Scope1.1 This specification covers performance requirements, testmethods, and marking requirements for automatic feed, pelletfuel-burni

    3、ng room heaters that are intended to burn woodpellets or other suitable solid fuel. These room heaters shall bedrafted by forced or natural means.1.2 Exhaust venting systems and associated externallymounted draft inducers are not evaluated by this specificationunless they are part of an engineered s

    4、ystem provided as partof the room heater. Parts specifically evaluated and determinedto be acceptable for use with pellet fuel-burning room heatersare required to be specified in the room heater manufacturersinstructions and are to be used in evaluating the room heater.1.3 Pellet fuel-burning room h

    5、eaters covered by this speci-fication are intended for installation in accordance with theapplicable requirements of NFPA 211 and in accordance withthe applicable building and mechanical codes.1.4 Pellet fuel-burning room heaters covered by this speci-fication are acceptable for use in manufactured

    6、homes wheninstalled in accordance with the Manufactured Home Construc-tion and Safety Standards published by the Department ofHousing and Urban Development (HUD). See 24 CFR 3280.1.5 The terms “product” or “room heater,” as used in thisspecification, refer to all pellet fuel-burning room heaters ora

    7、ny part thereof covered by the requirements of thisspecification, unless specifically noted otherwise.1.6 No information provided in this specification is intendedto prevent the use of other methods or devices, provided thatsufficient technical data are submitted to the authority havingjurisdiction

    8、to demonstrate that the proposed method or deviceis equivalent in quality, strength, fire endurance, effectiveness,durability, and safety to that prescribed in this specification.1.7 The notes incorporated into this specification are notprescriptive requirements.     29、3.2.11 noncombustible materiala material that, in theform in which it is used and under the conditions anticipated,will not ignite, burn, support combustion, or release flammablevapors when subjected to fire or heat. Materials reported aspassing the test, when tested in accordance with Test MethodE1

    30、36, shall be considered noncombustible materials.3.2.12 pellet fuela solid processed biomass fuel of speci-fied size and composition capable of being fed to the roomheater combustion system at a controlled rate.3.2.13 room heater, pellet fuel typea closed combustion,exhaust venting system connected,

    31、 pellet fuel-burning roomheater incorporating a fuel feed control mechanism.4. Materials4.1 The materials used shall be free of defects that willaffect the performance and maintainability of individual com-ponents of the overall assembly.4.2 A room heater and an exhaust venting system, ifprovided, s

    32、hall be made of noncombustible corrosion-resistantmaterials. Metals shall not be used in combinations that havethe potential to cause galvanic action at any location within theassembly.4.3 The minimum metal thickness of room heater nondeco-rative parts, including any coatings, shall comply with ther

    36、.4 Aluminum alloys containing more than 1 % magnesiumshall not be used if the reflectivity of the material is employedto reduce fire risk.4.5 The fire chamber and other parts of the room heater thatare in contact with flue gases and are visible after installationshall be of material having the durab

    37、ility and resistance to fireand heat equivalent to fireclay tile, Series 300 or 400 stainlesssteel, aluminum-coated steel, cast iron, or 0.042-in. (1.07-mm)thick unprotected or painted steel.NOTE 1Cast iron and unprotected and painted sheet steel complyingwith the requirements of Footnotes K and L o

    38、f Table 2 comply with therequirements of 4.5.4.6 If required, chimney connectors shall be of materialsand thicknesses complying with the requirements of NFPA211and applicable building and mechanical codes.4.7 Thermal insulation material shall be of metal or mineralbase. Asbestos materials shall not

    39、be used.4.8 Thermal insulation shall comply with the followingconditions when the room heater is tested in accordance withthe following requirements:4.8.1 The products resulting from the combustion or vola-tilization of any combustible binder shall be discharged to theexhaust venting system.4.8.2 In

    40、sulating material shall remain in the intended posi-tion.4.8.3 The insulation shall not show evidence of softening,melting, or deterioration in a manner that will inhibit itsfunction or create a hazard.4.9 Thermal insulation, other than firebox refractorymaterials, shall be protected from contact wi

    41、th combustionproducts.4.10 Thermal insulation that is not self-supporting shall beapplied to solid surfaces so that the insulation does not sag inany way that will interfere with the function of the insulation.An adhesive or cement used to attach such material shall retainits adhesive qualities at a

    42、ny temperature the adhesive attainswhen tested in accordance with these requirements and at 0 F(17.8 C).4.11 A water-absorbing insulating material shall be pro-tected from wetting by condensation or rain when installed asintended.4.12 Friable materials shall not be used in air handlingcompartments u

    43、nless contained suitably.5. Construction Requirements5.1 General:5.1.1 A room heater and related parts shall be constructedand assembled so as to have the strength, rigidity, anddurability to withstand damage during tests in accordance withthe following requirements and during handling and installa-

    44、tion.5.1.2 A joint in a metal surface of a fire chamber or flue gaspassageway in a room heater shall be secured mechanically bybeing welded, lock-seamed, riveted, or bolted. A joint shall befastened together securely such that it does not rely solely ona cement compound for tightness.5.1.3 Each part

    45、 or assembly shall be constructed for attach-ment of one to the other without requiring alteration, cutting,threading, drilling, welding, or similar tasks by the installer.5.1.3.1 ExceptionIf an assembly or component part isintended to be cut to length or to be fitted by the installer,means shall be

    46、 provided for joining any altered part to acompanion part or assembly.All fasteners required to completethe assembly shall be provided with the product by themanufacturer. Drilling is acceptable if the drilling operationdoes not weaken the assembly or drill into the fire chamber,and the size of the

    47、required drill bit is specified and instructionsdescribe the locations to be drilled clearly, such as by the useof templates, drawings, descriptions, or the like.5.1.4 Insulating materials shall be an integral part of theassembly if required to protect combustible parts of thebuilding when the room

    48、heater is installed in accordance withthe manufacturers instructions.5.1.4.1 ExceptionIf fire chamber materials are packagedand shipped with the heater, the installation instructions shallprovide for a description of the method of placement of thismaterial, and the heater shall be marked with an adh

    49、esive-backed warning marking indicating that the material is to beinstalled before firing.5.1.5 Two or more parts or subassemblies that are requiredor intended to bear a definite relationship to each other shall bearranged and constructed so as to permit them to be incorpo-rated into the complete assembly without need for alteration oralignment and only in the correct relationship with each other,or they shall be assembled and shipped from the factory as asingle component.5.1.6 Parts of a room heater, such as su
