Scope1.1 This specification covers the composition, size, dimen-sions, and physical properties of flexible fi

    3、ber glass blanket,ductwrap, used to externally insulate HVAC ducts used for thedistribution of condition air with a temperature up to 250F(121C).1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas the standard. The values given in parentheses are forinformation only and may be approximate

    4、.1.3 When the installation and use of thermal insulationmaterials, accessories, and systems may pose safety and healthproblems, the manufacturer shall provide the user appropriatecurrent information regarding any known problems associatedwith the recommended use of the companys products, andshall al

    5、so recommend protective measures to be employed intheir safe utilization. The user shall establish appropriate safetyand health practices and determine the applicability of regula-tory requirements prior to use.1.4 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to thetest methods, Section 13, in

Ordering Information5.1 Specific installation, insulation type, thermal resistance,thickness, length, and width suited for the intended use shall bespecified by the purchaser.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 Basic Material The basic material shall be fibersmade from glass

    17、processed from the molten state into fibrousform.6.2 Manufacture Insulation shall consist of bonded fibersformed into flexible blanket rolls with or without variousadhered facings.7. Physical Properties7.1 Thermal ResistanceThe material shall be tested at theout of package thickness and at the insta

    18、lled thickness for thethermal resistance at 75F (24C) mean temperature in accor-dance with 13.2. The installed thermal resistance shall be testedwith the material compressed to 75 % of the labeled out ofpackage thickness. For each case the tested thermal resistance,R, for the average of any four ran

    19、domly selected samples, shallnot be more than 5% below the label R-Values, when tested inaccordance with 13.2 nor shall any single specimen be morethan 10 % below the label R-Values4.NOTE 1Consult the local or state building codes for the minimuminstalled thermal resistance, R-value, required to be

    20、installed.NOTE 2To obtain the measured installed R-value during installation,the duct wrap insulation shall be cut to a stretch-out as indicated in TableX1.1 in Appendix X1.7.2 Surface Burning CharacteristicsTypes I, II, and III,when tested in accordance with 13.3, shall have a flame spreadindex not

    21、 greater than 25, and smoke developed index notgreater than 50.7.3 Hot Surface PerformanceInsulation shall not flame,glow, or smolder when tested in accordance with 13.4 at 250F(121C).7.4 Water Vapor PermeanceWhen tested in accordancewith 13.5, the vapor-resistant membrane of a Type III productshall

    22、 have a vapor permeance of no more than 0.02 Permbefore laminating to fiber glass. A Type II product shall have avapor permeance of no more than 1.30 Perm before laminatingto fiber glass.7.5 Water Vapor SorptionThe water vapor sorption of theinsulation blanket shall be not more than 5 % by weight, w

    23、hentested in accordance with 13.6.7.6 Odor Emission A detectable odor of objectionablenature recorded by more than two of the five panel membersshall constitute rejection of the product when tested in accor-dance with 13.7.7.7 Corrosiveness When tested in accordance with 13.8,the steel plates in con

    24、tact with the insulation shall show nocorrosion greater than that observed for comparative plates incontact with sterile cotton.7.8 Fungi Resistance When tested in accordance with13.9, the test specimens that have growth greater than that onthe comparative items shall be considered to have failed. T

    25、estspecimens on which the growth is not greater than that on thecomparative items shall be considered to have passed.8. Dimensional Tolerances8.1 After conditioning for a minimum of 24 h at 70 6 3F(21 6 1.6C) and 50 6 5 % relative humidity, the insulationshall conform to the dimensional tolerances l

    26、isted in Table 1.All measurements shall be made in accordance with 12.1.9. Sampling9.1 Sampling of the insulation shall be in accordance withCriteria C 390. Specific provisions for sampling shall be agreedupon between the purchaser and the supplier.10. Inspection10.1 Inspection of the insulation sha

    27、ll be as agreed upon bythe purchaser and the manufacturer as part of the purchaseagreement.11. Qualification and Inspection Requirements11.1 Qualification RequirementsThe following require-ments are generally used for purposes of initial material orproduct qualification:11.1.1 Thermal resistance,11.

    28、1.2 Surface burning characteristics,11.1.3 Water vapor permeance, except for Type I material,11.1.4 Water vapor sorption,11.1.5 Odor emission,11.1.6 Corrosiveness, and11.1.7 Fungi resistance.11.2 InspectionThe following requirements are generallyused for purposes of acceptance sampling of lots or sh

    29、ipmentsof qualified thermal insulation:11.2.1 Dimensional tolerances, and11.2.2 Workmanship.12.     32、ee of excessive tears, rips, holes, and otherdefects that will adversely affect performance.13. Test Methods13.1 DimensionsTest in accordance with Test MethodC 167.13.2 Thermal Resistance:13.2.1 Test in accordance with Test Method C 177 or TestMethod C 518 at 75F (24C) mean temperature (see alsoPrac

    33、tice C 1045). If the test is conducted using Test MethodC 518, the manufacturer shall certify that recent calibrationshave been made.13.2.2 If the blanket is furnished with an adhered mem-brane, carefully remove the membrane to provide a surfaceequivalent to the original surface that the blanket had

    34、 beforethe application of the membrane.13.3 Surface Burning CharacteristicsDetermine the sur-face burning characteristic for the composite material inaccordance with Test Method E 84, and Practice E 2231 or forCanada, the surface burning characteristics shall be determinedin accordance with Test Met

    35、hod CAN/ULC-S102M88.13.4 Hot Surface PerformanceThe hot surface perfor-mance of the material shall be tested in accordance with TestMethod C411. Type II and III materials should be tested withthe insulation blanket in contact with the hot plate.13.5 Water Vapor PermeanceTest the permeance of thefaci

    36、ng material in accordance with the Desiccant Method ofTest Method E 96.13.6 Water Vapor SorptionDetermine the amount of watervapor sorption of the blanket test specimen in accordance withTest Method C 1104/C 1104M.13.7 Odor Emission Determine the odor emission inaccordance with the Odor Emission tes

    37、t method in Specifica-tion C 665.13.8 Corrosiveness The corrosiveness of the materialshall be determined in accordance with the steel portion of theCorrosiveness test method in Specification C 665.13.9 Fungi Resistance The fungi resistance of the mate-rial shall be determined in accordance with the

    38、Fungi Resis-tance test method in Specification C 665.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Materials that fail to conform to the requirementsagreed upon in the purchasing agreement may be rejected.Rejection should be reported to the producer or supplierpromptly and in writing. In case of dissatisfaction w

    39、ith theresults of the inspection, the producer or supplier may makeclaim for a rehearing.15. Certification15.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, aproducers, suppliers, or independent third partys certificationshall be furnished to the purchaser indicating that the materialwas manufac

    40、tured, sampled, tested, and inspected in accor-dance with this specification and has been found to meet therequirements. When specified in the purchase order or contract,a report of test results shall be furnished.16. Product Marking16.1 Type II and III material shall be marked continuously,at inter

    41、vals not greater than 36 in. (914 mm) apart, with thefollowing information: manufacturer, product name, surfaceburning characteristics, nominal thickness, nominal R-value,and installed R-value.17. Packaging and Package Marking17.1 PackagingUnless otherwise specified, the insulationshall be packaged

    42、in the manufacturers standard containers.17.2 Package Marking The markings shall be clear andlegible. Unless otherwise specified, each container shall bemarked with the manufacturers name, address, and telephonenumber; product name; material width; length; thickness;nominal R-value; installed R-valu

INSULATION INSTALLATION STRETCH-OUT SCHEDULEX1.1 This appendix has been included to show the insula-tion stretch-out schedule to be fo
