Scope1.1 Man-made polymers can be combined during manufac-ture, or natural polymers can be formed during growth, toproduce multicomponent f

    3、ibers having special properties suchas cross dyeability, differential shrinkage, or bulk. This stan-dard contains terms which can be used to describe the physicalarrangement of components of such fibers. The schematicdiagram in Annex A1 provides a guide for interpreting theterminology used in descri

    4、bing two- and three-componentfibers, but is not intended to be limiting. Some examples ofusage are given in Annex A2, and a bibliography of relatedliterature is given in Appendix X1.1.2 For definitions of other textile terms, refer to Terminol-ogy D123.2.     6、 and acrylic, are publishedby the Federal Trade Commission in “Rules and Regulations Under theTextile Fiber Products Identification Act.” Technically, fibers may bebigeneric, trigeneric, etc.Componentspolymer, na macromolecular material formed by the chemi-cal combination of monomers having either t

    7、he same ordifferent chemical ponent, nas used with textile fiber polymers, a polymerwith distinguishable properties.bicomponent fiber, na fiber consisting of two polymerswhich are chemically different or physically different, orboth.biconstituent fiber, ndeprecated term.     8、onent bigeneric fiber.DISCUSSIONAs used in the Federal Trade Commissions “Rules andRegulations Under the Textile Fiber Products Identification Act,”“biconstituent fiber” is “essentially a physical combination or mixtureof two or more chemically distinct constituents or components com-bined at or pri

    9、or to the time of extrusion, which if separately extruded,would fall within different .” generic classes. In the preferred ASTMterminology, a biconstituent fiber is a bicomponent bigeneric fiber. It isnot clear from the “Rules” whether a biconstituent fiber has asheath-core, bilateral, or matrix con
