Carbonitrides can be revealed byetching electrolytically in a solution of potassium hydroxide (56 g of K(OH) in 100 mL of water for 3 s at 2 V). These small, dispersed second-phase particles exert a strengthening effect but do not significantly alter the corrosion properties of the alloy.Theymay affect the finish of electropolished surfaces.X1.5 ISO standards
