Scope1.1 This specificatio

    3、n covers five grades of electric-fusion(arc)-welded straight-seam or helical-seam steel pipe. Pipe ofNPS4(Note 1) and larger with nominal (average) wallthickness of 1.0 in. 25.4 mm and less are covered. Listing ofstandardized dimensions are for reference (Note 2). The gradesof steel are pipe mill gr

    4、ades having mechanical propertieswhich differ from standard plate grades. The pipe is intendedfor conveying liquid, gas, or vapor.NOTE 1The dimensionless designator NPS (nominal pipe size) hasbeen substituted in this standard for such traditional terms as “nominaldiameter,”“ size,” and “nominal size

Process4.1 The steel shall be made by one or more of the followingprocesses: open-hearth, basic-oxygen, or electric-furnace.4.2 Steel may be cast in ingots or may be strand cast. Whensteels of different grad

    12、es are sequentially strand cast, identifi-cation of the resultant transition material is required. Theproducer shall remove the transition material by any estab-lished procedure that positively separates the grades.NOTE 4The term “basic-oxygen steelmaking” is used generically to1This specification i

Manufacture5.1 The longitudinal edges of the steel shall be shaped togive the most satisfactory results by the particular weldingprocess employed. The weld shall be made by automatic (Note5) means (except tac

    18、k welds if used) and shall be of reasonablyuniform width and height for the entire length of the pipe.NOTE 5Upon agreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer,manual welding by qualified procedure and welders may be used as anequal alternative under these specifications.5.2 All weld seams mad

    19、e in manufacturing pipe shall bemade using complete joint penetration groove welds.6. Chemical Composition6.1 The steel shall conform to the chemical requirementsprescribed in Table 1 and the chemical analysis shall be inaccordance with Test Methods, Practices, and TerminologyA751.7. Tensile Require

    20、ments for the Steel7.1 Longitudinal tension test specimens taken from the steelshall conform to the requirements as to tensile propertiesprescribed in Table 2.At the manufacturers option, the tensiontest specimen for sizes 858 in. 219.1 mm in outside diameterand larger may be taken transversely as d

    21、escribed in 19.4.7.2 The yield point shall be determined by the drop of thebeam, by the halt in the gage of the testing machine, by the useof dividers, or by other approved methods. The yield strengthcorresponding to a permanent offset of 0.2 % of the gage lengthof the specimen, or to a total extens

    22、ion of 0.5 % of the gagelength under load shall be determined.8. Heat Analysis9.1 An analysis of each heat of steel shall be made by themanufacturer to determine the percentages of the elementsspecified in Section 6. This analysis shall be made from a testin

    31、got taken during the pouring of the heat. When requested bythe purchaser, the chemical composition thus determined shallbe reported to the purchaser or his representative, and shallconform to the requirements specified in Section 6.10. Product Analysis10.1 An analysis may be made by the purchaser on

    32、 samplesof pipe selected at random and shall conform to the require-ments specified in Section 6. Samples for chemical analysis,except for spectrochemical analysis, shall be taken in accor-dance with Method E59. The number of samples shall bedetermined as follows:NPS Number of Samples SelectedUnder

    33、14 2 for each lot of 200 pipes or fraction thereof14 to 36, incl 2 for each lot of 100 pipes or fraction thereofOver 36 2 for each 3000 ft or fraction thereof10.2 RetestsIf the analysis of either length of pipe orlength of skelp does not conform to the requirements specifiedin Section 6, analyses of

    34、 two additional lengths from the samelot shall be made, each of which shall conform to therequirements specified.11. The mass per unit length of pipe made of ferriticstainless steels may be about 5 % less, and that made of austenitic stainlesssteel about 2 % greater than the values given. The specified mass of anindividual pipe length shall be calculated as

    37、its specified mass per unitlength times its length.11.1.1 The mass of any length of pipe shall not vary morethan 10 % over its specified mass.11.1.2 The mass of any length of pipe shall not vary morethan 5 % under the specified mass if the specified wallthickness is 0.188 in. 4.78 mm or less or more

    38、 than 5.5 %under if the specified wall thickness is greater than 0.188 in.4.78 mm.11.1.3 The mass of a carload lot shall not vary more than1.75 % under the specified mass. A carload lot is considered tobe a minimum of 40 000 lb 18 Mg shipped on a conveyance.11.2 ThicknessThe minimum wall thickness a

    39、t any pointshall be not more than 12.5 % under the nominal wall thicknessspecified.11.3 CircumferenceThe pipe shall be substantially round.The outside circumference of the pipe shall not vary more than61.0 %, but not exceeding 634 in. 19.0 mm, from thenominal outside circumference based upon the dia

    40、meter speci-fied, except that the circumference at ends shall be sized, ifnecessary, to meet the requirements of Section 18.11.4 StraightnessFinished pipe shall be commerciallystraight. When specific straightness requirements are desired,the order should so state, and the tolerance shall be a matter

    41、 ofagreement between the purchaser and the manufacturer.11.5 Ovality (Out-of-Roundness)The pipe diameter,within 4.0 in. 100 mm of ends, shall not vary more than 1 %from the specified diameter as measured across any singleplane with a bar gage, caliper, or other instrument capable ofmeasuring actual

    42、diameter.12. Finish12.1 Repair by WeldingThe manual, or automatic arc,welding of injurious defects in the pipe wall, provided theirdepth does not exceed one third the specified wall thickness,will be permitted. Defects in the welds, such as sweats or leaks,shall be repaired or the piece rejected at

    43、the option of themanufacturer. Repairs of this nature shall be made by com-pletely removing the defect, cleaning the cavity, and thenwelding.12.2 All repaired pipe shall be tested hydrostatically inaccordance with Section 16.13. Retests13.1 If any specimen tested under Sections 8 or 15 fails tomeet

    44、the requirements, retests of two additional specimensfrom the same lot of pipe shall be made, all of which shall meetthe specified requirements. If any of the retests fail to conformto the requirements, test specimens may be taken from eachuntested pipe length, at the manufacturers option, and eachs

    45、pecimen shall meet the requirements specified, or that pipeshall be rejected.14. Number of Production Test Specimens14.1 One longitudinal tension test specimen specified in19.2 shall be made from the steel of each heat, or fractionthereof, used in the manufacture of the pipe.14.2 One reduced-section

    46、 production weld test specimenspecified in 19.5 shall be taken from a length of pipe from eachlot of 3000 ft (914 m) of pipe, or fraction thereof, of each sizeand wall thickness.14.3 If any test specimen shows defective machining ordevelops flaws not associated with the quality of the steel or thewe

    47、lding, it may be discarded and another specimen substituted.14.4 Each length of pipe shall be subjected to the hydro-static test specified in Section 16.15. Qualification of Welding Procedure15.1 Welding procedures shall be qualified in accordancewith the requirements of AWS B2.1; ASME Boiler and Pr

    48、es-sure Vessel Code, Section IX; or other qualification proceduresA139/A139M 04 (2010)3as noted in the American Welding Society Welding Handbook.Tests and test values shall be as specified in 15.2 and 15.3.15.2 Two reduced-section tension specimens made in accor-dance with Fig. 1, with the weld rein

    49、forcement removed, shallshow a tensile strength not less than 100 % of the minimumspecified tensile strength of the grade of steel used.15.3 Bend test specimens (two face-bend and two root-bendor four side-bend as designated by the welding procedureaccording to thickness) shall be prepared in accordance withFig. 2 and shall withstand being bent 180 in a jig substantiallyin accordance with Fig. 3. The bend test shall be acceptable ifno cracks or other defects exceeding18 in. 3.2 mm in
