ASTM D7856-2015 red 9169 Standard Specification for Color and Appearance Retention of Solid and Variegated Color Plastic Siding Products using CIELab Color Space《CIELab颜色空间使用固态杂色塑料.pdf

、Designation: D7856 14D7856 15Standard Specification forColor and Appearance Retention of Solid and VariegatedColor Plastic Siding Products using CIELab Color Space1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D7856; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforigina

、l adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope Scope*1.1 This specification establishes requirements and test method

、s for the color and appearance retention of solid and variegatedcolored plastic siding products.1.2 Color retention testing provides a method for estimating the acceptability of color change in a siding product over a periodof years of service. The exposure locations and durations specified in this

、standard have been shown to provide a good estimationof the color change in a siding product over a period of years of service (see 2.2).1.3 This specification is a successor to Specifications D6864 and D7251, which cover solid colors and variegated colors, respectively. This specification combines c

、overage for both, and has the same scope as those standards.1.4 Specifications D6864 and D7251 use Hunter Lab color space for measurement of colors and evaluation of color change. These standards require classification of colors into regions based on the L, a, and b coordinates of the color, and eval

、uation ofcolor changes is done using an ellipsoid value equation having unique coefficients for each color region. This specification usesCIE 1976 L* a* b* color space for measurement and evaluation of color change. Using this method, the need for separate colorregions and evaluation equations has b

、een eliminated.1.5 Provisions for sample selection and preparation, and weathering are the same in this specification as in Specifications D6864and D7251.1.6 Characterization of color and appearance for variegated colors is complicated by the presence of multiple colors in a randompattern. The proce

、dure for measuring variegated colors in this specification is based on using a template to reference six spots forcolor measurement.1.7 This standard specifies outdoor weathering in three specific climate zones for a single 24-month exposure, and the colorretention performance requirements under the

、se conditions are established to predict acceptable performance for the expectedservice life. However, nothing in this standard precludes the use of different or additional climate zones, or different exposuredurations, so long as those conditions are clearly specified in any reports.1.8 UnitsThe va

、lues stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses aremathematical conversions to SI units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard.1.9 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated

、with its use. It is the responsibilityof the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatorylimitations prior to use.NOTE 1There is no known ISO equivalent to this standard.2. Performance Requirements6.1 For each specimen determine the change in L*, a*, and b* between the initial color measurement and the color m

、easurementafter 24 months exposure. For solid colors the initial color reference is to the file specimen, determined in 5.3.1. For variegatedcolors the initial color reference is to the initial color of that test specimen, determined in 5.3.2.6.2 The E00 for an individual specimen is calculated usin

、g the measured color change and the “CIEDE2000 Color DifferenceEquation” in Test Method D2244. For KL, KC, KH, use a value of 1. Average the E00 for the three test specimens of each colorat each test location.6.3 Acceptable color retention is determined by the average E00 of the three test specimens at each test location being less thanor equal to 4.0. In addition, no individual specimen shall have a E00 greater than 6.0. For purposes of determining compliancewith these requirements, the calculated value of E00 shall be rounded to the nearest one deci
