Scope1.1 This test method covers a standard procedure for evalu-ating the lifetime radiation tolerance of

    3、coatings to be used innuclear power plants. This test method is applicable to CoatingService Levels I, II, and III.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Terminology3.1 DefinitionsDefinitions for use with this Test Methodare shown in Terminology D4538 or other referenced stan-dards.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test method is designed to provide a uniform test toassess the suitabili

    9、ty of coatings, used in nuclear powerfacilities, under radiation exposure for the life of the facilities,including radiation during a DBA (Coating Service Level Iareas only). Specific plant radiation exposure may exceed or beless than the amount specified in 7.2 of this standard. Ifrequired by the l

    10、icensee design basis, the gamma dose usedmay exceed the actual anticipated plant gamma dose to accountfor beta dose. Coatings in Level II and III areas (outsideprimary containment) are expected to be exposed to loweraccumulated radiation doses.5. Preparation of Test Samples5.1 Steel PanelsPanels sha

    11、ll be prepared in accordancewith Specification D5139 or as approved by the licensee.5.2 Concrete BlocksBlocks shall be prepared in accor-dance with Specification D5139 or as approved by the licensee.6. Sampling6.1 Prepare and test specimens at least in duplicate, or asotherwise specified by the lice

    12、nsee.7. Procedures7.1 Irradiation Dose Rate:7.1.1 Make the gamma energy field at the position of the testspecimen 1 106rads/h, or greater, unless otherwise specifiedby the licensee. It shall be uniform to within 10 % from oneposition of the specimen to another.1This test method is under the jurisdic

    17、pecimen is irradiated by anonuniform source.7.1.3 Determine the dose rate by a procedure acceptable tothe coating manufacturer or as otherwise specified by thelicensee.7.2 Irradiation Accumulated DoseMake the total irradia-tion accumulated dose 1 109rads, unless otherwise specifiedby the licensee.7.

    18、3 Radiation SourceA gamma radiation source capableof producing the dose rate and total accumulated dose specifiedin this standard, such as cobalt-60, unless otherwise specifiedby the licensee.7.4 Test Environment:7.4.1 Specimens may be in air or in water during exposureto the gamma source, depending

    19、 on the intended service asprescribed by the licensee.7.4.2 Do not exceed a temperature of 140F (60C) for thespecimen during irradiation, or as otherwise acceptable to thecoating manufacturer or as specified by the licensee.8. Testing Laboratory Report8.1 The testing laboratory shall report the foll

    20、owing infor-mation:8.1.1 Unique test specimen identification and orientation oftest specimen in test apparatus,8.1.2 The type of radiation source and the test procedure andenvironment,8.1.3 Both the initial dose rate and the total accumulateddose, and8.1.4 Methodology for determining irradiation dos

    21、e rate,irradiation accumulated dose, and specimen temperatures dur-ing test.9. Examination9.1 Examine and evaluate specimens immediately afterirradiation for the following coating defects:9.1.1 Chalking (Method D659)Record extent.9.1.2 Checking (Test Method D660)Record extent.9.1.3 Cracking (Test Me

    22、thod D661)Record extent.9.1.4 Blistering (Test Method D714)Record number andextent.9.1.5 Flaking (Test Method D772)Record extent.9.1.6 DelaminationRecord extent.9.1.7 Record any observation of unusual appearance ordeterioration.10. Acceptance Criteria10.1 Acceptance criteria shall be defined by the

    23、licensee.10.2 Unless otherwise specified, checking, cracking,flaking, delamination, and blistering are not permitted.10.3 Any observations of unusual appearance, for example,chalking or color change, shall be reviewed against the plantdesign basis and evaluated for acceptability.11. Documentation11.

    24、1 Documentation shall include the following:11.1.1 Procedures and conditions relating to the test speci-men preparation11.1.2 Testing Laboratory report.11.1.3 Engineering assessment of the test results.11.1.4 Photo documentation, or equivalent method, of thetest panels in the before and after test c

    25、ondition.12. Precision and Bias12.1 The precision and bias of this test method is reflectedin the precision and certified bias of the test instruments used.13.
