Mass and Resistance10.1 The mass and electrical resistance of a unit length ofstranded conductor is a function of the length of lay. Theapproximate weight and ele

29、ctrical resistance may be deter-mined using an increment of 2 %. When greater accuracy isdesired, the increment based on the specific lay of the conduc-tor may be calculated (Explanatory Note 4).10.2 The maximum electrical resistance of a unit length ofstranded conductor shall not exceed the nominal

30、 dc resistance(Table 1), plus 2 %.10.2.1 When the dc resistance is measured at other than20C, it is to be corrected by using the multiplying factor givenin Table 3.10.3 For conductors to be used in covered or insulated wiresor cables, dc resistance measurement may be used instead ofthe method outlin

Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance11.1 The conductor shall be clean and free of imperfectionsnot consistent with good commercial practice.12. Requirements of Wires12

32、.1 Before stranding and compacting, the round input wireused shall meet the requirements of Specifications B230/B230M, B609/B609M,orB800, whichever is applicable.12.2 Wire shaped before stranding shall meet the require-ments of the appropriate specification listed in 12.1 except fortensile and elong

33、ation requirements and diameter tolerance. For the 1350-H19 temper, the minimum tensile and elongationrequirements shall be 96 % of those for round wire of the samenominal area, provided the completed conductor is capable ofmeeting the requirements of Sections 8 and 16.12.3 For conductors made from a

The area tolerances forshaped wire of all alloys and tempers shall be such that thefinished conductor conforms to S

Variation in Area13.1 The cross-sectional area of the conductor shall not beless than 98 % of the cross-sectional area as specified inColumn 1 of Table 1.13.2 The manufacturer shall determine the cross-sectionalarea by Test Method B263. In applying this test method, theincrement in wei

36、ght resulting from stranding may be theapplicable value specified in 10.1, or it may be calculated fromthe measured dimensions of the sample under test. In case of aquestion regarding area compliance, the actual weight incre-ment due to stranding shall be calculated.NOTE 2The term “weight” is used i

37、n this specification because ofestablished trade usage in place of the technically correct term “mass.”14. Variation in Diameter14.1 The average diameter of the conductor shall vary bynot more than plus 1 % and minus 2 % from the diameterspecified in Table 1.15. Sampling15.1 The aluminum cross-secti

At least one sample shall be tested oneach size of conductor on each order of quantities from 5000 to100 000 ft (1500 to 30 000 m), and one additional sample shallbe tested from each 100 000 ft (30 0

39、00 m) thereafter.15.2 In addition or instead of the acceptance testing outlinedin 15.1, the sampling may be in accordance with SpecificationB830 (see Explanatory Note 5).16. Mechanical and Electrical Tests of SIW Conductors16.1 Tests for the mechanical and electrical properties ofwire composing the

40、conductor shall be made before, but notafter, stranding unless otherwise agreed upon by the manufac-turer and the purchaser as provided in 16.2 (Explanatory Note6).16.2 At the option of the purchaser, at the time of placingthe order, tensile and elongation tests of wire before strandingmay be waived
