2、last revision. A number in parentheses indicates the year of lastreapproval. A superscript epsilon () indicates an editorial change since the last revision or reapproval.1. Scope1.1 This practice defines procedures for measuring thewidth of steel sheet when decimal, not fraction tolerances areindica

3、ted. The ability to accurately measure width using handcalipers is critical in determining if product meets decimalspecifications. The methods described are designed and in-tended for use in the laboratory, mill situations, and generaluse.1.2 The flat steel product shall conform to all the require-m

The outside blades of a caliper are usedto measure the width of steel sheet; inside blades of a caliperare used to measure internal dimensions of non-sheet pro

Usually once or twiceis adequate.4.4 The typical method to hold or secure the caliper is tograsp the caliper, as shown in Fig. 3, with right hand and thesheet in left hand.4.5 Close the caliper

13、 by rotating the thumb wheel or slidingthe movable blade toward the fixed blade. The caliper isacceptable for use if it reads zero. If not, for electronic digitalcalipers, zero out (reset) the caliper per manufacturers instruc-tions. For dial and vernier calipers, adjust them to read zero permanufac
