Scope1.1 This specification covers min

Terminology3.1 Definitions used in this specification shall be in

    8、accor-dance with Terminology C11.4. Physical Properties4.1 Surface Applied Bonding CompoundA freeze-thawstable composition, suitable for brush, roller, or spray applica-tion. It shall be tinted to show by visual inspection where it hasbeen applied. The tint shall not bleed through the materialbeing

    9、bonded.4.2 ConsistencyThe bonding compound shall be free offoreign matter as determined by visual inspection and shall beof such uniform consistency that when applied in accordancewith the producers directions by brush, roller, or spray toconcrete, masonry, or other structurally sound surface, thebo

    10、nding compound shall flow on evenly and dry uniformly.4.3 Film CharacteristicsThe film-forming property shallbe determined by visual inspection to determine the presenceof a continuous film not broken by fisheyes, cracking, pull-back, or any other discontinuity in the film surface. It shall notbe no

    11、ticeably affected by alkaline surfaces or weak acids.4.4 Re-EmulsificationProduct conforming with this speci-fication shall not re-emulsify.5. Performance Requirements5.1 Bonding CapabilityThe bonding compound shall becapable of bonding cementitious materials when applied inaccordance with the produ

    12、cers directions and tested as speci-fied in Section 12.5.2 DegradationBonding compound which separatesshall be able to be re-mixed to a uniform consistency whentested as specified in Section 10.5.3 High Temperature TestThe bond strength shall be notless than 150 psi (1034 kPa) when tested as specifi

United States15.4 Freeze-Thaw StabilityThe bond strength shall be notle

    16、ss than 150 psi (1034 kPa) and 100 psi (690 kPa) when testedunder the dry and wet conditions, respectively, as specified inSection 11.5.5 Tensile Bond StrengthBond strength of a fresh sampleor a 6-month-old sample of bonding compound shall have anaverage tensile strength of not less than 150 psi (10

    17、34 kPa) and100 psi (690 kPa) when tested under the dry and wetconditions, respectively, as specified in Section 12.6. Sampling6.1 Take a sample of not less than 2.2 lb (1000 g) from eachshipment or consignment for analysis and tests. Except inspecial cases, take the sample from not less than three s

    18、eparatecontainers, chosen at random. In addition, take samples fromcontainers that appear to be nonrepresentative, and test sepa-rately. Place the samples immediately in airtight glass contain-ers and transport to the testing laboratory in these containers.Take precautions to reduce evaporation or d

    19、rying to a mini-mum. Thoroughly mix the bonding compound in the containerif there is a tendency for liquid phase separation.7. Apparatus7.1 Moist CabinetSpecification C511.7.2 OvenA forced draft type oven, having a temperaturecontrolled at 140 6 5 F (60 6 3 C) for high temperaturetests.7.3 FreezerA

    20、freezer having a controlled temperature of10 6 2 F (-23 6 1 C).7.4 BalanceA balance capable of weighing not less than5.5 lb (2500 g) at a precision of 0.0002 lb (0.1 g).7.5 Timing DeviceAn instrument capable of reading to thenearest second.7.6 TamperA tamper made up of a nonabsorptive,nonabrasive, n

    21、on-brittle material and having a cross section of12 in. by 1 in. (13 25 mm) and approximately 5 to 6 in. (130to 150 mm) long. The tamping face shall be flat and at rightangles to the length of the tamper.7.7 Straight EdgeA steel straight edge not less than 4 in.(100 mm) long and not less than116 in.

    22、 (1.6 mm) nor more than18 in. (3.2 mm) in thickness.7.8 SpatulaAspatula with a metal blade 6 in. (150 mm) inlength and12 in. (13 mm) in width, with straight edges.7.9 Paint BrushAstandard 1 in. (25 mm) wide brush, withsynthetic bristles.7.10 Testing MachineAny type that is of sufficient capac-ity an

(1.27 mm) per minute, withprovision for adjustment of the rate of loading.7.11 Briquet MoldsThe molds for making test specimensshall be made of metal not attacked by the mortar and shallhave sufficient mater

    24、ial in the sides to prevent spreading duringmolding. Gang molds, when used, shall be of the type shownin Fig. 1. The dimensions of the briquet molds shall conform tothe following requirements: width of mold, between insidefaces, at waist line of the briquet, 1 in. (25.4 mm) withpermissible variation

    25、s of 60.01 in. (0.25 mm) for molds in useand 60.005 in. (0.13 mm) for new molds; thickness of moldsmeasured at the point of greatest thickness on either side of themold at the waist line, 1 in. (25.4 mm) with permissiblevariations of +0.004 in. (0.10 mm) and 0.002 in. (0.05 mm)for new molds and 0.02

    26、 in. (0.5 mm) for molds in use. Thebriquet specimens shall conform to the dimensional require-ments shown in Fig. 2.7.12 SawA table saw equipped with an abrasive cuttingblade or other blade suitable for cutting cementitious materials.7.13 Clips for Briquet Testing MachineThe clips forholding the ten

Conditioning8.1 Room Temperature and HumidityMaintain the airtemperature in the vicinity of the mixing and testing area at 706 5F(216 3 C).     28、erature Test9.1 Significance and UseThis test method provides pro-cedures for evaluating the adhesive strength of bonding com-pounds after being exposed to accelerated aging at hightemperature.9.2 Specimen PreparationFor each test specimen, transferthe bonding compound, taken from the sample obtaine

    29、d, into astandard 1 pt. (500 mL) glass container.9.3 ProcedurePlace the specimen in the oven for 30 days.Remove the container, allow the compound to cool to roomtemperature, mix the compound to a uniform consistency, andtest as specified in Section 12.FIG. 1 Briquet Gang MoldC932 06 (2013)29.4 Tests

    30、 and RetestsTest six briquets and report theaverage of the test results. If the result of any one of the sixtests varies more than 15 % from the average, reject it andreport the average of the other five tests. If the results frommore than two tests vary more than 15 % from the average,reject the se

    31、ries and retest.9.5 Precision and BiasThe precision and bias of the hightemperature test for determining bond strength after exposureto high temperature are essentially the same as specified in thetest method for bond strength, paragraph 12.7.10. Degradation Test10.1 Significance and UseThis test me

    32、thod simulates theeffects of high temperature storage on the physical propertiesof bonding compound.10.2 Specimen PreparationFor each test, transfer thebonding compound, from the sample obtained, into a standard1 pt. (500 mL) glass container.10.3 ProcedurePlace the specimen in the oven for 15days. R

    33、emove the container from the oven and examine thecontents for settling and separation. Place the container back inthe oven for an additional 15 days. Remove the container andexamine the contents again for settling and separation. Allowthe compound to come to room temperature, and mix to auniform con

    34、sistency. Mix by hand stirring with a wood, metal,or plastic paddle for not more than five minutes.10.4 Tests and RetestsBonding compound that fails to beremixed to a uniform consistency shall be considered to havefailed the test.10.5 ReportDetermine the extent of settling and separa-tion by measuri

    35、ng and report as a percentage of the height ofthe specimen in the clear glass container, represented by thelocation of the liquid/solid interface.10.6 Precision and BiasNo information is presented abouteither the precision or bias of the Degradation test for measur-ing settling, separation, or the a

    36、bility to be mixed to a uniformconsistency since the test result is non-quantitative.11. Freeze-Thaw Cycle Test11.1 Significance and UseThis test method provides pro-cedures for determining the bond strength of bonding com-pounds after being exposed to accelerated storage conditions ofalternate free

    37、zing and thawing.11.2 Specimen PreparationFor each test specimen, trans-fer the bonding compound, taken from the sample obtained,into a standard 1 pt. (500 mL) glass container having a screwon or friction fit cover.11.3 ProcedurePlace a covered specimen in the freezerfor 16 h. Remove the specimen an

    38、d allow to thaw at roomtemperature for 8 h. Repeat this procedure for 5 cycles. Afterthe fifth cycle, allow the compound to come to roomtemperature, then test as specified in Section 12.11.4 Tests and RetestsTest six briquets and report theaverage of the test results. If the result of any one of the

    39、 sixtests varies more than 15 % from the average, reject it andreport the average of the other five tests. If the results frommore than two tests vary more than 15 % from the average,reject the series and retest.11.5 Precision and BiasThe precision and bias of thefreeze-thaw cycle test for determini

    40、ng bond strength afterexposure to alternate freezing and thawing are essentially thesame as specified in the test method for bond strength,paragraph 12.7.12. Bond Strength Test12.1 Significance and UseThis test method provides amethod for determining the ability of bonding compound, afterbeing subje

    41、ct to various simulated conditions of aging andexposure to temperature extremes, to adhere cementitiousmaterials to a properly prepared substrate.12.2 Materials:12.2.1 CementSpecification C150.12.2.2 Graded Standard SandSpecification C778.12.3 Preparation of Briquets:12.3.1 Prepare not less than six

    42、 briquets for each series oftests.12.3.2 Prepare the proportions of the standard mortar inaccordance with the procedure given in Test Method C109/C109M.12.3.3 Mechanically mix the mortar in accordance with theprocedure given in Practice C305.NOTE 11 in. = 25.4 mm.FIG. 2 Briquet Specimen for Tensile

Support the molds on a lightly oiled glass ormetal plate.12.3.5 Cast the briquets immediately after completely mix-ing the mortar, half fill the molds and puddle the mortaruniformly with the tamper,

    44、 taking care not to displace thedivider. Slightly over fill the molds with additional mortar andrepeat the puddling. After the mortar has set, cut off the excessto a plane surface flush with the top of the mold, using a broadknife or similar implement.12.3.6 Immediately after molding, place the mold

    45、s, on thebase plate, into the moist cabinet for 48 h.12.3.7 Remove the briquets from the mold and store them atroom temperature and humidity for not less than 48 h.12.3.8 Examine the specimens, discard any that have airholes or excessively rough surfaces.12.3.9 Saw the specimens in half at the mid-p

    46、oint of thewaist line, aligning the saw blade so that the entire saw kerf istaken out of one side of the briquet, and the remaining sidemaintains a 1 in. cross section. Discard the smaller portion ofthe briquet.12.4 Procedure:12.4.1 Thoroughly clean dust and loose particles from theflat waist surfac

    47、e of the specimen. Apply the bondingcompound, in accordance with the producers directions, to theflat waist surface of the briquet by means of a paint brush.12.4.2 Place the half briquet, coated with bondingcompound, into the mold. Fill the remaining space in the moldwith mortar, mixed and molded as

    48、 specified in 12.3.12.4.3 The time between coating the briquet with compoundand casting the mortar against it shall be immediately after thecompound has dried, or as recommended by the manufacturer,except when otherwise specified for a ten day waiting period.12.4.4 Place the filled briquet mold in t

    49、he moist cabinet for24 h, then remove the briquets from the molds.12.5 Test Method:12.5.1 Test the briquets at the following intervals:12.5.1.1 Dry ConditionAir cure three briquets for 14 daysand test.12.5.1.2 Wet ConditionAir cure three briquets for 7 days,soak in water for 7 days, and test.12.5.2 Remove any loose particles or flash from the surfacesthat will be in contact with the clips of the testing machine.Make sure the bearing surfaces of the clips are clean and freeof sand, and the roller bearings are lubri
