Scope*1.1 This specification covers

    3、poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC)threaded Schedule 80 pipe fittings. Included are requirementsfor materials, workmanship, dimensions, and burst pressure.NOTE 1Threaded CPVC plastic pipe fittings, Schedule 80, whichwere formerly included in this standard, are now covered by SpecificationF437.1.2 The product

    4、s covered by this specification are intendedfor use with the distribution of pressurized liquids only, whichare chemically compatible with the piping materials. Due toinherent hazards associated with testing components and sys-tems with compressed air or other compressed gases somemanufacturers do n

    5、ot allow pneumatic testing of their products.Consult with specific product/component manufacturers fortheir specific testing procedures prior to pneumatic testing.NOTE 2Pressurized (compressed) air or other compressed gasescontain large amounts of stored energy which present serious safetyhazards sh

    16、n4.1 GeneralThis specification covers threaded Schedule80 PVC pipe fittings, made from four PVC plastic compoundsand intended for use with threaded Iron Pipe Size (IPS)outside-diameter plastic pipe.4.1.1 Fittings covered by this specification are normallymolded. In-line fittings, such as couplings,

    17、unions, bushings,caps, nipples, etc., shall be molded or machined from extrudedstock.4.1.2 Fittings fabricated by back welding or butt fusion arenot included in this specification.5. Materials and Manufacture5.1 This specification covers PVC pipe fittings made fromtwo PVC plastics as classified in S

    18、pecification D1784. Theseare cell classifications 12454 and 14333.NOTE 3Mechanical strength, heat deflection temperature, and flam-mability requirements are covered in Specification D1784.5.2 Rework MaterialThe manufacturers shall use onlytheir own clean rework fitting material and the fittings pro-

    19、duced shall meet all the requirements of this specification.6. Requirements6.1 Dimensions and Tolerances:6.1.1 The dimensions and tolerances of the fittings shall beas shown in Table 1 and Table 2 when measured in accordancewith Test Method D2122. Minimum dimensions have zeronegative tolerances. Bus

    20、hings shall have thread lengths appli-cable to the corresponding sizes. Counterbore is optional, is notshown in Table 1, and is not included in the center-to-end orend-to-end dimensions.6.1.2 Fittings Not IllustratedAll fittings, whether illus-trated in Table 1 and Table 2 or not, shall have wall th

    21、icknessesand thread dimensions conforming to 6.1 and 6.2.6.2 ThreadsFor all fittings having taper pipe threads,threads shall conform to Specification F1498 and be gaged inaccordance with 8.4.6.3 Burst Pressure:6.3.1 The burst strength of the fittings shall be not less thanthat calculated for the siz

    22、e and wall thickness of the pipe withwhich it is to be used, when calculated from the followingequation:S 5 PDOt!/2t (1)where:S = hoop stress, psi (or MPa),P = internal pressure, psi (or MPa),DO= average outside diameter, in. (or mm), andt = minimum wall thickness, in. (or mm).Fittings tested in acc

    23、ordance with 8.4 shall withstand theminimum burst pressure shown in Table 3.6.3.2 Pressures shown are minimum burst pressures and donot imply rated working pressures. The burst pressure shall beused only as an indication of quality.7. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance7.1 The fittings shall be homo

Test Methods8.1 ConditioningCondition the test specimens at 73.4 63.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 % relative humidity for not lessthan 40 h prior to tes

    31、t in accordance with Procedure A ofPractice D618, for those tests where conditioning is required.8.2 Test ConditionsConduct tests in the Standard Labora-tory Atmosphere of 73 6 3.6F (23 6 2C) and 50 6 10 %relative humidity, unless otherwise specified in the test meth-ods or in this specification.8.3

    32、 SamplingA sufficient quantity of fittings as agreedupon between the seller and the purchaser shall be selected atrandom from each lot or shipment and tested to determine thatthe basic design is in conformance with this specification.NOTE 4For individual orders or specifications where supplementalte

    33、sts are required, only those tests and numbers of tests specifically agreedupon between purchaser and supplier need be conducted.8.4 Burst PressureDetermine the minimum burst pressurewith at least five specimens in accordance with Test MethodD1599. Join the fittings to the pipe sufficiently strong a

    34、nd insuch a manner that no failures shall occur in the assembly at apressure less than the pressure requirement given in Table 3.The time of testing each assembly shall be between 60 and 70s.9. Retest and Rejection9.1 If the results of any test(s) do not meet the requirementsof this specification, t

    35、he test(s) shall be conducted again onlyby agreement between the purchaser and seller. Under suchagreement, minimum requirements shall not be lowered,changed or modified, nor shall specification limits be changed.If upon retest, failure occurs, the quantity of product repre-sented by the test(s) doe

    36、s not meet the requirements of thisspecification.10. Product Marking10.1 Quality of MarkingThe marking shall be applied tothe fittings in such a manner that they remain legible undernormal handling and installation practices.10.2 Content of Marking:10.2.1 Fittings shall be marked with the following:

Quality Assurance11.1 When the product is marked with this designation,D2464, the manufacturer affirms that the product wasmanufactured, inspected, sampled, and tested in accordancewith this specif

    48、ication and has been found to meet therequirements of this specification.SUPPLEMENTARY REQUIREMENTSGOVERNMENT/MILITARY PROCUREMENTThe following requirements apply only to federal/military procurement, not domestic sales ortransfers.S1. Responsibility for Inspection Unless otherwise speci-fied in the

    49、 contract or purchase order, the producer is respon-sible for the performance of all inspection and test require-ments specified herein.
