This specification covers a diesel engine driven, six-wheel, four-rear wheel drive, 39,500 pounds gross vehicle weight (GVW), commercial truck equipped with a maintenance body and a hydraulically operated rotating and telescoping derrick with an insulated

Vehicles procured under this specification are commercial items which shall be warranted by the manufacturer as specified in acquisition documents. 2. REQUIREMENTS * 3.1 Standard vehicle and accessories. Except as specified in 3.1.1 through 3.1.1.14, the vehicle, components, assemblies and accessories to

    28、 be delivered under the contract shall be seandard or optional items, which meet or exceed the requirements of this specification. All chassis items shall be as represented and rated in the chassis manufacturers technical data and special bodies or mounted equipment shall be as represented and rated

    29、 in the body and equipment manufacturers technical data. Technical data shall be limited to specifications and technical material, identical to that furnished to the authorized company representatives for selection of vehicle models and components, and shall be available to the engineering offices o

    30、f the procuring activity prior to delivery of the items. The chassis model furnished shall be not older than the chassis manufacturers current model on the date of invitation for bids. When specified (see 6.2), a first article and a first article test shall be provided. 3.1.1 Special requirements. I

    31、n addition to the standard vehicle and components specified in 3.1, the vehicle shall be furnished with special equipment as specified herein. * 3.1.1.1 Painting and marking. Treatment, painting, marking and data plates shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-1223. The exterior color and the identificat

    32、ion markings shall be in accordance with the requirements of MIL-STD-1223 for the military service identified by the procuring activity (see 6.2). wound derrick components shall not be painted.     37、MOVE THE METAL WINCH CABLE AND OTHER CONDUCTIVE ACCESSORIES. DO NOT DRILL HOLES IN BOOM OR BASKET TO DRAIN WATER, DUMP OUT WATER. AND BASKET(S), 3.1.1.1.2 Instruction plates. Plates showing schematics of all valves, valve controls, equipment, lubrication, and complete operating instructions for the

    38、vehicle aerial equipment shall be fastened on the inside of one of the curbside vertical cabinet doors. Each control lever shall be marked with a plate depicting the function of the control. Individual marking shall be adjacent to each control. Plates and markings shall conform to composition A (cla

    39、ss 1 or 2) or composition C of MIL-P-514. 3.1.1.1.3 Warning signs. Warning signs or labels as recommended ,by the Manufacturers of Aerial Devices and Digger Derricks Council shall be furnished and attached. 3.1.1.2 Rustproofing. When specified (see 6.2), the vehicle shall be rustproofed in accordanc

    40、e with FED-STD-297. When specified (see 6.2), tropical rustproofing in accordance with FED-STD-297 shall be furnished. 3.1.1.3 Drain plugs. Drain plugs installed in the manual transmission and the rear axles for draining lubricants shall be of the permanent magnet type. 6 Provided by IHSNot for Resa

Wood shall be treated in accordance with MIL-STD-1223. 3.1.1.5 Towing devices. Not less than two hooks, loops or pfns hooks, mounted to the chassis fr

    42、ame or to rigid members which are attached to the frame, for towing the vehicle, shall be furnished. Towing devices shall be furnished at the rear of the vehicle. Towing devices shall be positioned so that the towing cable(s) will not deform other vehicular components. Towing devices may be utilized

    43、 for the safety chain attachment devices specified in 3.1.1.6. * 3.1.1.6 Pintle assembly. A rotating pintle assembly in accordance with MS51118 shall be furnished and installed on the rear of the vehicle. The pintle assembly shall be installed on the vehicle chassis frame with reinforcements to tran

    44、sfer a vertical tongue load of not less than 4,000 pounds and a horizontal drawbar load of not less than 40,000 pounds directly to the chassis rails. The rearmost portion of the pintle shall be forward, but not more than 4 inches forward, of the rearmost part of the vehicle. Two trailer safety chain

    45、 attachment devices, one adjacent to each side of the pintle, shall be provided. Each attachment device shall provide an ultimate strength of not less than 40,000 pounds. The safety chain attachment devices shall be capable of accepting a standard grab hook (4-9/16 inches wide, 1-3/16 inches thick a

    46、nd 25/32-inch throat width) for a 5/8-inch chain. chain attachments may be utilized for the rear towing devices (see 3.1.1.5). Safety 3.1.1.7 Lighting socket. A trailer lighting socket and cover assembly, conforming to SAE 5560, shall be furnished. The connector socket shall be mounted at a readily

    47、accessible location on the rear of the vehicle, near the pintle. 3.1.1.8 Trailer lighting cable. A coiled trailer lighting cable, conforming to SAE 51067, shall be furnished. The lighting cable shall be not less than 10 feet long when fully extended. Both ends of the cable shall be equipped with a r

    48、ound plug conforming to SAE 5560. The plugs shall be equipped with a grip for withdrawing from the connector sockets. The cable shall be packaged and stowed in the vehicle tool compartment. 3.1.1.9 Electric trailer brake controller. The vehicle shall be provided with an electric brake controller. Th

    49、e controller shall be installed in the truck cab and wired through the SAE 5560 12-volt socket.
