    3、in the fabrication of end items or parts.1.2 This specification covers requirements and test methodsfor the material, dimensions, and workmanship, and the prop-erties of extruded- and compression-molded rod, and heavy-walled tube manufactured from granular unfilled PTFE resin inaccordance with Speci

Classification4.1 Product shape and size is defined in the applicablepurchase order.4.2 This specification covers product-extruded andcompression-molded as listed in Tables 1 and 2.4.2.1 The type of PTFE shape

    17、 product is categorized bytype, class, and grade as defined in Tables 1 and 2.4.2.2 Each type of PTFE shape is categorized into one of thefollowing grades:4.2.2.1 Grade 1Virgin-extruded or compression-moldedproduct made using only 100 % virgin PTFE resin.4.2.2.2 Grade 2Recycled-extruded or compressi

    18、on-molded product made using any amount up to 100 % recycledPTFE plastic.4.2.3 Products can be further differentiated by propertyrequirements, as defined for three classes of PTFE products inTables 1 and 2.4.2.3.1 Class 1A type of rod or heavy-walled tubinghaving maximum physical and electrical prop

    19、erties to meetrigid requirements.4.2.3.2 Class 2 (General Purpose)A type of rod orheavy-walled tubing having properties required of generalelectrical, mechanical, and chemical applications.4.2.3.3 Class 3A type of rod or heavy-walled tubing fornoncritical chemical, electrical, and mechanical applica

    20、tions.4.3 The type, class, and grade is further differentiated basedon dimensional stability (elevated temperature excursion test)and internal defect requirements.4.4 Classification D 4000 also is used to describe extrudedor compression molded products not included in Tables 1 and2 by means of a cel

    21、l callout that includes the applicable tableof suffixes using type and specific properties.4.5 To facilitate the incorporation of future or specialmaterials not covered by Tables 1 and 2, the “as specified”category (00) for type, class, and grade is shown in the tablewith the basic properties to be

    22、obtained from ClassificationD 4000 as they apply.4.6 Callout DesignationA line callout system is used tospecify materials in this specification.     32、 characteristics of extruded orcompression molded product. A space must be used as aseparator between the specification number and the typedesignation. No separators are needed between type, class, andgrade. When special notes are to be included, such informationshould be preceded by a comma. Specia

    33、l tolerances must benoted at the time of order and are inserted after the grade inparenthesis and preceded by a comma.5. Ordering Information5.1 All shapes covered by this specification shall be orderedusing the proper callout designation (see 4.6).6. Physical Property Requirements6.1 The physical p

    34、roperty values listed within this specifi-cations tables are to be considered minimum specificationvalues. Any requirement for specific test data for a givenproduction lot must be specified at the time of order. Physicalproperties for products not yet included in Table 1 are specifiedusing Classific

    35、ation D 4000 for extruded or compression-molded products.6.2 Melting PointThe melting point of all types of rod andheavy-walled tubing shall be 327 6 10C when tested inaccordance with 12.7.7. Dimensions, Mass, and Permissible Variations7.1 The dimensions and tolerances of heavy-walled tubingshall be

    36、 in accordance with Table 3. Measurements shall bemade in accordance with Method A of Test Methods D 374.7.2 For rod and heavy-walled tubing, center-less-grind theoutside diameter to meet the tolerance given in Table 3.7.2.1 EccentricityThe eccentricity of the heavy-walledtubing, when measured as on

    37、e-half of the difference betweenthe maximum and minimum wall thickness at either end of thetube, shall not exceed 10 % of the nominal wall thickness. Thenominal wall thickness is one-half the difference between thenominal outside diameter and the nominal inside diameter.7.3 As indicated in Table 1,

    38、when tested in accordance with12.5, products must have maximum change in a samplediameter of 0.5 % or a maximum change in a sample diameterof 3.0 %, or both.7.4 Products shall be produced within commercial toler-ances and with the lowest stress levels for machined parts asdelineated in Table 3.7.5 T

For Class 3, occasional small gray, brown, orblack spots shall not be considered cause for rejection.8.2 FinishThe rod or heavy-walled tubing shall be freefrom surface blist

    46、ers, cracks, wrinkles, and other surfacedefects that might impair it for general use.8.3 Internal DefectsClasses C and D either shall be freeof all macroscopic voids, cracks, and foreign inclusions, or thelocation of such defects shall be marked or identified clearly.The examination for internal def

    47、ects shall be made in accor-dance with Guide E94.9. Sampling9.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequate to satisfy therequirements of this specification.10. Number of Tests10.1 Routine lot inspection shall consist of all the criteriaspecified in the applicable product tables.10.2 The criteria liste

    48、d in these product tables and defini-tions are sufficient to establish conformity of the sheet, plate,rod, or tubular bars to this specification. When the number oftest specimens is not stated in the test method, make a singledetermination. If more than single determinations and separateportions of

    49、the same sample are made, the results shall beaveraged. The final result shall conform to the requirementsprescribed in this specification.11. Test Conditions11.1 Conditioning of SpecimensThe specification valuesand dimensions are based on conditioning techniques outlinedin Procedure A of Practice D 618.11.2 Standard TemperatureThe tests shall be conducted atthe standard laboratory temperature of 23 6 1C 73.4 61.8F.
