Asuperscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This specification covers m

    3、alleable iron flanges, pipefittings, and valve parts, including parts to be assembled for usein railroad, marine, and other heavy duty service applicationswhere fittings furnished in accordance with American NationalStandard for Malleable Iron Threaded Fittings, Class 150 and300 (ANSI B 16.3) are no

    4、t considered adequate.1.2 Service shall include up to 650F (345C).21.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regardedas standard. Process3.1 The castings shall be made in accordance with Specifi-cation A 47.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 The sizes, shapes, and dimensions of the

    7、fittings, cov-ered by ANSI B 16.3 shall conform to the requirements thereinspecified.4.2 Screwed pipe fittings, unions, union fittings, and globeand angle valves that are covered by the various standards andrecommended practices as issued by the Association of Ameri-can Railroads shall conform to th

    8、e requirements therein speci-fied.4.3 All pipe threads, unless otherwise specified, shall be inaccordance with ANSI B 2.1. (Standards for pipe threads arealso available in Section VI of Screw-Thread Standards forFederal Services.)4.4 Zinc coatings on fittings which are required to begalvanized by th

    9、e hot-dip process shall conform to the require-ments for ClassAcastings as prescribed in SpecificationA 153,except on surfaces where it is the practice to machine aftergalvanizing.5. Manufacture Control and Records5.1 The iron shall be produced under constant control ofchemical composition and physi

    10、cal properties. Records of thechemical composition of the iron and of the physical propertiesof the test specimens shall be systematically made and main-tained.6. Tests6.1 Tests shall be made when required by the specificationslisted herein.1This specification is under the jurisdiction of ASTM Commi

    16、tion Society of the Valve andFittings Industry shall be marked in accordance with SP-25-1936 of that Society. Malleable iron products furnished inaccordance with the standards issued by the American Stan-dards Association or by the Association of American Railroadsshall be marked as specified in the
