Scope*1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for

    3、 rolledcopper sheet and strip in flat lengths or coils in ounce-weightthicknesses for roofing, flashing, gutters, downspouts, andgeneral sheet metal work in building construction.1.1.1 Products produced to this specification are not in-tended for electrical applications.1.2 UnitsThe values stated in

    11、o Terminology B 846.4.1.1 coil, na length of the product wound into a series ofconnected turns.4.1.1.1 DiscussionThe unqualified term “coil” as appliedto “flat product” usually refers to a coil in which the product isspirally wound, with the successive layers on top of oneanother (sometimes called a

(610 mm), inclusive, in width and ofounce-weight thickness from 8 to 48 oz.4.1.6 ounce-weight, nthe weight of copper

    17、sheet or stripexpressed in ounces per square foot.NOTE 2In 4.1.4 and 4.1.5, the 8 to 48 oz refers to the namescommonly used in the building industry for the sizes used. The respectivesizes that correspond to these names are listed in Table 1.5. Ordering Information5.1 Contracts or purchase orders fo

    18、r products suppliedunder this specification should include the following informa-tion:5.1.1 ASTM designation and year of issue (for example,B 370XX),5.1.2 Temper (Section 8),5.1.3 Dimensions: tolerances (Section 12),5.1.4 How furnished: flat lengths or coils (4.1.1-4.1.3),5.1.5 Quantity: total weigh

    19、t or number of pieces of eachform and size, and5.1.6 When product is purchased for agencies of the U.S.Government (Section 11).5.2 The following are options available under this specifi-cation and should be specified in the contract or purchase orderwhen required:5.2.1 Heat identification or traceab

    20、ility details,5.2.2 Certification, and5.2.3 Mill test report.6. Materials and Manufacture6.1 MaterialsThe material shall be any copper conform-ing with the chemical composition requirements (Section 7).6.2 Manufacture:6.2.1 SheetThe product shall be manufactured in flatsheets.6.2.2 StripThe product

    21、shall be manufactured in flatlengths or in coils (rolls) of one single continuous length notless than 25 ft (7.5 m) wound into a cylindrical spiral.7. Chemical Composition7.1 The material shall be any copper with a minimumcopper content, including silver, of 99.5 %.7.1.1 Limits shall be established

    22、and analysis required forunnamed elements by agreement between the manufacturerand the purchaser.8. Temper8.1 Copper sheet and strip produced to this specification isavailable in the following tempers as defined in ClassificationB 601: O60 (soft), H00 (cold-rolled), H01 (cold-rolled, highyield), H02

    23、 (half hard), H03 (three-quarter hard), and H04(hard).NOTE 3The purchaser should confer with the manufacturer or sup-plier concerning the availability of a specific temper and form.NOTE 4H00 temper is commonly known in the building industry ascold-rolled temper.NOTE 5H01 temper is commonly known in

    24、the building industry ascold-rolled, high yield temper.9. Physical Properties9.1 Grain SizeAlthough no grain size has been estab-lished for temper O60, the product shall be recrystallized fullyas determined by Test Method E 112.10. Mechanical Property Requirements10.1 Tensile and Yield Strength Requ

    25、irements:10.1.1 The product shall conform to the requirements speci-fied in Table 2 for the specific temper when subjected to test inaccordance with Test Methods E 8.10.1.2 Acceptance or rejection for mechanical propertiesshall be based upon the results of the tensile and yield strengthtests.10.2 Ro

    26、ckwell HardnessThe approximate Rockwell val-ues are given in Table 2 for general information and assistancein testing and shall not be a basis for rejection.10.2.1NOTE 6The Rockwell hardness test offers a quick and convenientmethod of checking for general conformity to the specification require-ment

    27、s for temper and tensile strength.11. Purchases for U.S. Government Agencies11.1 When identified in the contract or purchase order,product purchased for agencies of the U.S. Government shallconform to the special government requirements stipulated inthe Supplemental Requirements.12. Sampling13.1 SamplingThe

    33、 lot size, portion size, and selection ofsample pieces shall be as follows.13.1.1 Lot SizeAn inspection lot shall be 10 000 lb (4540kg) or less of product of the same mill form, alloy, temper, andnominal dimensions, subject to inspection at one time, or shallbe the product of one cast bar from a sin

    34、gle melt charge whoseweight shall not exceed 25 000 lb (11 340 kg) that has beenprocessed continuously and subject to inspection at one time.13.1.2 Portion Size A portion shall be four or more piecesselected as to be representative of the lot. When the lot consistof less than four pieces, representa

    35、tive samples shall be takenfrom each piece.13.2 Chemical Analysis:13.2.1 The sample for chemical analysis shall be taken fromthe pieces selected and combined into one composite sample inaccordance with Practice E 255 for product in its final form.The minimum weight of the composite sample shall be 1

    36、50 g.13.2.2 Instead of sampling in accordance with PracticeE 255, the manufacturer shall have the option of takingsamples at the time the castings are poured or by takingsamples from the semifinished product.13.2.2.1 When composition of the material has been deter-mined during the course of manufact

    37、ure, sampling of thefinished product by the manufacturer is not required.13.2.3 The number of samples to be taken for determinationof chemical composition shall be as follows.13.2.3.1 When sampled at the time the castings are poured,at least one sample shall be taken for each group of castingspoured

    38、 from the same source of molten metal.13.2.3.2 When sampled from the semifinished product, atleast one sample shall be taken to represent each 10 000 lb, orfraction thereof, except that not more than one sample shall berequired per piece.13.2.3.3 Only one sample need be taken from the semifin-ished

Number of Test and Retests14.1 Tests

    47、:14.1.1 Chemical AnalysisComposition shall be deter-mined as the mean of results from at least two replicateanalyses of the sample and the results of each replication shallmeet the requirements of this specification.14.1.2 Mechanical Properties TestsTensile strength fortemper O60 and tensile strengt

    48、h and yield strength for all othertempers shall be reported as the results obtained from speci-mens prepared from a sample piece and the results must meetthe requirements of this specification.14.2 Retests:14.2.1 When requested by the manufacturer or supplier, aretest shall be permitted when test re

    49、sults obtained by thepurchaser fail to conform with specification requirements.14.2.2 Retesting shall be as directed in this specification forthe initial test(s) except that the number of test specimens shallbe twice that required for the initial test.14.2.3 Test results for all specimens shall conform to therequirements of this specification in retest and failure toconform shall be cause for lot rejection.15.
