Significance and Use4.1 This practice for preparation of test panels greatlyincreases the likelihood of achieving reproducible results insubsequent testing.5. Apparatus5.1 PanelA supporting metal panel on which the

Preparation of Metal Panels6.1 HandlingHandle the panel by the edges only and donot allow fingers to contact the face to be coated. Do

29、 notunwrap the panels until the day on which they are to be coated. This is to prevent oxidation and contamination of the face. Donot reuse the test panels.6.2 Precalibration and ClassificationMeasure the thick-ness of all panels at six representative points and classify theminto groups of identical

30、thickness.6.3 MarkingMark or drill the panels before or aftercoating, preferably afterwards. If marked or drilled beforecoating, take care to see that these operations do not alter theflatness of the panel by distortion or by leaving burrs.(WarningStamping identification numbers by means ofsteel die

31、s should be done with extreme caution to avoiddistortion of the panel or shattering of the coating.) Thepreferred method of marking is by scratching the previouslycoated panel with a hardened steel stylus. It is permitted tomark either the back of the panel or on the face at one end.
