1、Designation: E 1703/E 1703M 95 (Reapproved 2005)Standard Test Method forMeasuring Rut-Depth of Pavement Surfaces Using aStraightedge1This standard is issued under the fixed designation E 1703/E 1703M; the number immediately following the designation indicates theyear of original adoption or, in the

2、case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval. A superscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This test method describes the procedure for the mea-surement of the depth of the rut a

Within the text, theinch-pound units are shown in parentheses. The values statedin each system are not exact equivalents; th

4、erefore, eachsystem must be used independently of the other. Combiningvalues from the two systems may result in nonconformancewith the specification.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. Significance and Use4.1 Rutted pavement surfaces may have an adverse influ-ence on vehicle handling characteristics and may impedesurface drainage, which may reduce friction properties andcontribute to hydroplaning.

8、 Rutting indicates deformation orwear of materials in the pavement and may be indicative ofproblems such as asphalt flow, consolidation, shear, or loss ofpavement materials.4.2 The rut-depth value obtained using this test method maynot correlate well with values obtained using other methods.5.
