kPa(220 6 7.25 psi) at a rate of 30 6 5 per min. Test in accordancewith ISO 10508, referring to Fig. 5.8.4 DelaminationMultilayer pipe shall not delaminatewhen tested with the adapter tool in Table 4, as described inFig. 6. The depth to which the adapter tool

    43、is to be insertedshall be marked. No delamination of bond shall occur.8.5 Fusion Line TestThe adapter tool has to be insertedinto the multilayer pipe to the indicated depth (see Fig. 6). Novisible damage shall occur on the fusion line or at any place ofthe aluminum section.8.6 Excessive Temperature/
