Summary of Test Method4.1 This test method consists of casting five specimens ofmembrane on mortar substrates containing a preexisting crackand allowing them to age 14 days at standard conditionsfollowed by seven days in an air-circulating oven at 7

    7、0C(158F), placing them in a test machine, and subjecting theassembly to ten cycles of movement.5. Significance and Use5.1 This test method is used to indicate a waterproofingmembranes ability to maintain its integrity while bridging apreexisting crack in the substrate at low ambient temperatures,whe

    8、n the membrane is least likely to be flexible.6. Comparison to Other Standards6.1 The committee with jurisdiction over this standard is notaware of any comparable standards published by other orga-nizations.7. Apparatus and Materials7.1 Automatic Extension and Compression Machine, withcold box capab

    9、le of maintaining 26 6 1C (15 6 2F).7.2 Circulating Hot-Air Oven.7.3 Portland Cement, high early strength conforming toSpecification C 150, Type III.7.4 Fine Aggregate, conforming to Specification C33.7.5 Aluminum Angles, 75 by 50 by 25 mm (3 by 2 by 1 in.),if needed.7.6 Epoxy Cement, or gun-grade c

Preparation of Substrates8.1 Prepare mortar blocks in sizes required

    11、for testing inaccordance with the requirements in Guide C 1375.8.2 If required to fit the test assembly into the jaws of thetesting machine, aluminum angles may be adhered to the sidesof the substrates after the membrane has been applied.38.3 Other substrates may be used and shall be prepared toprov

    12、ide a clean, level test surface. Conditioning/Mixing9.1 Store all materials to be tested at standard conditions of23 6 2C (73.4 6 3.6F) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity forat least 24 h before any test specimen

    16、s are prepared.9.2 Follow the manufacturers instructions for mixing andpreparing membrane materials for testing. Thoroughly stir onecomponent samples before using. Mix two component com-pounds in the ratio, and as recommended by the manufacturer.10. Procedure10.1 Five assemblies shall be tested.10.2

    17、 To prepare the test assembly, set two blocks as indi-cated in Fig. 1, with sides touching, in a sand bed. Level thetest surface (top) and bind the blocks together using maskingtape. Spread the test compound to a uniform thickness of 1.506 0.10 mm (0.060 6 0.005 in.) over the top area bisected bythe

    18、 joint between the blocks. The membrane may be applied inmultiple coats, if recommended by the manufacturer.10.3 Cure the test assembly 14 days at room temperaturefollowed by seven days in a circulating hot-air oven at 70 62C (158 6 3.6F). Allow the test specimen to cool to roomtemperature for at le

    19、ast 1 h. Cut a strip of membrane 6 mm (14in.) away from the edge, across the joint on both sides. Thiswill eliminate edge effects (see Fig. 1). If needed, aluminumangles may be adhered to the sides of the assembly after theroom temperature curing period (see Fig. 1, Option A).10.4 Remove the tape fr

    20、om the blocks and place them in thetesting machine, preconditioned to 26C (15F) for at least24 h. Maintaining this temperature, subject the assembly to tencycles of movement, each cycle consisting of pulling theC1305082blocks apart at the rate of 3.2 mm (18 in.)/h until the spacebetween them is 3.2

    21、mm and then closing the space at the samerate.10.5 Upon completion of the ten cycles, extend the mem-brane to 3.2 mm while still in the machine and examine themembrane for cracking, splitting, pinholes, or any othercondition in the area of the joint in the substrates.11. Report11.1 Report the follow

    22、ing information:11.1.1 The number of specimens which show no failure, asdescribed in 10.5, in ten cycles, and11.1.2 All observable physical changes in the membrane.12. Precision and Bias12.1 The precision and bias calculations for this test methodare based on the results of three laboratories testin

    23、g threematerials.12.2 Since this is a pass-fail test, the interlaboratory testingwas conducted only to ascertain agreement between laborato-ries. The test results showed 100 % agreement between thethree laboratories, indicating that this test method is valid.13. Keywords13.1 crack bridging; membrane
