ASTM D3917-2008 Standard Specification for Dimensional Tolerance of Thermosetting Glass-Reinforced Plastic Pultruded Shapes《热固性玻璃纤维增强塑料挤拉制型材尺寸公差的标准规范》.pdf

、Designation: D 3917 08Standard Specification forDimensional Tolerance of Thermosetting Glass-ReinforcedPlastic Pultruded Shapes1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 3917; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revis

、ion, the year of last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope*1.1 This specification defines tolerances applicable to stan-dard rods, bars, and shapes pultruded from

、 thermosettingglass-reinforced plastics.1.2 These dimensional tolerances apply to all shapes speci-fied as “standard” by the pultrusion industry.1.3 Custom shapes and products designed for special appli-cations shall carry specific tolerances that may vary from thestandard because a change in type o

、r amount of reinforcementused in a composite directly affects dimensions. The tolerancesmay be wider or tighter than associated with “standard” shapes.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest methods portion, Section 4, of this specification: Thisstandard does not purport to

、address all of the safety concerns,if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the userof this standard to establish appropriate safety and healthpractices and determine the applicability of regulatory limita-tions prior to use.NOTE 1There is no similar or equivalent ISO standard.2.

Dimensional Criteria3.1 Dimensional tolerances for cross sections shall be pre-scribed in Table 1.3.2 Width/diameter for solid rods and bars and lengthtolerances for standard rods, bars, and shapes shall be asprescribed in Table 2.3.3 S

、traightness tolerances shall be as prescribed in Table 3(also see 4.2).3.4 Twist tolerances for bars and shapes shall be as pre-scribed in Table 4 (also see 4.3).3.5 Flatness (flat surface) tolerances for bars, solid shapes, and semihollow shapes shall be as prescribed in Table 5.3.6 Flatness (flat s

、urface) tolerances of hollow shapes shallbe as prescribed in Table 6.3.7 Angularity tolerances for bars and shapes shall be asprescribed in Table 7 (also see 4.4).3.8 Camber tolerances for shapes shall be as prescribed inTable 8 (also see 4.5). Camber is not specified for standardshapes but will be

、a special customer requirement.3.9 The selection, type, and amount of reinforcements, aswell as resin system used, directly affect dimensions. Toler-ances shall be agreed upon between the supplier and the user.4. Test Methods4.1 Obtain the specified tolerances with conventional mea-suring equipment.

、 Measuring procedures, gages, and fixturesshall be agreed upon between the supplier and the user.4.2 Measure departure from straightness by placing thesection on a level table so that the arc or departure fromstraightness is horizontal. Measure the depth of the arc with afeeler gauge, a straightedge

、, or both.4.3 Measure twist by placing the pultruded section on a flatsurface and measuring the maximum distance at any pointalong its length between the bottom surface of the section andthe flat surface. From this measurement, subtract the deviationfrom true straightness of the section. The remaind

、ommittee D20 has identified the location of selected changes to this standard since the last issue(D3917 - 96(2002)e1) that may impact the use of this standard. (March 1, 2008)(1) Revised the definition of straightness in 2.1.6 for easiercustomer comprehension.(2) Added a comment in 3.8 that camber

、is not normallyspecified by the pultruders.(3) Adjusted the thickness tolerance in Item C in Table 1 toinclude only a “-” (minus) value as opposed to a plus andminus value. There are six total adjustments under Item C.(4) Revised Table 2 to change the ranges from 12 to 30 ft to 12to 24 ft. Also, cha
