5、plicable “M” specification designation (SI units), the mate-rial shall be furnished to inch-pound units.1.5 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound unitsare to be regarded separately as standard. General Requirements3.1 Material supplied to this material specification shallcon
8、form to Specification A20/A20M. These requirements out-line the testing and retesting methods and procedures, permit-ted variations in dimensions and mass, quality and repair ofdefects, marking, loading, and ordering information.3.2 In addition to the basic requirements of thisspecification, certain
9、 supplementary requirements are availablewhen additional control, testing, or examination is required tomeet end use requirements. The purchaser is referred to thelisted supplementary requirements in this specification and tothe detailed requirements in Specification A20/A20M.3.3 If the requirements
10、 of this specification are in conflictwith the requirements of Specification A20/A20M, the require-ments of this specification shall prevail.4. Materials and Manufacture4.1 Steelmaking PracticeThe steel shall be killed.5. Heat Treatment5.1 Except as allowed by 5.2 and 5.3, all plates shall benormali
11、zed at 1900 to 1975F 1040 to 1080C. Plates forGrades 23, 92, and 122 shall be tempered at 1350 to 1470F730 to 800C. Grade 911 plates shall be tempered at 1365 to1435F 740 to 780C.5.2 If permitted by the purchaser, plates for Grades 23, 92,and 122 may be austenitized at 1900 to 1975F 1040 to1080C, su
12、bjected to accelerated cooling from the austenitiz-ing temperature by air blasting or liquid quenching, and thentempered at 1350 to 1470F 730 to 800C.5.3 Plates ordered without the heat treatment required byeither 5.1 or 5.2 shall be furnished in either the stress-relieved1This specification is unde
