Significance and Use5.1 Fabrics intended for this end-use should meet all of therequirements listed inTable 1 .5.2 It should be recognized that fabrics can be producedwith an almost infinite number of combination of constructionvariables (for example

    16、, type of fibers, percentage of fibers, yarntwist, yarn number, warp and pick count, chemical andmechanical finishes). Additionally, fashion or aesthetics dictatethat the ultimate consumer may find acceptable articles madefrom fabrics that do not conform to all of the requirements inTable 1.5.2.1 He

    17、nce, no single performance specification can possi-bly apply to all the various fabrics that could be utilized for thisend-use.5.3 The uses and significance of particular properties andtest methods are discussed in the appropriate sections of thespecified test methods.6. Test Methods (see Note 1)6.1

    18、 Breaking Force Determine the dry breaking force, inthe standard atmosphere for testing textiles, as directed in TestMethod D 5034, using a constant rate of extension (CRE)tensile-testing machine.6.2 Resistance to Yarn SlippageDetermine the resistanceto yarn slippage as directed in Test Method D 434

    19、.NOTE 2The precision of Method D 434 is being established, and itmay not be suitable for fabrics with low-yarn counts in terms of ends andpicks per inch (see 5.2).6.3 Tongue-Tear StrengthDetermine the tongue-tearstrength as directed in Test Method D 2261.6.4 Yarn Distortion Determine the yarn distor

    20、tion asdirected in Test Method D 1336.6.5 Dimensional Change:6.5.1 LaunderingDetermine the maximum dimensionalchange after five launderings as directed in the applicableprocedure in AATCC Test Method 135 or as agreed uponbetween the purchaser and the supplier (Note 3).6.5.1.1 The wash conditions and

    21、 drying procedure shall beas specified by the supplier.6.5.2 Drycleaning Determine the maximum-dimensionalchange after three dry cleanings as directed in 10.1.1 through10.1.5 of Test Methods D 2724 or as agreed upon between thepurchaser and the supplier (Note 3).NOTE 3Launderable fabrics are expecte

    22、d to be dry-cleanable exceptwhere all or part of the fabric is not dry-cleanable and is so labeled. Forexample, the fabric could contain a functional finish that is soluble in thesolvent, or the fiber could be degraded by the solvent, as would be the casewith poly(vinyl chloride) fiber. “Dry-cleanab

    23、le” goods are to be dry-cleaned only.6.6 Colorfastness:6.6.1 Burnt Gas Fumes Determine the colorfastness toburnt gas fumes on the original fabric and after one launderingor one dry cleaning as directed inAATCC Test Method 23 after1 cycle.NOTE 4Washing conditions shall be the same as those used in 6.

    24、5.1.1.Dry-cleaning conditions shall be the same as those used in 6.5.2.6.6.2 LaunderingDetermine the colorfastness to launder-ing as directed in the applicable procedure of AATCC TestMethod 61. The test conditions shall be as specified by thesupplier (Note 3).6.6.3 Dry cleaningDetermine colorfastnes

    25、s to dry clean-ing as directed in AATCC Test Method 132 (Note 3).6.6.4 CrockingDetermine colorfastness to dry and wetcrocking as directed in AATCC Test Method 8 for solid shadesand AATCC Test Method 116 for prints.6.6.5 Perspiration Determine colorfastness to perspira-tion as directed in AATCC Test

    26、Method 15.6.6.6 LightDetermine colorfastness to light as directed inAATCC Test Method 16.NOTE 5There are distinct differences in spectral distribution betweenthe various types of machines listed in AATCC Test Method 16, with nooverall correlations between them. Consequently, these machines cannotbe

In case of controversy, results obtained with theWater-Cooled Xenon-Arc machine listed in Option E shall prevail.6.6.7 OzoneDetermine the colorfastness to ozone aftertwo cycles as directed in AATCC Test Method 129.6.7 Fabric AppearanceDetermine the fabric appearanceas directed
