1、Designation: D 2194 02 (Reapproved 2007)Standard Test Method forConcentration of Formaldehyde Solutions1This standard is issued under the fixed designation D 2194; the number immediately following the designation indicates the year oforiginal adoption or, in the case of revision, the year of last re

2、vision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of last reapproval. Asuperscript epsilon (e) indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval. This standard has been approved for use by agencies of the Department of Defense.1. Scope*1.1 This test method covers the determination

3、of the form-aldehyde content of commercially available formaldehydesolutions ranging in concentration from 36 to 55 weight %.1.2 For purposes of determining conformance of an ob-served value or a calculated value using this test method torelevant specifications, test result(s) shall be rounded off “

4、tothe nearest unit” in the last right-hand digit used in expressingthe specification limit, in accordance with the rounding-offmethod of Practice E29.1.3 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded asstandard. No other units of measurement are included in thisstandard.1.4 For hazard information

5、 and guidance, see the suppliersMaterial Safety Data Sheet.1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of thesafety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is theresponsibility of the user of this standard to establish appro-priate safety and health practices and determine the applica-bi

Summary of Test Method3.1 The specimen is reacted with an excess of sodium

7、 sulfitesolution and the resulting sodium hydroxide is titrated withsulfuric acid using thymolphthalein indicator.3.2 The sample should be essentially neutral; 0.1 % acidity(as formic acid) is equivalent to 0.065 % formaldehyde.4. Significance and Use4.1 This test method provides a measurement of fo

Reagents6.1 Purity of ReagentsReagent grade chemicals shall beused in all tests. Unless otherwise indicated, it is intended thatall reagents shall conform to the specific

11、Purity of WaterUnless otherwise indicated, referencesto water shall be understood to mean reagent water conformingto Type IV of Specification D 1193.6.3 Sodium Sulfite Solution (125 g/L)Dissolve 125 g ofanhydrous sodium sulfite (Na2SO3) in water and dilute to 1 L.NOTE 1Sodium sulfite gradually oxidi

Two such results should be consideredsuspect if they differ by more than 0.23 % absolute.NOTE 2The above precision estimates are based on two interlabora-tory studies involving five and nine laboratories, respectively, using twodifferent samples in each case with a single analyst performing dupl
