This practice covers the installation ofadhered manufactured stone masonry veneer (AMSMV) unitsfor application as adhered veneer to exterior and interior walls,columns, landscape structures and other structures suitable torece

The units included in this practice aremanufactured to meet the requirements of Specification C1670.This practice is limited to the installation of AMSMV units.This practice does not cover all flashing or moisture manage-ment requirements. Ambient Conditions5.1 Hot and Dry ConditionsIf the ambient conditionsexceed 100F (37C) or 90F (32C) with a wind velocitygreater than 8 mph (12.9 km/h) comply with the hot weatherconstruction requireme
36、nts of local building code, the recom-mendations of AMSMV unit manufacturer and hot weatherconstruction provisions of TMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6. Ifthere is a contradiction among documents, local building codeshall prevail.5.1.1 When AMSMV is applied in hot or dry weather,before applying mortar, moist
37、en the scratch coat with a finespray of water or a wet brush to prevent excessive absorptionof water from the mortar. The scratch coat shall appear wet butwithout free water on the surface. Units shall also be moistenedfollowing the requirements of 7.2.15.2 Freezing or Low TemperaturesAccelerating a
38、dmix-tures shall comply with Specification C1384. Anti-freezeadmixtures to lower freezing point of mortar shall not be used.Accelerating admixtures containing calcium chloride shall notbe used. If the ambient conditions are below 40F (4C), theinstallation shall comply with the cold weather construct
39、ionprovisions of TMS 602/ACI 530.1/ASCE 6.6. Substrate/Surface Preparation6.1 The substrates and preparation that follow are typicaland field proven applications. Installation over any othersubstrate requires the approval of the AMSMV unit manufac-turer.6.2 Masonry:6.2.1 Install units directly on ma
40、sonry that is clean and freeof paint, dirt, sealers, loose or spalling material.6.2.2 All masonry surfaces that are dirty, painted, coatedwith curing compounds or surface sealed, shall be cleaned bypower washing, sandblasting, beadblasting or appropriate sol-vent to form a substrate suitable for bon
41、ding. If the surfacecondition cannot support direct application, install lath. Ifmasonry wall exhibits spalling, cracking or generaldeterioration, the wall shall be evaluated by the designer ofrecord for integrity before proceeding.6.3 Wood/Metal Framing:6.3.1 Water Resistive Barrier (WRB) Installat
42、ionInstalltwo separate layers of WRB outboard of the sheathingmaterial, in accordance with the WRB manufacturers instal-lation instructions. Each layer is not required to be the samematerial. The WRB shall be integrated with all flashingmaterials in such a manner that prevents penetration of waterbe
43、yond the WRB. WRB shall overlap a minimum 6 in. (152mm) at vertical joints and a minimum 2 in. (50 mm) athorizontal joints and shall be applied in shingle fashion. WRBfasteners shall be spaced in accordance with the water resistivebarrier manufacturers installation instructions.NOTE 4Some building c
44、ode jurisdictions allow a single layer WRBwhen a drainage wall system is used. This is an acceptable installationwhen the drainage wall system meets the requirements of Section 10 ofthis practice.6.3.2 Sheathed Frame Substrate:6.3.2.1 Foundation Weep ScreedInstall foundation weepscreed in accordance
45、 with Specification C1063.6.3.2.2 LathInstall lath which meets the requirements of4.3 in accordance with Specification C1063, or the alternatelath manufacturers installation instructions, or the projectdesign documents.NOTE 5In order to facilitate embedment of lath in mortar, some lathproducts will
46、require furring. Furring and self-furring lath are addressed inSpecification C1063, Table 3.6.3.2.3 Scratch CoatInstall a scratch coat with a minimumthickness of12 in. (13 mm) and maximum thickness of34 in.(19 mm) of mortar. The scratch coat shall be applied withsufficient material and pressure to f
47、ully engage and encapsulatethe lath and with sufficient thickness of material to allow forscoring the surface. As soon as the scratch coat becomessomewhat firm the entire surface shall be scored in thehorizontal direction only.6.3.3 Open Studs, Non-Solid Sheathing and Metal BuildingPanels:NOTE 6Non-
48、solid sheathing description is intended to address prod-ucts such as foam sheathing, fiberboard sheathing, and other sheathingproducts that would not resist the force used to press units onto scratchcoat, resulting in detrimental lath movement.6.3.3.1 Foundation Weep ScreedInstall foundation weepscr

(10mm) rib lath in accordance with Specification C1063 unless thedesign documents provide other criteria.
