Classification4.1 This specification provides for three types of FEP-fluorocarbon tubing differentiated by size schedules as follows:4.1.1 Type ITubing based upon the American Wire Gage(AWG) sizes.4.1.2 Type IITubing based upon fractional inch sizes (seeNote 2).4.1.3 Type IIITu

    10、bing of all other sizes, as agreed by buyerand seller. This type shall conform to the Dimensional Toler-ances for FEP Tubing, as listed in Table 3.4.2 The types are further differentiated in accordance withincreasing wall thicknesses as follows:4.2.1 Class ATubing having walls tabulated in Table 1li

    11、sted as light-weight wall.4.2.2 Class CTubing having walls tabulated in Table 1listed as standard wall (see Note 3).4.2.3 Class DTubing having walls tabulated in Table 2listed as chemical tubing.4.2.4 Class ETubing having walls listed as heavy orconforming to the Dimensional Tolerances for FEP Tubin

Physical Requirements5.1 The tubing shall be made of FEP-fluorocarbon meetingthe requirements of Specification D 21

    32、16.5.2 The inside diameter and wall thickness and tolerances ofthe tubing shall be as shown in Tables 1-3 when determined inaccordance with 8.1.3.1 and 8.1.3.2.5.3 The specific gravity of the tubing shall be between 2.12and 2.19 inclusive when determined in accordance with 8.1.4.5.4 The tubing shall

    33、 have a minimum tensile strength of10.0 MPa 1500 psi and a minimum elongation of 250 %when determined in accordance with 8.1.5.5.5 The tubing shall have a minimum dielectric breakdownas shown in Table 4 when determined in accordance with 8.1.6.5.6 The tubing shall remain free from cracks and exhibit

    34、 nosplitting when tested for heat resistance in accordance with8.1.8.6. Sampling6.1 Sampling shall be statistically adequate to satisfy therequirements of Section 9.7. Number of Tests and Retests7.1 One set of test specimens shall be considered sufficientfor testing each batch. The average result of

    35、 the specimenstested shall conform to the requirements of this specification.8. Test Methods8.1 The properties enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined in accordance with the following methods.8.1.1 ConditioningConditioning is not required except inreferee cases. When conditioning is requ

    36、ired, condition the testspecimens at 23C for a period of at least 4 h prior to test. If thetest material has been exposed to temperatures below 20Cwithin 24 h prior to test, the conditioning shall be for at least24 h and as outlined in Practice D 618.8.1.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests at the standar

    37、d labo-ratory temperature of 23 6 2C 73.4 6 3.6F. The mainte-nance of constant humidity is not necessary; in referee casesthe standard laboratory atmosphere including 50 6 5 % rela-tive humidity shall apply.8.1.3 Dimensions and Tolerances:8.1.3.1 Inside DiameterDetermine the inside diameter inaccord

    38、ance with Method D 1675, except that no individualmeasurements shall be allowed to exceed the tolerancesspecified in Table 1,Table 2, or Table 3.8.1.3.2 Wall ThicknessDetermine the wall thickness inaccordance with the procedures described in Method D 1675,except that no individual measurements shall

    39、 be allowed toexceed the tolerances specified in Table 1,Table 2, or Table 3.8.1.4 Specific GravityDetermine the specific gravity inaccordance with Method A of Test Methods D 792. Add 2drops of wetting agent (liquid detergent) to the water in orderto reduce the surface tension and ensure complete we

    40、tting ofthe specimen.8.1.5 Tensile Strength and ElongationDetermine the ten-sile strength and elongation as specified in 8.1.5.1 through8.1.5.3 on five transverse specimens, using a testing speed of50.8 mm 2 in./min. Average the test results for the longitu-dinal and the transverse specimens separat

Discard speci-mens that break in the jaws of the tension tester, and make newtests.8.1.5.1 Tubing Having an Inside Diameter of 15.9 mm0.625 in. and OverDetermine the tensile strength andelongation in both the longitudinal and transverse directions inaccordance with Specification D 4894.8.1.5.2

    42、Tubing Having an Inside Diameter less than 15.9mm 0.625 in. to 2.3 mm 0.090 in. InclusiveDetermine thetensile strength and elongation in the longitudinal direction inaccordance with Specification D 4894. For longitudinal speci-mens, slit the tubing parallel to the axis and flatten out, prior topunch

    43、ing out specimens.8.1.5.3 Tubing Having an Inside Diameter less than 2.3 mm0.090 in.Test specimens as filaments. Make nonsliptypeloop knots in each end of the specimen so that there are 34.9mm 138 in. between the knot of the loops (see Fig. 1). Placeloops over the drum of a standard wire specimen ho
