Scope*1.1 This specification establishes t

Ordering Information4.1 Include the following information when placing ordersfor product under this specification, as applicable.4.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue

Materials and Manufacture5.1 MaterialThe material of manufacture shall b

    11、e of aform of sheet or strip of such purity and soundness as to besuitable for processing into the products prescribed herein.1This specification is under the jurisdiction ofASTM Committee B05 on Copperand CopperAlloys and is the direct responsibility of Subcommittee B05.01 on Plate,Sheet, and Strip

    14、n, PA 19428-2959, United States.5.2 ManufactureCladding metals as appropriate shall bebonded to the specified base metal by any method that willproduce a clad material that will conform to this specification.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The cladding shall be, unless otherwise specified, acopper confor

    15、ming in chemical composition to any of thoseestablished in Specification B 152/B 152M.6.2 The core shall be a stainless steel conforming inchemical composition to any of those established by Specifi-cation A 240/A 240M. Unless otherwise specified, stainlesssteel UNS Alloy No. S43000 shall be supplie

    16、d.6.3 The cladding ratio shall be 10/80/10, copper/stainlesssteel/copper, unless otherwise specified.7. Temper7.1 The standard temper for the product described in thisspecification is given in Table 1, unless otherwise specified.7.1.1 Annealed temper O61.8. Grain Size8.1 Although no minimum grain si

    17、ze is prescribed forannealed material, it shall be fully recrystallized in bothcladding and core.9. Mechanical Property Requirements9.1 Tensile Strength Requirements:9.1.1 Product furnished under this specification shall con-form to the tensile requirements prescribed in Table 1. Tensiontest specime

    18、ns shall be taken so that the longitudinal axis ofsuch specimens is parallel to the direction of rolling and testedin accordance with Test Method E 8/E 8M.9.1.2 Acceptance or rejection based upon mechanical prop-erties shall depend only on tensile strength.9.1.3 The mechanical properties of material

    19、 in tempersother than annealed and with cladding ratios other than10/80/10 shall be as agreed upon between purchaser andsupplier.9.2 Rockwell Hardness Requirement:9.2.1 The approximate Rockwell hardness values given inTable 1 are for general information and assistance in testing,and shall not be use

    20、d as a basis for product rejection.9.2.2 Copper should be etched off with a suitable reagentprior to test.NOTE 1The Rockwell Hardness test offers a quick and convenientmethod of checking for general conformity to the specification require-ments for temper and tensile strength.10. Dimensions and Perm

    21、issible Variations10.1 Unless closer tolerances are specified in the contract orpurchase order, the product furnished shall conform to thefollowing appropriate tables:10.2 Thickness TolerancesTable 2.10.3 Width TolerancesTable 3 for slit metal and Table 4for square-sheared metal.10.4 Length Toleranc

    22、esTable 5 for stock lengths of flatsheet and strip. Table 6 for square-sheared metal.10.5 Straightness TolerancesTable 7 for slit metal. Table8 for square-sheared metal.10.6 Cladding RatioCladding ratios shall be within 610% of nominal; method of test shall be metallurgical microsec-tion of at least

    23、 three samples per lot.11. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance11.1 The material shall be free of defects, but blemishes ofa nature that do not interfere with the intended application areacceptable.12. Sampling12.1 SamplingThe lot size, portion size, and selection ofsample pieces shall be as follows:1

    24、2.1.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall be 10 000 lb (4550kg), or less material of the same mill form, alloy, temper, andthickness, subject to inspection at one time.12.1.2 Portion SizeA portion shall be four or more piecesselected as to be representative of each lot. If the lot consists ofless than f

    25、our pieces, a sample shall be taken from each piece.12.1.2.1 Chemical AnalysisA sample for chemical analy-sis shall not be taken. The copper sheet or strip that is used asthe cladding for this product was sampled and tested asprescribed in Specification B 152/B 152M. The stainless steelstrip that is

    26、 used as the core in this product was sampled andtested as prescribed in Specification A 240/A 240M.12.1.2.2 Samples for All Other TestsSamples for all othertests shall be taken from the sample portion in 12.1.2 and be ofa convenient size to accomodate the test and comply with therequirements of the

    27、 appropriate ASTM Product Standards andTest Methods.13. Inspection17.1 The manufacturer or supplier shall inspect and makethe tests necessary to verify the furnished product conforms tospecification requirements.17.2 Source inspection of the product by the purchaser is anoption if

    42、agreed upon by the manufacturer, supplier, and thepurchaser as part of the purchase order. In such case, the natureof the facilities needed to satisfy the inspector, representing thepurchaser, that the product is being furnished in accordancewith the specification shall be included in the agreement.

    43、 Alltesting and inspection shall be conducted so as not to interfereunnecessarily with the operation of the works.17.3 When mutually agreed upon the manufacturer, sup-plier, and purchaser shall conduct the final inspection simulta-neously.18. Rejection and Rehearing18.1 Rejection:18.1.1 Product that

    44、 fails to conform to the specificationrequirements when tested by the purchaser or purchasers agentshall be subject to rejection.18.1.2 Rejection shall be reported to the manufacturer orsupplier promptly. In addition, a written notification of rejec-tion shall follow.18.1.3 In case of dissatisfactio

    45、n with the results of the testupon which rejection is based, the manufacturer, or supplier,shall have the option to make claim for a rehearing.18.2 Rehearing:18.2.1 As a result of product rejection, the manufacturer, orsupplier, shall have the option to make claim for a retest to beconducted by the

    46、manufacturer, supplier, and the purchaser.Samples of the rejected product shall be taken in accordancewith the product specification and subjected to test by bothparties using the test method(s) specified in the productspecification, or alternately, upon agreement of both parties, anindependent labo

    47、ratory may be selected for the test(s) using thetest method(s) specified in the product specification.19. Certification19.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, thepurchaser shall furnish certification that samples representingeach lot have been either tested or inspected as directed in

    48、 thisspecification and requirements have been met.20. Test Report20.1 When specified in the purchase order or contract, areport of test results shall be furnished.21. Packaging and Package Marking21.1 Packaging:21.1.1 The product shall be separated by size, composition,temper, and cladding ratio, an

    49、d prepared for shipment bycommon carrier, in such a manner to afford protection from thenormal hazards of transportation.21.2 Package Marking:21.2.1 Each shipping unit shall be legibly marked with thepurchase order number, metal or alloy designation, temper,size, shape, gross and net weight, and name of supplier. Thespecification number shall be shown when specified.22.
