    16、orage3. Terminology3.1 Definitions of Terms Specific to This Standard:3.1.1 bar, nmaterial of rectangular (flats), hexagonal, orsquare solid section up to and including 10 in. (254 mm) inwidth and18 in. (3.2 mm) and over in thickness in straightlengths.3.1.2 rod, nmaterial of round solid section fur

    17、nished instraight lengths.3.1.2.1 DiscussionHot-worked rectangular bar in widths10 in. and under may be furnished as hot-rolled plate withsheared or cut edges in accordance with Specification B168,provided the mechanical property requirements of this speci-fication are met.3.1.3 wire, na cold-worked

    18、 solid product of uniformround cross section along its whole length, supplied in coilform.4. Ordering Information4.1 It is the responsibility of the purchaser to specify allrequirements that are necessary for the safe and satisfactoryperformance of material ordered under this specification.Examples

    19、of such requirements include, but are not limited to,the following:4.1.1 Alloy Name or UNS Numbersee Table 1,4.1.2 ASTM Designation, including year of issue,4.1.3 SectionRod (round), bar (square, hexagonal, orrectangular), or wire (round),4.1.4 Condition (see Table 2 and Table 3),4.1.5 Finish,4.1.6

    20、Dimensions, including length (see Tables 4-8),4.1.7 Quantityfeet or number of pieces,4.1.8 CertificationState if certification is required,4.1.9 Samples for Product (Check) AnalysisState whethersamples for product (check) analysis shall be furnished, and4.1.10 Purchaser InspectionIf purchaser wishes

    21、 to wit-ness tests or inspection of material at place of manufacture, thepurchase order must so state indicating which test or inspec-tions are to be witnessed.5. Chemical Composition5.1 The material shall conform to the composition limitsspecified in Table 1.5.2 If a product (check) analysis is per

    22、formed by thepurchaser, the material shall conform to the product (check)analysis variations in Specification B880.6. Mechanical Properties and Other Requirements6.1 Mechanical PropertiesThe material shall conform tothe mechanical properties specified in Table 2 for rod and barand Table 3 (UNS N0660

    23、0 and N06690 only) for wire.6.2 Grain Size:6.2.1 Grain size for N06674 shall be 7 or coarser asdetermined in accordance with Test Methods E112.7. Dimensions and Permissible Variations7.1 Diameter, Thickness, or WidthThe permissible varia-tions from the specified dimensions as measured on thediameter

    24、 or between parallel surfaces of cold-worked rod andbar shall be as prescribed in Table 4; of hot-worked rod and baras prescribed in Table 5; and of wire as prescribed in Table 6.7.2 Out-of-RoundHot-worked rods and cold-worked rods(except “forging quality”) all sizes, in straight lengths, shall notb

    25、e out-of-round by more than one half the total permissiblevariations in diameter shown in Table 4 and Table 5, except forhot-worked rods12 in. (12.7 mm) in diameter and under, whichmay be out-of-round by the total permissible variations indiameter shown in Table 5. Cold-worked wire shall not beout-o

    26、f-round by more than one-half the total permissiblevariations in diameter shown in Table 6.7.3 CornersCold-worked bars will have practically exactangles and sharp corners.7.4 Machining Allowances for Hot-Worked MaterialsWhen the surfaces of hot-worked products are to be machined,the allowances presc

    27、ribed in Table 7 are recommended fornormal machining operations.7.5 LengthThe permissible variations in length of cold-worked and hot-worked rod and bar shall be as prescribed inTable 8.7.5.1 Rods and bars ordered to random or nominal lengthswill be furnished with either cropped or saw-cut ends; mat

    28、erialordered to cut lengths will be furnished with square saw-cut ormachined ends.7.6 StraightnessThe permissible variations in straightnessof cold-worked rod and bar as determined by the departurefrom straightness shall be as prescribed in Table 9.7.6.1 The permissible variations in straightness of

    29、 hot-worked rod and bar as determined by the departure fromstraightness shall be as specified in Table 10.8. Workmanship, Finish and Appearance8.1 The material shall be uniform in quality and condition,smooth, commercially straight or flat, and free of injuriousimperfections.9. Sampling9.1 LotDefini

    30、tion:9.1.1 A lot for chemical analysis shall consist of one heat.9.1.2 A lot for mechanical properties testing and otherrequirements shall consist of all material from the same heat,nominal diameter or thickness, and condition.9.1.2.1 Where material cannot be identified by heat, a lotshall consist o

    31、f not more than 500 lb (227 kg) of material in thesame size and condition.9.2 Test Material Selection:9.2.1 Chemical AnalysisRepresentative samples fromeach lot shall be taken during pouring or subsequent process-ing.9.2.1.1 Product (check) analysis shall be wholly the respon-sibility of the purchas
