2、and Armaments Command, Department of the Army, and is available for use by all Departments and Agencies of the Department of Defense. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers four types of combat vehicle power packages consisting of a 12 cyiinder, AVDS 1790 Engine, and CD850-6A or CD850-6A1 cro
3、ss-drive transmissions. The difference between these four types of power packages is based on the electrical power supply and the addition of the clean air system. 1.2 Classification. The power package will be one of the types listed below: Type I - Engine Model Number AVDS 1790-2D (Army Drawing 1 1
4、684000) finished with air-cooled generator and Transmission, Model Number CD850-6A or optional CD850-6A1. When specified (see 6.2) a first article sample shall be subject
22、ed to first article inspection in accordance with 4.3. 3.2 Materials. Materials shall be in accordance with the manufacturers materials specifications for four types of combat vehicle power packages. The materials shall be capable of meeting all of the operational and environmental requirements spec
23、ified herein. Recovered materials shall be used to the maximum extent practicable (see 4.5.1). 3.3 Design and constructiqg. 3.3.1 Confieuration * . Configuration construction shall conform to applicable drawings as follows listed in 3.3.1.1 through 3.3.1.5 (see 4.5.1 and 4.5.2). 3.3.1.1 Type 6. The
24、power pack shall be assembled in accordance with Drawing 12251996; the engine shall conform to Drawing 11684000. 3.3.1.2 Type Ia. The power pack shall be assembled in accordance with Drawing Numbers 12314638,12314639 or 12314640 as applicable. The engine shall conform to Drawings 12354310 or 12354311 as applicable. 3.3.1.4 Type IV. The power pa
26、ck shall be assembled in accordance with the Drawing Number 11655501,12314610 or 12314750 as applicable. The engine shall conform to Drawing 123 1461 1. 3.3.1.5 Transmission. The transmission shall conform to Drawing No. 8355830 (CD850-6A) or 1165011 1 (CD850-6A1) with transmission oil filler kit Dr
27、awing No. 8351025. 3.3.2 Lubricants. 3.3.2.1 Ikghe. The engine crankcase shall be filled with approximately 16 gallons (to bring the oil level to the full mark on the dipstick) of lubricating oil in accordance with seasonal requirements of MIL-L-2104 and MIL-L-21260, type I -lo to 115 degrees Fahren
28、heit (OF) and MIL-L-46167 (-65 to 0F) (see 4.5.3.1). 3.3.2.2 Bans miss ion. The transmission shall be filled with approximately 20 gallons (to bring the oil level to the full mark on the dipstick) of oil conforming to grade 10 of MIL-L-2104 (0F and above) and MIL-L-46167 (below 0F) (see 4.5.3.2). 3.
29、3.3 Govenior. The engine governor shall be adjusted to limit the engine speed as follows: No Load Operation Idle Speed 2600 to 2660 revolutions per minute (rpm) 675 to 725 rpm The governor shall be sealed after the above adjustment (see 4.5.4 h and i). 3.4 Performance. 3.4.1 Engine. The engine shall
30、 function and perform as specified herein, ushg fuel conforming to the seasonal requirements of specification W-F-800 and lubricating oil as specified in 3.3.2.1 (see 4.5.4 and 4.5.5). 3.4.1.1 Type 1. The engine with an air cooled generator shall perform as specified in MIL-E-62177, type IV. 3.4.1.2
31、 Type JX. The engine with an air-co
32、oled generator shall perform as specified in MIL-E-62177, type VII. 3.4.1.4 Type IV. The engine with an oil cooled alternator shall perform as specified in MIL-E-621 77, type VI. 3.4.2 Transm ission. The transmission shall function and perform as specified in MIL-T-11603, type III or type IV using l
33、ubricating oil as specified in 3.3.2.2 (see 4.5.4 and 4-53. 3.4.3 Speed stab ilization. The engine speed shall stabilize within 30 seconds after full rack position is reached (see 4.5.4 h and i). 3.4.4 Idle speed. The engine shall idle smoothly without stalling at speeds of: a 675 to 725 rpm (low id
34、le) (see 4.5.4.i). b. 2600 to 2660 rpm (high idle) (see 4.5.4.h). 3.4.5 Stall speed. With the transmission in high range, its output shafts secured against rotation, and a converter out oil temperature between 250 and 270“F, the engine shall stall at a speed between 1850 and 2150 rpm when the fuel c
35、ontrol is moved to the maximum position (see 4.5.5.c). 3.4.6 Flectn cal svstem. 3.4.6.1 Electrical func m. The electrical system, including all wiring harness and all connections shall function properly during all phases of operation (see 4.5.5.g). 3.4.6.2 Type I and type Ill. 3.4.6.2.1 Generator. T
36、he engine and its wiring harness shall operate satisfactorily with an air cooled generator under a load of 300 to 325 amperes (A) at 28 volts (V) direct current (dc) (see 4-5-43. 3.4.6.3 Type II and type IV. 3.4.6.3.1 Alternator. The engine and its wiring harness shall operate satisfactorily with an

After a power pack running time of 30 minutes, ther
38、e shall be no visible evidence of fuel leakage. Oil leakage to the degree of droplet, from the engine, transmission, oil lines or fittings shall be acceptable (see 4.5.5.f and 6.4). 3.4.7.2 Generator air p ressure (twe I and Im . The generator and associated components shall withstand an internal ai
39、r pressure of 6 inches of Mercury. With the generator system pressurized to 6 inches of Mercury, leakage pressure loss in the system shall not exceed 4 inches of Mercury in 2.5 minutes (see 4.5.6). 3.4.8 Dust detector svs tem (tvDe III and IV) . The dust detector system shall operate and indicate el
40、ectrical continuity when the switches are induced to trip with the insertion of blocking shims at the filter strip positions and with the engine operating at high idle speed of 2600 to 2660 rpm (see 3.4.4.b). With the shims removed and the switches reset, continuity should not occur. Each switch sha
41、ll be tested separately (see 4.5.4.h). 3.4.9 Vehicle exhaust dust e lector sys tem he III and IV) . The engine mounted exhaust ejectors with the scavenge inlets plugged, shall produce a minimum of twelve (12) inches of water depression (gage reading) at the scavenge inlet plugs, when the power pack
42、is operating at wide open throttle stall speed, minimum 1850 rpm (see 3-43, and with a maximum of four (4) inches of water static exhaust back pressure, measured at exhaust outlet (see 4.5.5.c). 3.5 Marking. Unless otherwise specified, identification and marking shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-1
43、29 (see 4.5.7). 3.6 Workmansh ip. Workmanship shall be such as to provide a power package, including accessories, equipment, and loose parts, free from defects, such as: cracked, dented, loose, broken, or corroded parts/components; burrdsharp edges; scratched finisldpeeled or blistered paint; fuel a
44、nd oil leaks (see 4.5.2). 4. VERIFICATION . 4.1 Classificatio n of insDectioq: a. First article inspection (see 4.3). b. Quality conformance inspections (see 4.4). 1. Examination (see 4.4.1). 2. Air temperature 75 2 25F. b. Barometric pressure 28.5 2 3 inches mercury (Hg). 4.3 First article inspect im. Unless otherwise
46、specified (see 6.2), the Government shall select one power package produced under the production contract (see 6.2) for first article inspection. First article samples shall be hpected as specified in table I. Approval of the first article sample by the Government shall not relieve the contractor of
47、 his obligation to supply power packages that are fully representative of those inspected as a first article sample. Any changes or deviation of the production units from the first article sample shall be subject to the approval of the contracting officer. 4.3.1 First article inspect ion f u. Test i
48、tem deficiencies during, or as a result of, the first article test, shall be cause for rejection of the items until evidence has been provided by the contractor that corrective action has been taken to eliminate the deficiency. Any deficiency found during, or as a result of the first article test, s
49、hall be evidence that all items already produced prior to the successful completion of the first article test are similarly deficient unless evidence satisfactory to the contracting officer is furnished by the contractor that they are not similarly deficient. Such deficiencies on all items shall be corrected by the contractor at no cost to the Government. The Government shall not final accept products until
