、e part. Page 5 prEN 4408-1 : 2002 4. I General rules Drawings of parts made of composite materials are represented in compliance with the standardisation rules defined by the following standards: - IS0 128 - IS0 129 - IS0 3098-2 - IS0 5455 - IS0 5456 These rules are completed by this standard. 4.2 S

、pecific rules Specific rules for the drawing representation of parts made of composite materials are contained in the following standards: - EN4408-2 - EN4408-3 - EN4408-4 - EN4408-5 - EN4408-6 5 Title block inscriptions Rules for the representation and use of the title block are given in IS0 7200.

、6 Title block indications 6.1 General tolerances General dimensional tolerances shall comply with the requirements of IS0 406 and IS0 1101 unless otherwise indicated in the drawing. 6.2 Marking Recommended markings are mainly made with ink or paint. 6.3 Serialisation Serialisation shall comply with

、the companys particular specifications. 6.4 Manufacturing conditions Manufacturing conditions may be subject to requirements given in a reference document on definition (for example the drawing). Page 6 prEN 4408-1 : 2002 7 Dimensioning principle Traditionally, the definition of each part given in a

、 drawing applies to the unassembled part, ready for mounting and under the following environmental conditions: - ambient temperature: (20 i 0,5) OC; - relative hiimidity: (50 t 10) /o. The rules for deformable parts defined in IS0 10579 shall be observed. 8 Image Representation rules shall comply wi

、th IS0 128 et IS0 129. 9 Notes on drawings To keep the “image“ part of the drawing as readable as possible, requirements may be expressed in the form of notes which shall preferably be placed above the title block. If possible, the content of the notes shall be standardised, succint, and sufficient

、in order to avoid any ambiguity. 10 Thickness of parts 10.1 General case (structural function) No thickness indication shall be given on the drawings, the thickness resulting from the number of layers, the elaboration and abtation method, etc. The basic thickness of the layers has to be summarised i

、n a table which is called lay-up diagram. 10.2 Special case (other functions) The thickness of parts in areas such as crimping areas, ., has to be dimensioned at the crimping point or .; in this case, the application area (localisation or dimension) shall be dimensioned and the thickness shall be sp

、ecified in a note on the design document (see figure 1). Dimensions in millimetres ,-o_j a The thickness in this aera shall be equal to (x I y) mm. 31、 fibre direction for web and tape of honeycomb material is the warp direction. The direction key shall be associated with a geometrical view of the part. Example (see figure 2): only one key per lay-up diagram, the O“ direction of the orientation key is chosen by the designer who shall guarantee the

、 correct the drawing, the 3rd direction is perpendicular to the X (O“) et Y (90“) axes; the + direction corresponds traditional direction of a direct axis system. 90“ - 90“ Figure 2 - Direction key Definition of laminate aeras use of to the A laminate area is defined by an arrangement of layers (fab

、ric, web, roving, fibre or core material). The areas are identified by a letter followed by a number. 13 Material identification The materials which make up the part are identified in the lay-up diagram in a note or are clearly indicated. 14 Lay-up diagram The lay-up diagram indicates area by aera (

、see figure 3): - the identification of the aera; - identification of the different elements making up the part (fabric, core material, web, adhesives, etc.); - direction of theses different elements; - theoretical ply thickness (fabric and web); - symbol for the direction of fabric, web, roving, fib

、re, core material. This arrangement allows an increase of the number of aeras and plies with the same structure of the lay-up diagram. Direction other than O“, 45“, - 45“ or 90“ shall be represented: - by a symbol at O“, 45“, - 45“ or go“, the actual direction being indicated in the direction column
