(7.94 to 19.05 mm) excl in diameter,hot or cold finished, solution annealed and pickled or mechani-cally descaled.1.2.2 Rods34 to 312 in. Terminology3.1 Definition

    8、s of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 rod, na product of round solid section furnished instraight lengths.4. Ordering Information4.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for material ordered under thisspecification. Examples of such requirement

    9、s include but arenot limited to the following:4.1.1 DimensionsNominal diameter and length. Theshortest useable multiple length shall be specified (Table 1).4.1.2 CertificationState if certification or a report of testresults is required (Section 15).4.1.3 Purchaser InspectionState which tests or ins

    10、pec-tions are to be witnessed (Section 13).4.1.4 Samples for Product (Check) AnalysisState whethersamples shall be furnished (9.2.2).5. Chemical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the composition limitsspecified in Table 2.5.2 If a product (check) analysis is made by the purchaser,the mate

    11、rial shall conform to the requirements specified inTable 2 subject to the permissible tolerances in SpecificationB880.6. Mechanical Properties and Other Requirements6.1 The mechanical properties of the material at roomtemperature shall conform to those shown in Table 3.7. Dimensions, Mass and Permis

United States17.2 Out of RoundnessThe permissible variation in round-ness shall be as prescribed in Table 4.7.3 Matching Allow

    16、ancesWhen the surfaces of finishedmaterial are to be machined, the following allowances aresuggested for normal machining operations:7.3.1 As-finished (Annealed and Descaled)For diametersof516 to1116 in. (7.94 to 17.46 mm) incl, an allowance of116in. (1.59 mm) on the diameter should be made for fini

    17、shmachining.7.4 Length:7.4.1 Unless multiple, nominal, or cut lengths are specified,random mill lengths shall be furnished.7.4.2 The permissible variations in length of multiple,nominal, or cut length rod shall be as prescribed in Table 1.Where rods are ordered in multiple lengths, an additional14 i

    18、n.(6.35 mm) in length shall be allowed for each uncut multiplelength.7.5 Ends:7.5.1 Rods ordered to random or nominal lengths shall befurnished with either cropped or sawed ends.7.5.2 Rods ordered to cut lengths shall be furnished withsquare saw cut or machined ends.7.6 WeightThe material covered by

    19、 this specification shallbe assumed to weigh 0.291 lb/in.3(8.05 g/cm3).7.7 StraightnessThe maximum curvature (depth of cord)shall not exceed 0.050 in. multiplied by the length of the cordin feet (0.04 mm multiplied by the length in centimetres).8. Workmanship, Finish, and Appearance8.1 The material

    20、shall be uniform in quality and condition,smooth, and free of injurious imperfections.9. Sampling9.1 Lots for Chemical Analysis and Mechanical Testing:9.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.9.1.2 A lot of bar for mechanical testing shall be defined asthe material from one heat i

    21、n the same condition and specifieddiameter.9.2 Sampling for Chemical Analysis:9.2.1 A representative sample shall be obtained from eachheat during pouring or subsequent processing.9.2.2 Product (check) analysis shall be wholly the respon-sibility of the purchaser.9.3 Sampling for Mechanical Testing:

    22、9.3.1 Arepresentative sample shall be taken from each lot offinished material.10. Number of Tests and Retests10.1 Chemical AnalysisOne test per heat.10.2 Tension TestsOne test per lot.10.3 RetestsIf the specimen used in the mechanical test ofany lot fails to meet the specified requirements, two addi

    23、tionalspecimens shall be taken from different sample pieces andtested. The results of the tests on both of these specimens shallmeet the specified requirements.11. Specimen Preparation11.1 Tension test specimens shall be taken from materialafter final heat-treatment and tested in the direction of fa

    24、bri-cation.11.2 Tension test specimens shall be any of the standard orsubsized specimens shown in Test Methods E8.11.3 In the event of a disagreement, the referee specimenshall be the largest possible round specimen shown in TestMethods E8.12. Test Methods12.1 The chemical composition and mechanical

    25、 propertiesof the material as enumerated in this specification shall bedetermined, in case of disagreement, in accordance with thefollowing ASTM methods:12.1.1 Chemical AnalysisTest Methods E1473.12.1.2 Tension TestTest Methods E8.12.1.3 Determining Significant PlacesPractice E29.12.2 For purposes o

Inspection13.1 Inspection of the material shall be made as agreed uponby the manufacturer and the purchaser as part of the purchasecontract.14. Rejection and Rehearing14.1 Material tested by the purchaser that fails to co

    32、nform tothe requirements of this specification may be rejected. Rejec-tion should be reported to the producer or supplier promptlyand in writing. In case of dissatisfaction with the results of thetest, the producer or supplier may make claim for a rehearing.15. Certification15.1 When specified in th

    33、e purchase order or contract, amanufacturers certification shall be furnished to the purchaserstating that material has been manufactured, tested, and in-spected in accordance with this specification, and that the testresults on representative samples meet specification require-ments. When specified

    34、 in the purchase order or contract, areport of the test results shall be made.16. Product Marking16.1 Each piece of material12 in. (12.7 mm) or over indiameter shall be marked with the specification number, alloy,heat number, manufacturers identification, and size. Themarkings shall have no deleteri

    35、ous effect on the material or itsperformance and shall be sufficiently stable to withstandnormal handling.16.2 Each bundle or shipping container shall be markedwith the name of the material; this specification number; alloy;the size; gross, tare, and net weight; consignor and consigneeaddress; contr
