Scope1.1 This specification covers reinforc

    3、ed elliptically shapedconcrete pipe to be used for the conveyance of sewage,industrial wastes, and storm water, and for the construction ofculverts.1.2 Pipe designed for placement with the major axis hori-zontal shall be designated as “Horizontal Elliptical Pipe.” Pipedesigned for placement with the

    4、 major axis vertical shall bedesignated as “Vertical Elliptical Pipe.”1.3 A complete metric companion to this specification hasbeen developedC 507M; therefore, no metric equivalents arepresented in this specification.NOTE 1This specification is a manufacturing and purchase specifica-tion only, and d

    5、oes not include requirements for bedding, backfill, or therelationship between field load condition and the strength classification ofpipe. However, experience has shown that the successful performance ofthis product depends upon the proper selection of the class of pipe, typeof bedding and backfill

The owner of the reinforced concrete pipespecified herein is cautioned that he must correlate the field requirementswith the class of pipe specified and provide inspection at the constructionsite.2. Basis of Acceptance5.1 Unless otherwise d

    16、esignated by the owner at the time of,or before, placing an order, there are two separate andalternative bases of acceptance. Independent of the method ofacceptance, the pipe shall be designed to meet both the 0.01-in.crack and ultimate strength requirements.5.1.1 Acceptance on Basis of Plant Load-B

    17、earing Tests,Material Tests, and Inspection of Manufactured Pipe for VisualDefects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in alldiameters and classes produced in accordance with 7.1 or 7.2shall be determined by the results of the three-edge-bearingtests as defined in 11.3.1; by such material tes

    18、ts as are requiredin 6.1, 6.2, and 6.4; by an absorption test of the concrete fromthe wall of the pipe for each mix design that is used on anorder; and by visual inspection of the finished pipe to deter-mine its conformance with the accepted design and its freedomfrom defects.5.1.2 Acceptance on the

    19、 Basis of Material Tests and Inspec-tion of Manufactured Pipe for Defects and ImperfectionsAcceptability of the pipe in all diameters and classes producedin accordance with 7.1 or 7.2 shall be determined by the resultsof such material tests as are required in 6.1, 6.2, and 6.4;bycrushing tests on co

    20、ncrete cores or cured concrete cylinders; byan absorption test of the concrete from the wall of the pipe foreach mix design that is used on an order; and by inspection ofthe finished pipe, including amount and placement of rein-forcement, to determine its conformance with the accepteddesign and its

    30、sis of acceptance.5.2 Age for AcceptancePipe shall be considered ready foracceptance when they conform to the requirements as indicatedby the specified tests.6. Materials6.1 The aggregate shall be so sized, graded, proportioned,and mixed with such proportions of portland cement, blendedhydraulic cem

    31、ent, or portland cement and supplementarycementing materials, or admixtures, if used, or a combinationthereof, and water to produce a homogeneous concrete mixtureof such quality that the pipe will conform to the test and designrequirements of this specification. In no case, however, shallthe proport

    32、ion of portland cement, blended hydraulic cement,or a combination of portland cement and supplementarycementing materials be less than 470 lb/yd3.6.2 Cementitious Materials:6.2.1 CementCement shall conform to the requirementsof Specification C 150, or shall be portland blast-furnace slagcement, or s

    33、lag modified portland cement, or portland-pozzolan cement conforming to the requirements of Specifica-tion C 595, except that the pozzolan constituent in the Type IPportland pozzolan cement shall be fly ash.6.2.2 Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GGBFS)GGBFS shall conform to the requirements of

    34、Grade 100 or 120of Specification C 989.6.2.3 Fly AshFly ash shall conform to the requirements ofClass F or Class C of Specification C 618.6.2.4 Allowable Combinations of Cementitious MaterialsThe combination of cementitious materials used in the concreteshall be one of the following:6.2.4.1 Portland

    35、 cement only,6.2.4.2 Portland blast furnace slag cement only,6.2.4.3 Slag modified portland cement only,6.2.4.4 Portland pozzolan cement only,6.2.4.5 A combination of portland cement and groundgranulated blast-furnace slag,6.2.4.6 A combination of portland cement and fly ash, or6.2.4.7 A combination

OnlyType III synthetic fibers designed and manufactured specifi-cally for use in concrete and conforming to the requirements ofSpecification C 1116 shall be accepted.7. Design7.1 Size and ShapeThe standard sizes of elliptical pipe

    48、shall be as listed in Table 1 and Table 2. The internal shape foreach size pipe shall be defined by the internal dimensionsshown in Fig. 5, subject to the permissible variations of 12.1.7.2 Design TablesThe wall thickness, compressivestrength of concrete, and the area of circumferential reinforce-me

    49、nt shall be as prescribed in Table 1 and Table 2, subject tothe provisions of 7.3 and Sections 11 and 12.7.2.1 Footnotes to the tables herein are intended to beamplifications of the tabulated requirements and are to beconsidered applicable and binding as if they were contained inthe body of the specification.7.3 Modified and Special Designs:7.3.1 If permitted by the owner, the manufacturer mayrequest approval by the owner of modified designs which differfrom the designs in this Section 7; or special designs for
